Hey Bert!

I haven't been on computer much now that kids are out of school.   I'm still at 85#.  You seem to be doing well.  Good to hear you lost another pound.

I'm sorry about your wife's job.  You are right that God will provide.  He always does.  You know that old saying "whenever one door closes, another opens"... it's true.  I know she'll find an even better job.

Why, oh why, are these last pounds so dang hard to come off?  I'm working out every single day, walking/jogging, lifting weights....you name it.  I think I can plank for three minutes now.  Do you know a few months ago I didn't last 30 seconds before I started to shake?  I give too much power to that dang scale.

Baton Rouge is HOT, but not as hot as it will be in August.  It feels good to go on early morning walk/jogs and sweat.  This morning my daughter was driving to her volunteer job (she has her driver's permit so I was with her) and she looked at me and said, "Mom, you stink!" and laughed.  I laughed too and said, "Ain't it great?"  I had just finished 5 miles and dripping with sweat.  I tried to tell her that her driving made me nervous but she wasn't falling for it.  ha.

Alright, my friend, good to hear from you.  Keep in touch.  I'll try to do better on that front.  That 100# will be here for both of us this summer.  I know it.

Hey,

Good to hear from you.  Kids, Shmids; you need some computer time:grin:

My wife landed a job, thank God.  She was let go on a Sunday night (over the phone) and was given an offer at another practice at full hours and salary.  She starts this coming Monday!   Whew!  Dodged that bullet!

I wonder why you've  Plateaud so hard?  You're doing everything right.  It may just be a matter of time as the increased activity will have an effect soon.  You know, you might want to consider going off a couple of days regarding what you eat.  Don't binge but go out for a pizza or have a Dairy Queen.  Keep the exercise going and after a couple of days hit the calorie restriction again and see what happens.  Maybe you just need to shock your system.  I don't have any scientific proof that this works but it's worked for me in the past.  You may see a slight gain but if you stay on the exercise, it may not appear.  The increase in calories and then the sudden drop again may signal your body to burn more fat since you're working out hard and need the fuel.  What do you think?

If I don't hear from you have a great weekend.  I'll weigh in again on Monday (my official day) and see where I am.  I'm hopefull I'll be under the 200 mark but we have a high end wedding on Saturday.  I'll have to work my butt off to account for that.

Stay in touch, DG.

Bert

Yeah for the job news!

My scale is down slightly...1/2 pound.  Not enough to get excited about.  Your advice sounds good, but I'm a little scared.   I'm eating about 1500-2000 calories a day which should be plenty, considering all the exercise I'm doing.  Today is a ten mile day of walking, 4 miles biking, and some ab work at the gym.  Nobody can call me an exercise slacker, for sure!

I'm rooting for you to be under the 200 mark this week.  There's nothing like seeing that big 1.

Alright, dude, keep up the good work and congrats again to your wife for her new job.   You should take a celebratory jog followed by a nice big glass of iced tea...unsweetened, of course.

Hey there,

Well, I blew it.  I was at 200 lbs on Friday and really hoping to be below by today.  We had a wedding to go to Saturday night and it was a terrifici wedding in every sense of the word.  I was 205 Sunday morning!!

As of today I'm back down to 203 which is where I was last week.  At least I remained the same but it just goes to show you how one indiscretion can screw up your week.  I'm back on it though and we have nothing coming up this weekend so I intend to kick butt and take names!!  I'm gonna make it this week!!!

Have a great day!!

Hey Bert!

How's it going?  I have 13 more to go to 100#.  Where are you?

Glad you had fun at the wedding.  Those couple of wedding pounds will come off quick, if they haven't already.

Summer in full swing over here.  Teenagers running me every which way, but it's all good.

You been up to anything fun?  Do tell.

How's your wife like her new job?

Hey DG,

Only 13 to go???  We're gonna hit it together; I feel it!!

First the good news.  As of this morning I'm 199 lbs!!!!  This is the first time in 20 years I've been under 200!:grin::grin:  I'm down 91 over all and have 9 to go!!!

