:crying:Well a year and a half ago I had my son. I have always had weight problems. Nothing major just not skinny but not fat. I have gone from 150 to 180 and that happened fast. I was excercising and lost 8 pounds. But I lost my motivation. Everyday now I sit and say I am going to excercise today. and end up not doing anything. I love running outside. I could do that. The only problem is I have my son. My weight is going up still I am so afraid of what I will turn out like. I have no extra money none at all. So diet plans that cost even the tiniest bit extra. I simply and flat out cannot do. What can I do to lose weight and keep the motivation I once had. I have a treadmill but thats not outside thats boring. PLEASE HELP IM TOTALLY DESPERATE....i feel like im failing my son by not doing anything. But still it doesnt seem to help my stay motivated. I dont drink soda at all. I only drink water and iced tea. I do eat sweets but not like I used to im hypoglycemic and need the sugar. since i stopped soda i cant stop the candy. Well thats all i really have to say.

Hi there

Hear what you say about the excercise. Do you have a pushchair( stoller if you are not from England)for your Son?  if yes, have you thought about popping him in it once or twice a day- maybe near his nap times, and walking for say 30 mins  each time within your local area, at a fairly quick pace?

Is there a park nearby where you could walk to,along with a friend or another mother, play with your son on the toddler swings and then walk home?- all of this kind of thing is still excercise, and may lift your spirits so you feel better about yourself.

My daughter ( age 18) is Hypoglycemic, and the dietician told her to spread her meals over 4 to 5 smaller portions per the day, instead of the 'standard 3' which in turn helped her sugar levels without needing the pure sugar, and consequently she lost the extra weight she was carrying without any other effort( apart from some form of excercise).

Hope this helps you, I will watch out for your posts

Jules.

I have a few recommendations(for your lack of motivation).

1.Ever tried hypnosis? Not sure of your knowledge of hypnosis, but for the record, the hypnosis that you see on tv and the movies(where they hypnotize someone to act like a chicken,or to act like a person of the opposite sex,is not real).
Hypnosis is nothing more than someone giving suggestions to your unconscious mind while you are in a really relax state.Similar to afformations, except instead of you saying them yourself,a recording does it for you.

There are tons of one's for exercise. They range from expensive, especially from famous hypnotist to really inexpensive.I have seen some on Ebay for as low as $3.99.And you can download them, which means no shipping cost.

After a few minutes of relaxation, the hypnosis will start giving you suggestions( ex:
you love to workout, you break up periods of inactivity with walking ETC).Some people listen to these hypnosis sessions for a day or 2 and start breaking their habits(in this case, they will start exercising).Others it may take a few weeks, but it will help.

2.Ever tried a tape series(like tae bo?).I mean tons of people have gotten great results from these tapes, and in a way, they are easier to stick with that a treadmill, because you are somewhat active mentally(since you are following directions) as opposed to a treadmill,in which you are just walking away, passing time.

And not only are these tapes normally pretty cheap, but I have seen thrift stores carry these tapes for $1 or $2.

I auctually own three such tapes. One is a tae bo tape, one is called turbo jam, and one is a boxing type workout.

I myself like the boxing workout the most, however each will work.

3.The last one can be hard, but I have found that getting started is always the hardest part.If you plan on doing a 30 minute workout(for example) if you can get past the first 3-5 minutes, you can usually finish a workout(or if not, knock out maybe a 15-20 minute workout).Since I workout somewhat intensly,I found that its best for me to just start with a slow warmup. If I do 5 minutes and I still do not feel like working out,I will do seven minutes, until I am ready.

Also, obviously any type of entertainment like watching tv or listening to music will help also.

As for your diet, the foods in the fatloss 4 idiots plan seems to be mostly cheap foods( and since you pick what you want to eat, then you can just stick with the cheap foods).

However if you read a recent post of mine about yo you dieting, you will see that I lose about 30lbs and 4 inches of my waist while eating any food that I wanted, but keeping track of how many calories I ate(I always ate about 1500 calories, and one day a week I would eat as much as I wanted, but not totally pig out,to boost my metabolism).I definantly am not saying that this will work as good or better than the fatloss 4 idiots diet, but a diet where you try to eat a limited amount of calories is better than saying  "heck with it,I cant afford to go on a diet,so I will just eat what I want".

To be honest,I went on a low carb diet like 4 times before I went on what is basicly a portion control diet, but I could never stay on it very long.I stayed on the portion control diet for over 3 months, pretty easily.

In a sense it somewhat similar to weight watchers, except while weight watchers uses points,I counted calories(ofcourse another difference is that weight watchers does give more points to unhealthy foods and less points to healthy foods,to try to get you to eat more healthy).

One thing to remember about any diet is that calories in and calories out is whats important. Many years ago we was told that fat made us fat,so everyone starting eating low fat foods. So even candy was considered good as long as it was low fat.
Then eventually the low carb craze hit,and Atkins told everyone in the beginning that you could eat as much of the low carb foods that you wanted(steak, eggs etc.)

While many people did great on this diet, some people would eat 3000 calories of fat( tons of eggs and bacon and sausage and steak and ribs ETC).Eventually he changed it that calories is important.

While you may lose fat faster on a low carb diet,or by eating healthy,if you wont stick with the diet(or even cant afford the diet) then it wont matter.

Well anyway,Hope that helps,good luck.

Have you tried watching TV while you walked on the tredmill? If you put a movie on or something to draw your attention it might make it easier.

I agree with the previous comment about trying to incorporate exercise activities into your daily routine; whether it be while watching TV, playing with your child, or running errands. Exercise is a dynamic and can be done just about anywhere. I found support through a website called overall health. The site's creator also authored a book on how to help children build a healthy lifestyle. You should check it out...overallhealth.com.

For what it's worth, here are my thoughts:

- Right now, without even finishing the rest of this post, snatch up your son, give him a big kiss, plop him into a stroller or one of those reverse backpack thingies, and go for a walk.  Not a run... a walk.  Right now.  Go.  Don't think, just go.  See you in an hour.
- Welcome back.  You don't need to spend any money on a diet.  I lost 75lbs in one year and I didn't have to spend a dime.  The weight loss industry is always trying to sell you something, but the truth is free.
- If you drink soda, stop that immediately.  Same with fruit juice, juice boxes, and flavored water.  Only drink water, tea, coffee, and milk.  That's it.

Start with that and if you want more information, let me know.  - AM

To get up and motivate your self to exercise is tough and boring. I took up dancing. It's $10 per group class in most any city. It's fun, you meet people and some schools even have babysitting available while you dance. Dancing has helped me a lot. I still have a little more than 75 pounds to lose, but at least the dancing has kept me motivated and gives me my exercise. Here is one of my videos receiving motivation from my instructor not to be so tired! You can google salsa dance studios in your city, state or I can help you find a dance studio in your area. Be well!
