Take your meal plan on vacation with you -- don't give it one of its own! Whether you're packing for the day or a two-week adventure, you don't want an unpleasant surprise when you return home and step on the scale. And there's no reason for there to be one.
When planning a vacation, take time to research different accommodations before you make your reservations. Most accommodations offer some form of breakfast; make sure it's a healthy one.
Consider a room with a kitchenette so you can begin your day with a healthy breakfast of your own design, and pack a healthy lunch. Pack healthy snacks, too, including plenty of fruits and veggies. You could also make dinner, or let that be the special meal you eat out each day.
Use the internet to help plan your meals and shopping. It's not always easy to find good grocery stores when you're traveling, so find them ahead of time. Explore local restaurants and view their menus so that you can select the ones offering healthier options. You can print directions, too.
Plan ahead and you'll be able to avoid trips to fast food restaurants and vending machines that can add up in both calories and dollars. Plan ahead and you'll spend less time thinking about what you're going to eat, and more time enjoying your vacation.