Now the bad news.  That job for my wife didn't work out.  The guy turned out to be a nut case.  She was on the job 2 days and he told her it wasn't going to work.  He said he needed someone with the experience to work in certain software.  She told him up front that she didn't have the experience and he said it wouldn't be a problem and that she'd catch on quicly.  She was, in fact, doing just that as she has ample experience with another, similar package.  We also learned that the one she replaced was only their for a few days as was the gal before her.  There were two other ladies at the front desk besides my wife.  One turned in her resignation last Monday and last Wednesday was her last day.  The other was only there a month and my wife said she's really frazzled.

Additionally, the guy is obsessive/compulsive and goes out to the waiting room and spends a lot of time straightening chairs, on his hands and needs cleaning litte marks on the carpet, etc.  You get the picture.  Overall I guess it's good to be out of there but we're back to square one.  I'm not worried though.  I believe that God has a plan for all of us, that He's in control and that He loves us.  We'll be fine.

Nothing much else is going on.  My buddy in VA. is coming for a visit in a couple of weeks.  This is the guy I went to see in March.  It will be good to see him.

Enjoy the summer and please stay in touch.  Let's hit it hard to get to the 100 loss mark!! :grin:

Hey!

As usual, I'm looking at your hinny.  I'm at 182, so that's 12 to go for me.  You're in the single digits now.......WOW!  I'm so happy for you.  That must be an awesome feeling.  I bet you can just taste it...low fat, of course.

Sounds like your wife was lucky to get out of her job when she did.  The world is full of whack jobs...she doesn't need to work for one.  Ick.

Glad your buddy is coming to visit soon.  One of my best friends in the whole world lives in Switzerland and is coming to visit her mom (who lives in BR) in July so I'll get to see her.  We get to visit about once a year.  And I'm saving my pennies for a trip to Switzerland in 2010, when four of us who have been friends since high school turn 50.  One of the other girls lives in BR, and the last in Texas.  I can't wait.  And my friend, who I haven't seen since September, has been begging me to send her a picture of the new me.  I told her she would have to wait to see me in person.  She claims I'm torturing her, but I want to see the look on her face in person.  One day, maybe when I hit 100?, I'll post pics here.  Have you considered doing so?

Have a great day.  Keep in touch.  And definitely keep up the good work.  I can hear the party horns already for the big 100.  You rock!

Hey there.

Don't torture your friend too much.  She might retaliate and bring you Swiss Chocolate.  A trip to Switzerland!  What a great reward for all your work and what could be better than celebrating with good friends!  Good for  you!

She'll be surprised all right.  You'll hit the 100 very soon.  I'm excited about getting there.  As of this morning (not my official weigh in) I was at 198, only 8 away.  Please keep me in your prayers.  I know it sounds silly as this is a lifestyle change and I'll be working on it for the rest of my life but I really want to hit this goal and the shorter term the better.

If the site is still up when I hit the 100 mark I was planning on sending pics to Peter to see if he can post them.  I'm not being boastful and I know it may sound trite but if I can do it, anyone can.  All it takes is focus, planning and determination.  Heck; why am I telling you.  You know what it takes.

Thanks for the well wishes for my wife.  It's frustrating but we'll make it.

Have a great day and stay in touch!!

WOW!  I am in awe.  Serious awe.  You go, dude!  You are almost there.

I'm still at 182 which means 12# until I hit the magical 100.  Working out twice a day and eating healthy.  I expect to get on the scale Friday and see at least a two pound loss.

I don't know if I can catch up with you but I'm gonna keep trying.  Off for a 5 mile walk/jog.  Gonna jog more than usual to celebrate your accomplishment and to try to catch up!

You rock, Bert!

Hey pal,

Well, I just posted.  Still at 197.  I have 7 to go and it's getting tougher.  I won't give up though.

One thing I've noticed is that, since I'm increasing my strength training, my clothes are still getting looser even thought the scale isn't moving as quickly.  True, I wasn't really, really good over the 4th weekend but I didn't gain anything either.  I suspect it's a combination of things such as going off for a day, some increased muscle and working out harder.

