:lightbulb:With today being Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent I got to thinking it might be fun if we had a kind of Lent challenge to see how much weight we could all lose by Easter on April 8.

I'm starting at 292 and hope to be able to be at 282 by Easter.  With so much weight to lose I find it easier to break it up into smaller more attainable chunks rather than think that I need to lose 1/2 of me to be at a healthy weigh.  150 sounds impossible but 284 almost sounds doable.  Clear as mud?

Please come join me, this could be fun!  Lets see how much total weight we can drop by Easter Sunday.  OK?

Patchers,

I love :heart:your quilt!! Great job!! How long did that take you?? My MIL makes quilts too and she made me a beautiful yellow one for my last Christmas present, I love it!! Its SOOO COLD right now, I love to snuggle up with one!

SO...obviously I was reading your diary and I LOVE :heart:your idea of breaking it up into smaller chunks because the long haul for me has been about 5 years of losing 10 pounds and gaining back 12...so I need to focus on the short term goals and this challenge will help me stay on track and focused! So, I am putting my goal at 8 lbs lost by Easter.  I think its realistic.  According to the dreaded FLUCTUATING gym scales...I am currently anywhere from 134-137 lbs. So that would put me at 126-129 lbs just about at my ultimate GOAL-which I will be THRILLED to reach as it will be the first time in 8 years I will weigh that.

:lightbulb:Also, I think there should be a reward --not only to the person who loses the most but to everyone who reaches their own personal goals. I am choosing my reward as a MASSAGE at the Spa. I :heart::heart: massages. Everyone think long and hard about their own perfect REWARD and feel free to type it here to make it more real and something to LOOK FORWARD to. After all, we deserve something special for treating our bodies right. There are so many distractions and people out there ready to bring you down with them..so we must stick together on this!

I am READY!!! See you at the finish line!!!!:horse:

I do best with small goals!  :shooting_star::heart::shooting_star::heart::shooting_star::heart::shooting_star::heart::shooting_star::heart::shooting_star::heart:

Starting weight 168.8 on 2/20/07

I like OWF's reward idea.......I'll think about it, and post it later.

Me too!!!! - Like, OWF -since my scales are so unfriendly - I'll count last Sunday's weight of 166.2.  I'll try for 8.4 lbs - and I don't need to think about it very long - I'll have a nice massage as well, thank you very much.   So my goal:  157.8!!!!

Okay...me too, me too!!!

Nice idea Patchers.

Well, I need to be 135 by Easter. That's what I have been shooting for.

I sort of have a reward: I am going SHOPPING for all new spring clothes with my BF (that's best friend, not boyfriend ) of twelve years!

But, the catch is...I will still be doing this, even if I don't actually make my goal. Lol. We have it all planned out, and I can't cancel. But, I won't feel I deserve it if I don't at least reach 135.

And I will make 135.

For those of you who don't tune into my diary, my new motto is I CAN DO THIS! and guess what?

I think we can ALL do this.

Hi everyone,

I'm so glad that you folks didn't think this was a lame idea because I didn't want to do it all by myself, lol.  How often do you think we should post updates? every 2 weeks? 1/2 way there?

I'm still thinking about the reward for reaching the goal.  Someday I would like to be able to wear a pair of jeans that aren't 3X with elastic waist, but it is probably too soon to make that my reward, but I think OWF is right we need to be nice to ourselves.

Thanks for participating.

If I added correctly, if we all lose the weight we said we wanted to lose, we will lose a combined weight of:

57.4 pounds.

(If Hisgal, if you meant you wanted to drop eight...you didn't actually say, and neither did I...but I'm just hoping for five )

So, anyway...it would be neat if enough people joined that we lost a combined weight of 100 pounds wouldn't it?

I shall check in once a week, on Sunday after I weigh Saturday night, methinks.

Ok guys, sorry if I threw a wrench in the plans, but I honestly dont think I am capable of losing 10 pounds by Easter. I am just being honest. I will try but I think 6-8 is more doable for me right now. I just dont want to expect too much and then be disappointed, ya know?

Hey, I am only going for five  I will be extremely happy with a 1 pound per week loss. I don't think ten lbs was ever a rule..just the chosen goal for some

The challenge was: see how much weight we can all lose by Easter April 8th. :rabbit: We can do it!

OWF - I don't know if I can either, but I'd LIKE to LOL.  10 pounds is just a target I'm shooting for but I won't be upset if I don't hit it.  I was averaging between 1 and 1.5 pounds loss a week, so that would put me in the 6 - 9 pound range at the most.  I guess what I am trying to say is that I am just going to try my best to lose SOMETHING...but it most likely won't be a whole 10 pounds LOL!

I am SO glad for the interest in the Easter challenge but I might of confused some of you.  10 pounds lost was just MY goal.  Everyone should choose what they think is attainable for them individually.   Probably 10 pounds would be easier for me to lose than for those of you so close to goal weight.  So bottom line is there is NO pressure to set any particular goal.  Just pick one that would be wonderful for you to achieve.  It gives us something to focus on as a group rather than just by ourselves.

Plus it keeps me on the straight and narrow.  Since I'm the one with the bright idea for the challenge I need to do it!

I appreciate each and every one of you.

Guys!! I am feeling good right now!! This Easter challenge is really helping to "keep me in check" Really. GREAT :lightbulb: Patchers!!

When I posted-the last time I had checked (1-2 weeks ago I think) my true scale weight-according to the gym scales (which fluctuate so much I need to get on and off 5-6 times to take an average on each one) said a range from 134-137. Well, today-I got a range of 131-135!! So NO MATTER WHAT I am down 2-3 lbs from the last time I checked it!! Isn't that wonderful??!!

