Hiya all
Im new on here so just finding my way around(hope im posting in the right place).
as the title suggests, im 30 next week and far from happy with my body right now. Thing is its been like this for quite a few years. Before i met my husband i was almost on child size portions of food, there wasnt much money so there wasnt much junk food in the house either.
Since meeting my husband ive put on probably about a stone and a half (&so has he!), he has these huge plated meals and i have the same and have got used to it.
I also left my job last january to return to college and since being on my summer break, i simply can't stop eating!, crisps, chocolate, toast, my husband buys this stuff, its there in the cupboard and i eat it, i know its there and its a tease.
We have both been on various diets from time to time, none of which have worked, we have joined a gym but have given up as it got SO boring&tedious. But now we're going to have another stab at it (dieting)next week(once again), although unfortunately i have a big birthday meal on the saturday.
I really need somewhere like this forum to help keep me going really.

first off welcome! i hear & sympathize with your plea....its not easy to accomodate another persons eating habits. I too have a hubby that can eat anything he wishes, doesnt gain a pd, the males in his family have all the same tall thin lean builds...(lucky guys!).....and i am italian/irish/polish with a tendency to hold the weight along with having a condition called poly cycstic ovariarn syndrome..that is kinda like diabetes in that your body doesnt know how to remove and break down the sugars, messes with hormones, periods etc. I take two medications for that, and since i have been doing that, at least my body is regulated. I have a very hard time losing weight, even when i am very healthy as i know am more than ever!!
I am here to tell you that you can do it, when you reach your point you just decide that this has got to change. I am not saying you have to change your hubbys ways, i didnt! I simply found ways to work for both of us, on a tight budget as well. Having tried all the diets out there, plus drugs...dieting drugs that is...& failed, i finally came to counting calories, looking at my daily intake needs & how much i exercise etc and found a way thru the food and fat! :) (you can look up your intake needs on the weight loss calculator on this site, or search online by typing in daily calorie needs for example)
I am 35, just turned so in August. I have a 4yr old daughter, I am a stay at home mom, with 4 dogs, 2 horses and a huge house to manage. Previously I was in real estate, was going crazy so we decided I should be home with our daughter and this has been an adjustment (to say the least!) but I am busy each day, well most days.. and I am still lost to motivate myself each day to exercise and burn the calories. It isnt always easy.
I started this journey last November, so i am coming into my 1 yr anniversary of this loss and I am about 37pds down and still losing. The gauges & charts advise that i should be like 120-130...so that puts me about another 30 pds from that goal, should that be my goal. I am smaller than i ever have been, even as a kid...my lowest memory of weigh in was 174, and i was 10 years old! I wont ever go back. I vow never to go back. Now, I am 159! :)
Some days, are soo hard for me because as you say the chocolate, the sweets in general the breads, pasta & cereal even some days is my mortal enemy. However, I keep myself in check with a daily weigh in & somehow <though i get really angry> it keeps me on track. I average my wt each saturday, keep a journal of my daily activities, food intake and i keep track of my wt on a calendar too. I need reminders around me ALL THE TIME! I have a note next to the fridge with the list of no no's and a guide for me to stick too, or at least be aware of?
You should look into the challenge area of our site here, there is the weekend challenge, the six week challenge and then the latest greatest weight loss challenge that is currently the Halloween challenge....you will see how we all do it, how we keep ourselves accountable to each other, lean on each other, cry and vent to each other....etc and it should help you more, esp on the down days when you just want to give up.
I dont know what your goals are, and you are very young still, so enjoy this new learning experience, love yourself, dont beat yourself up too much ( i know its hard to do, i am one of the WORST!)....but just take baby steps and you will get there! :)
Good Luck and Welcome! You arent alone!!!! :) And just think, if your hubby sees you making these steps to become healthier he just may join in! :)