Over the weekend my workouts were:

Sat-30 hard minutes on the bike and upper body strength training. Sunday, Monday and Tues, a hard hour on the bike.  I'll hit the strength training again tomorrow.  I'm still kind of sore but I have to hit it anyway.

This coming weekend my buddy from VA is coming for a visit.  I won't be able to get a workout in Saturday or Sunday (maybe Sunday pm) and I'll have to try and stay as good as I can food wise.  It will be tough.

I'm so close to the 100 lb lost mark that I'm almost obsessing.  I don't want to do anything drastic because I'll shoot back up again after I go back to the routine.  Slow and steady wins the race and now the discipline is to keep on track and not upset things.

You're shooting for 15 lbs I see.  Good for you.  Aim as high as you can.  Will you send pics before and after you hit the 100 lb mark?  I'm going to.  I'm also preparing a PP presentation that I'm going to send to friends who haven't seen me in a while.  Real short but fun.  I'm trying to figure out how to change an MP3 to a WAV so I can add some music to the presentation.  Any idea how to do that?

Stay in touch!!

Just a quick check in....will read article shortly.

I hear you about the obsessing.  I'm the queen of that.  I'm at 91# today.  Finally...in the 90's.  I've been working my arse off...literally.  And the scale gods decide to shine on me....about dang time!  ha.

Yes, I'll post pics.  As far as your presentation, I can't help you but would suggest you get a teenager...they know all that stuff.

Keep working hard.  You're doing great.  Hope you had fun with your buddy.

IN THE 90S!!!!  Way to go.  I'm at 93 down.  We're gonna do this!!!  I know it!!

I'm all set on the presentation.  I'm just waiting for the final photo to be taken when I hit the 100 mark.  I'll put on my pants that I wore when I began.  Once I figure out how to add the music I'm golden.

My buddy gets in Friday.  It's gonna be tough.  I'll probably have one pina collada and one piece of B-day cake for him.  Other than that I should be able to stay on track.

See you at the finish line, hotty!!!

Hey girl,

It's been a while.  I hope you're doing well.  I have good news and bad news.

The bad news is that my buddy from VA came for a visit last weekend and I went way off.  Gained 6 lbs!!  The good news is that as of this morning I took it off so a lot of it was fluid.  I've worked out hard and watched the calories and now I'm back to 197 or 93 lbs gone.  It's a bitch to get to 195.  I don't have anything special going on this weekend so I'm hopeful I'll get there sometime between Monday and Wednesday of next week.

I am going to get to the 100 lbs. lost one way or the other before the end of August!!

Let me know how you're doing.

Yo Bert!

Just checking in.  Been working hard...avg 3 hrs a day...sometimes more.  I'm at 94# gone....so 6 more to the big 100.  My goal is still Aug. 1.  It's going to be tough.  I still have 20 more after that.  I'm giving myself till Dec. 2 for that....my birthday.

So we seem to be neck and neck since you partied hardy with your buddy.   Glad you had fun.  You'll have those few off way before the end of August.

The finish line is in sight.....keep working hard.  We're strong, we're determined!

Hey gal,

You bet, we're strong and determined!  I'm at 195 this morning, that's 95 gone.  We are kicking arse and taking names.  Let's finish this!!!  We can do it.

I strained something in my neck Saturday while lifting weights.  It's not too bad but I have to be careful not to aggravate it.  I did the bike Sunday and this morning for an hour each day.  I'll hit the weights on Wednesday again.

I won't lose 5 this week but I'll be happy with 2.  We'll see.  You have 20 more you want?  I'm not sure how much more I'll lose as I'm gaining some muscle too and that will actually add weight.  Better that than fat.  Maybe another 10 - 15 for me.  We'll see.

Stay strong.  We are going to do this!!

Hey DG,

You are doing fantastically well!!!  95 lbs.!!!!!

I was good over the weekend with the exception of Saturday night.  We went to a BBQ at a buddies house.  The calories for the overall weekend and the hard exercise still netted me a pound loss on the week.  I'm at 96 down!  4 to go!!!