You guys...do you ever get SCARED that when you lose weight-the "bad" eating you already did that week or weekend will "CATCH UP WITH YOU" next week??? I DO. I am always scared when I see a lower number than usual and I almost dont accept it. I think I have a mental problem with that. Just wondering how to deal with it...or if anyone else goes through this too?? AM I normal?

Oh no! I'm so late! I was gone all week and didn't have internet, so I just found this. Great idea patchers! Is it okay if I join late? I think I'd want to get to 135. Last time I weighed myself (about a week ago) I weighed 140 exactly... but that was before my weekend at my boyfriend's house... so I'm going to the gym in about an hour and I'll weigh myself to figure out my exact starting weight.

OWF- I do that too! Worrying about the weekend catching up to me, because that really does happen sometimes! I also worry about getting back from the weekend to see I've gained 5 lbs.! It sometimes works the other way too though... when we had a really good week, but still haven't lost weight, sometimes it all kicks in the next week... of course we don't focus on those as much though .

I think my reward will be a new bikini... one from Victoria Secret... an expensive one, muahahaha

Good luck everyone! Great idea again Patchers!

I always "brace" myself for disappointment.   As you know those scales are soo unfriendly!!!   So, yes I think you are normal.  The fear you have comes from the constant disappointment the scales give you.    Congratulations - 2 more pounds!!!

That summed it up nice Patchers. I weighed myself yesterday. It was at around 6:00 at night, so I had ate and drank quite a bit, and I was wearing work out clothes and tennis shoes. However, I also tried to stop eatting and drinking a while before I went to the rec, hoping it would make the scale a little more accurate. So, the scale read 143.4. I figure 2 lbs. for my clothes... which puts me at 141.4. And, since I'll always be weighing myself this late at night... I think I'll just consider that my starting weight. So...

Starting weight: 141.4

Goal weight: 135

Weight to lose: 6.4 lbs.      Holy :cow: that's a lot!

Oh cool CG! It's nice to have someone with the exact same goal! What are you going to be trying to lose the weight? I'm just going to keep my calories around 1500-1700, get around 30% protein and less than 20% fat... I'll also have 2 maintenance days/ wk. Is that about what you're going to do?

Calories 1500-1700, yes. Maintenance days, probably not. If I tried to go maitenance I usually get carried away and go into the 2000s...

I just joined Curves, so I am going to try to do 3-4 times a week on that, and then hopefully a little treadmilling on the other days time allowing.

It is neat that we are working for the same thing, starting at the same place  Let's do this!

I'm sure you can handle that Ella Luka!

CG- yeah, I go into the low 2000's on my maintenance days too. But I don't mind the calories as much as the high fat intake I get (mostly from chips, philly cheese steaks, and pizza). It will be interesting to see if our methods work about the same or not.

Don't beat yourself up too hard OWF. I'm sure you didn't actually gain three pounds. You would've had to have consumed 10,500 calories over your limit! The food is probably just all still in you. Plus... one bad day won't hurt too bad... you can make it up.

Hi Emma,

Glad you have decided to join our merry band of Easter Challengers.  I have added your name to "the list".  Easter is on April 8th.  With your added goal if we all do well we could dump about 90 pounds as a group!!!!!

Keep posting!

Grr...I was up to 140 last night. But, I think (hope?) it is water rentention, because I had a lot of salty foods Friday.

Too, I am trying to look at it this way. I made myself a weigh tracker. According to the weight tracker, I should have been 140 last week, and 139 this week. So, I am really only a pound behind, even if that is a true weight (which honestly, I don't see how it can be---I made a few bad choices last week, but surely not 7000 calories worth of them?!).

How about everyone else? Anyone else weighing in between, or not til Easter?

My latest weigh in was this morning after biathalon class at the gym. I weighed 133, then 135 on  one scale and 135 on another. so I weigh 133-135 right now. I guess thats not the end of the world-as I weighed 134-137 when we started this challenge. Its hard to tell with the inaccuracy readings of both scales so I take an average. So I have dumped at least one pound, maybe 2 if I am lucky!

I've added you to the "Challenger " list.  As a group we could lose 100 pounds or more if everyone meets or exceeds their goal.  WOW!  Thanks for joining us Zenobia!

Sounds like everyone is staying focused on the "goal".  My weight has been stuck for a few days on 289 but that is still 3 pounds down from Ash Wed. when we started this, so all is good.

Note:  I've been having trouble with my Mediacom high speed internet this weekend, so if you post something to me to add, it may take me a few days to add it in.  I anticipate several hours of being on hold to the tech people tomorrow to fix this. errr!  I could get access to the cph site from work tonight but forgot my password so I couldn't post, just read, but when I got home the internet was back on after not being able to log on all day before work.  I don't have much patience for stuff that doesn't work when you are forking out good money for it!

Glad everyone is pushing towards our goal.  I know I am.

Hootmom way to go!!!

Hey Emma- what does stone mean? Like when you said 15 stone 13 and 15 stone 8. Does that mean 150 + 13  and then 150 + 8? I've never heard that before. Anway... great job on the 5 lb. loss!

One stone is 14 lb, so "15 st 13" is 223lb and "15 st 8" is 218lb. Check out Peter's Weights & Measures Converter

I got to the gym early this morning and weighed myself! I'm at 139.7! Only 4.7 lbs. to go! That sound like a lot less than 6 lbs. even though it's only 1.3 lbs. less. Seeing results makes me want to push harder. I'm going back to the gym later tonight!

Way to go StuckSara you are doing great.  You are going to push us over the top on that challenge.  I wish I could say that I am losing a bunch but so far I'm down 3 pounds with 7 more to go to meet my challenge goal.
