I've checked out the Curves book from the library, and I'm considering trying the "carbohydrate sensitive" plan in there. It looks pretty reasonable, and I was wondering if anyone here at CPH has tried this diet. Did it work for you? Do you think it's a good diet plan?
Thanks for the input guys!

| I know some forum members work out at Curves, but I don't think any of them have followed the diet.

| I worked out at curves...didn't work at all! and it was very annoying because the people that work there try to talk to you the whole time and you can't focus and enjoy your work out! some people may like to talk the whole time, but i would rather remain quiet.

I followed the Curves carb-sensitive diet for a while about 3 years ago. I didn't do their workout, though, since I was already getting exercise from sports. I lost about 20 pounds with it. I liked the idea of eating as many meats and veggies as I wanted, and I was very precise measuring my carb intake. I soon realized that it was probably unhealthy to cut out entire food groups, especially since I'm an athlete. I remember the first day I upped my carb intake and had a half a cheese sandwich on light bread. It was amazing, but I don't want to feel deprived like that anymore. I would rather be able to eat carby things, just in moderation. Plus, lots of things that are considered healthy (like fruits) are highly restricted on that plan. So I switched from that to Weight Watchers, and now I'm counting calories since I didn't find the "Points" system precise enough. The curves workout plan seems like a decent way to build muscle, though, if you are just beginning. Good luck with whatever you choose to do!

I never tried the actual Curves diet, but I did the workout plan at their Gym.
It sucked... BAD. You only have 1 minute per machine...
It seemed like I did more circling around then I did working out...
And also they do talk to much during the whole process.
I felt like it was a major rip off. 1 minute per machine and you can only use each machine like 3 times. So yea I did it for like 3 days and I stopped. It was annoying if anything.

| I joined Curves Nov. 2004 with my then 18 yr.old daughter. I was 243 lbs. Jan. 2005 we started the 6wk challenge (eating the Curves diet plan for 6 wks) It the end of that 6 wks. both my daughter and I had lost 25lbs. by April she was down a total of 60 lbs. and I was at a total 50lb. loss. The owner asked mydaughter to work there because she was s o encouraging to so many people and had a lot of people signing up. Hurricane Katrina hit Aug of 2005 and we lost our Curves and life as we new it. Over time we have both gained the weight back, and are moving forward to take it back off. I enjoyed Curves as did my daughter. The machines work if you work them. I also need to add that we both worked up to 30 min. on the eliplical days in between workouts, that also helped.

i bought the book for the eating plan, read it, and realized it was just like the Glycemic Index diet by Rick Gallop. I am already on that eating plan, so I haven't actually done the Curves diet. besides, it seems too complicated with having to count carbs and such.