Girl, we are gonna cross this line together.  I'm putting a very short PP presentation together to show my before and after.  I'll send it to you on the other address when I hit it.  I'm sure, barring any complications, I should hit it in one or two weeks.  You too!!!

Let's nail this!!!

Hey DG,

Happy Monday!  Where've you been?  Are you having success?

I had a good week.  Two more lbs. down for a weigh in of 192.  That's 98 down!  Two more to go.  I had a better chance as I was down to 191 as of Sunday morning but we went out Sunday evening for dinner and although I was extremely good, there's still too much salt in restaurant food and I'm holding water.  I'm just one of the girls.

I hit the bike hard for an hour this morning and I'm going to focus on cardio this whole week and back off the strength training just so I can burn as much as possible to cross that line.  If I'm right about the water, I should lose that one lb. and lose the other by next Monday or maybe even later this week.  I'm going to send you something when I hit it to your other email so be on the lookout!

Let me know how you're doing.

Bert

As you know, Bert, I got that email.  I whooped, I hollered, I cheered, I did a cartwheel (OK, I lied about the cartwheel...but if I knew how I would do one!)

You rock!  I'm at 98#.  It will happen by next Friday.  That's right 100# gone...from 270 to 170.  You can take that to the bank.

Sorry I'm not in her often.  I showed your email to several of my walking buddies.  They all got chills they were so excited for you.  What an accomplishment!

Psssssssssst.

I did it.  Can you believe it?  I flipping did it.  Lost 100# in one year, two weeks and one day.  Allelulia.

I'm now 170.  I will have to dig up an old pic and get a new one taken.  I did show my Sam's Warehouse card to someone at the gym the other day who said "I can't imagine you fat."  When she saw it, she said, "Oh S&^T!!!"  I just laughed and said, "told you!"

How are you doing, Bert?

YOUDAGAL!!!!

Congratulations!!!!!  I know exactly how you feel.  I really do!!!!

Now the battle really begins for us.  A lifetime of it!!!  That's OK.  I know we can do it.

I'm changing my tactic a bit.  Instead of focusing on losing more, I'm working out and eating to go down one more size on my pants.  I'm at a 36 and want to go to 34.  That will be it.  Whatever weight I'm at then is where I'll put the anchor out.

Way to go, DG.  I'm so proud of you.  I can't wait to see the pics.  You can post or PM, whatever you like.

Wow, Bert, Wow.  I entertained the thought once or twice, but always chickened out on checking it out too seriously.  I knew I had to do it the "right" way...the right way for me, anyway.

At 102# gone today.  168.  The year flew by.  Don't you think so?  I feel great.  I do need to take that pic though.  This weekend...it's on my "to do" list.

102!!!  That's great!!  I'm at 102 today as well.  We'll see what the weekend brings.

My wife just lost her new job.  Things are really tough and the environment she was in was very toxic.  She's really struggling with self esteem right now.  On the upside, she got on the scale today and hit the 50 lb lost mark.  That should help.

Please keep us in your prayers and stay strong.  We're doing it and we're doing it the right way!!

Congrats to the Mrs. for her 50# gone.  If she was in a toxic work environment, it's a blessing that's over.  Something better will come along.  I just know it.

Still working hard over here.  Rain put a big damper on my walking plans today but I hit the gym up for 2 hours this afternoon.  No rest for this slimming down sister.  ha.

Hey DG.  Didn't weigh in today.  I'll do it tomorrow.

I didn't do so well on the food front yesterday so we'll see.  I have been working out though and I'm really sore today, especially my thighs.  They're killing me.

Hang tough and I'll send my weight tomorrow or maybe Wednesday.

Bert,

Thanks for your prayers.  We just got power today after 10 days.  It was a bytch.  Details in my diary.

Needless to say, I ate way too much.  I'll weigh Friday morning.  I need you to seriously kick my arse.  What the heck was I thinking??? UGHHHHHHHHHHH.

How have you been buddy?  Tell me something funny.  Something uplifting.  Something to make me smile.

Hey DG,

I just got back in the office and got your note.  Thank God you're all ok.

