Ok, I am trying to get away from eating so many crackers. So, I need ideas for my snacks... So, what's your favorite one? Has to be healthy...

I currently have 6 different pappad (puppodum) flavours, I take large (12g) ones and cut them both ways to end up with quaters (approx 3g - approx 10 calories). I use the toaster (an initial bit, then rotate about 90 degrees and continue until done from all angles). Let's compare that with eating a packet of crisps (US = 'chips') quantity-wise I have the experience of eating no more than 20g of material, 50-60 calories, yet I have the satisfaction of sampling 6 different flavours, they're freshly cooked, they have more surface-area-per-calorie than any other bread or cracker-like thing (better than bread, tortillas, rye crackers like Ryvita etc.) from a macronutrient point of view, as they're mostly made out of lentil flour (which is basically cooked lentils ground into the consistency of flour) they have 25-30% of calories from protein and negligible fat (less than 5%). Why is no-one else singing their praises? (Do watch out for the sodium content.)

2 of my 6 flavours come in packets identical to the one pictured below:

Nir- I like your poppadums! It looks great!

My favorites:

Ricecakes

Popcorn

Raw carrots

Diet Coke (I know I know, shoot me, but they provide a great relief, such a great caloriefree dessert)

Crispbread

Strawberries

Cut up fruit

Nuts

Grapes

And my favorite: Shelled Sunflower Seeds ( I know they have a lot salt, but you can make a little bit take a long time to eat)

Water is also right up there as the best snack. If it is not time for me to have a real snack yet or I'm still hungry after one, I chug a glass or two. Goes right away. I drink a gallon of water a day anyway so I'm usually so preoccupied going to the restroom I forget about eating.

I've recently been eating a lot of plain steamed squash.
(I ate 4.5 cups of squash yesterday!):chewing:

They are only about 50 calories per cup (depending on the squash), filled with vitamin A, and yummy!

One of my favourites is buttercup squash.. So creamy and sweet (but it doesn't have a lot of sugar in it).

Well, until recently I've been enjoying Planters Unsalted Mixed nuts as a snack, because the fats in the nuts were 'good fats' for my overall food plan. However, it seems the calories involved are just too much. 30 nuts goes down fast and thats 160 calories!

Another of my favorite snacks is Triscuits (120 calories for 6 crackers), topped with a blob of yellow mustard, and then topped with deli-turkey breast. 6 of them are quite filling and have a total of about 200 or so calories.