Here's something uplifting.  Our granddaughter was born on 9/11 at 12:38 AM.  Her name is Evelyn Clair and she's 8 lbs 11 oz and 19 3/4 inches.  She's a sweety.  Now we have something to celebrate every 9/11.  God is good.

Also, my wife got a job and starts Monday!!  How's all this for uplifting??!!!!

I know what you mean.  Things have been crazy at our house too.  Emotional roller coaster for sure.  I've been eating on the run and not getting all my exercise.  I'm up a bit  but you know what, I don't care.  This is a lifetime change and I got back on the horse (stationary bike, actually) and road that sucker for an hour this morning.  I'll hit it over the weekend too.

Stay strong.  You've got what it takes!!!

Love 'ya,

Bert

Congrats on the new granddaughter.  My daughter's middle name is Claire.  And I'm so happy your wife has a new job.

I don't know if you read my diary, but all the Gustav stress caused me to overeat like a crazy woman.  I'm up 11 #.  So, I'm back at 91# lost, not 102#.  I've beaten myself up over it and now I'm back on the wagon.  I did so well and barely even stumbled for a year...I guess it was inevitable.  Dang, dang, dang.  Pity party over....heck yeah, it's over, there's no more dang food in the house.  I ate it all.  Ah..if you can't laugh.....

Thanks for your good news.

Kick my butt, Bert.  Kick it hard.

You are way too hard on yourself.  Hurricane devestation is not the norm.  I keep telling you that it's a LIFESTYLE change so if you slip up for, in this case, a good reason, don't beat yourself up!!

I'll kick your butt if you want but being that you're so hard on yourself, you just deserve a good spanking.

You're back on the horse again so lighten up (no pun intended).

You're gonna be ok!!!  Now, if I hear you've gone off the wagon because you broke a nail or soem other girly reason, you bet I'll come down to BAH TAHN Rooge and kick your butt.

There; feel better now????

Thanks for the laugh, Bert.  I'm back on and behaving but it's slow coming off.  WTH was I thinking?  This is the first time in this journey I'm having to re-lose weight and it sux.

How are you doing?  I'm sorry I don't get in here on a daily basis.  Hope all's well with you.

Thanks for the pics you emailed.  Your granddaughter is a beaut!!!!

Hey DG,

Thanks for the words about little Evey.  She is a cutie it I say so myself.

Don't feel bad.  I was down to 189 and went to 193 due to our weekend away last weekend and I'm down to 190 again today.  I guess that's maintaining.  I still want to get to a 34 waist though.  I'll try to be good this weekend.  I'll get there but I don't know what the weight will be.  Then the real maintenance begins.

Have a great day and hang in there.

Hey DG,

Just checking in.  I've started to run again.  I haven't done that in 20 years.  I started slowly on Sunday and only did 2 1/3rd miles and walked a third.  I was surprised after a year on the stationary bike that my thighs hurt like H$ll.  I laid off it for two days (although I did hit the bike again) and jogged again yesterday.  I went a tad further.

I'm happy to say that the pain has subsided a lot.  I'll give it a go tomorrow.

Take care and let me know how you're doing.

hey DG,

How goes it?  I'm up to 4 miles at a time on the jogging.

I'm not worrying about the weight right now but focusing on my waist line and trying to get to a 34.  I'm nearly there.

Let me know how you're doing.

Hey DG,

Long time no type.  I hope all is well with you and your family.

We're headed to Fla. tomorrow.  Visiting my sister-in-law.  Still trying to maintain but haven't lost anymore.

Up to 4 miles jogging now.  Knees still holding up.

Stay in touch and have a great Thansgiving.

Hey DG, long time no read!

How are you?  I'm still hitting it!  I'm about to complete my 60th day with the P90X workout program.  It's a real butt kicker but I'm loving it and seeing results.

Let me know how you are and how things are in Bah-Tahn -Rooge.

Well, DG, I guess you don't love me anymore.

I thought I'd try you one last time to see how you're doing.  I miss my buddy from BAH-TAHN-ROOGE.

Hope you're doing well.

Love & Kisses,

Bert
