You and I have the same target weights, although I have a bit more to lose than you, as I am in the 160s!  (Yikes!  I definitely dont like those numbers).

And you are right, it does take a lot of a person to carry around an extra 20 pounds, any extra fatty bulk like that really does take its toll!  I hadn't even thought about that, but it's totally on the money.

At my current weight, I have a lot less energy than I did a few years ago when I was in the 140s.  And when I was in the 130s and pretty active, I had even more energy.

I would dearly love to get back to the 130s and feel that full of vitality again.  Extra fat really zaps it!!!  you nailed it.

Amen Ladies!   You said it!   It feels ever so much better at a lower weight    Just think about lugging home the grocery sack.........not easy to carry those that might have a bag of flour or sugar in them (although I almost never have to buy that anymore).   I have been eating :apple: :apple: for my fruit, Scoobs.    Do you have apple season in Ohio?   I just wait for the fall and fresh orchard apples!  :apple: :apple:  Of course, for the hubs that means apple crisp :yum: .......which is why I had to buy a bag of sugar last week.   I'd also picked up some salsa, and black beans, and chili beans..........man!   To think that is about the amount of extra weight (or more) I'm carrying around each day on my body!

Congrats on the weight loss, Scoobs!   I know you want it off quicker.........but, remember you've been losing it at a nice steady pace!    And like you said, it's been 2 years since you've seen the 130's.........give it a bit of time, it will come off!   It's been 2 years for me too, since I've seen the 150's!   I don't know what I weigh, as I've still not gotten on the scale..........it's kinda neat to concentrate on the food, and eating healthy, and not worry about the scale.   I estimate in my head, about my weight, by how my clothes are fitting.    And the new pants I bought mid-August, which I could barely get on at the time, now move independently of my body when I move.   That's such a good feeling...............instead of pulling the fabric along when I move.

Have a good week!   You might have to let me know about BL this week.   We have a retirement party at work that night, and I'm going to a Christian concert after the party.   Since the digital switch-over, my DVD/VCR won't recognize the digital NBC station.   All the others are fine..........not sure if I can convince the hubs to play around with that tonight or not.   It's our night together (his night off), so hate to waste it on that!

Thanks for stopping in guys!!!

Another long week, but it was okey dokey I guess.  It was TTOTM :dizzy: and I felt SO darn hungry every single day - even AFTER I ate. :nono:  Don't know if was due to my period, or the sudden cold streak that made me feel like a bear wanting to stock up for hibernation.  I fought the hunger pangs pretty well, although I did increase calories a bit.  Maybe I was just eating too little and it caught up with me?  Who knows I guess.  Maybe I should go back to a more zig zag approach once again; then at least I balance some of my lower days with the higher ones.

I worked out every day this past week except for yesterday (Friday) :ribbon:.  I started feeling a bit under the weather.  Sometimes during my period I do end up with a cold/flu thing during the winter months just from my immunity being a bit lower.  I noticed a tad of a sore throat coming, and a tiny cold sore/fever blister (?) on my bottom lip corner which are both tell tale signs something is coming. :dizzy:  Bummer.  I feel a bit better this morning after about 10 hours sleep.:tongue:  Still a bit of a sore throat, a little achiness, etc.  Hoping I can hold it at bay...sure can't afford to miss any work!

And today was weigh-in day again - another pound gone! :down_arrow:  Yes!  I was a bit worried as I indulged pretty good last weekend  and didn't eat as low as usual this week.  What a relief.  Still going slowly down...

Oh and another thing - My son (21) found his first apartment and signed the lease yesterday with his buddy. :crying:  I am happy & sad about this.  He's still real close to home (until we have to move, that is) so I figure he'll still be stopping in a lot; around dinner time possibly?

awww, scooobs, your baby is a man:grin:  Ha, I still remember the post you wrote about freaking out when he went on his first spring break...and I was writing "oh, it's okay" and thinking "I will not tell her my own spring break stories, I will not tell her my own spring break stories".   Seriously, you must feel so proud that you've succeeded in a huge job well done - creating an independent responsible adult from a totally dependent infant.  That's an accompishment plus.  Personally my heart and body are starting to go "want baby, want baby, want baby NOW" - but the head is going "must resist, must resist, must resist TILL LATER" - sorta like craving cheesecake when you're on a diet.:dizzy:

HA!  Now you tell me!  I've caught tiny snipets of some of his spring break tales, and trust me - I put my hands over my ears and did the ole 'LaLaLaLa'.   There are some things I really, really don't need to know.

Thanks so much for your thoughtful post, Suenos!  It just seems like only yesterday I held his hand and cried along with him into Kindergarten. :crying:  And cried all the way back home.  His K teacher is STILL at the school I work at and we still talk and laugh at how I just couldn't let go.  Kinda embarrassing, but...  Mommy's boy always.

He spent last night at the new apartment even though most of his things were still here. :dizzy:  He and his roomie just had to go out and buy a HUGE TV before anything else.  Even though they both HAVE TVs.  ??  I guess I know where their priorities are; who needs food, supplies, etc when you can have a humungous TV?

Of course on his last trip here last night he rummaged around for snacks, pop, the dinner I just cooked, bananas, a towel & washcloth (!!) and tossed everything in a box...gave me a big hug, said I love you Mom and off he went.

Till today.  He's still working on getting his bed out of here. And entertainment center.  And I am STILL doing his laundry tonight.

Did he really leave at all?:tongue::tongue:  Ha!  I have a feeling I'll actually be seeing more of him than before lol!

Suenos my dear, your time is coming!!!

Off to watch The Biggest Loser tonight!!

That is so sweet and nice about your son, that is something you should be proud of.  I left home when I was 17 as I started college early and I remember my Mom crying and giving me a hug and saying that this was the hardest thing she'd ever done.  At the time I knew she was sad, but I didn't quite understand why it was so hard, I just thought she'd feel proud, but it has to be a weird feeling when your baby is grown.  It's the end of a big chapter in your life!  My Mom told me my Dad would go into my room and lay on the bed and cry sometimes (quietly) the first few months I was gone from home.  I thoght that was really sweet.  (My Dad has definitely gotten more sentimental as he's gotten older).

Now, when my brother leaves home, my family will just breathe a big sigh of relief.  The poor bastard's been kind of difting along with no direction his whole life--he's never moved out and he's had addiction and legal problems since he was a teenager.  He's trying to enlist in the military right now, and we're all hoping he can get in and feel like he has a purpose in life.  (I'm honestly not much of a military gal myself but anything that can help my brother is good in my book).

Wow.  Woe is me.  It's been 10 days since I've posted, and I've eaten like a :pig: the last 8 out of 9 days.  Except for today, that is.  I was doing so well; so consistent with diet & exercise, consistently losing small amounts of weight each week - then bam.

I know I've been bumming with the 'empty nest' thing a tiny bit.  Not a huge deal, I still see my son a lot.  This could be an exciting time in my life; too bad hubs works so much we can't enjoy things more.  And when he is around, we celebrate by eating out. :dizzy:

Another thing has been the eating out thing.  A few of hubs heating & cooling estimates panned out, and he's been getting a few more jobs at the garage - and what's the first thing we do when we FINALLY have some money??  EAT.  Well, that is after the bills were paid lol.  A huge shopping trip to Sam's Club really did me in, too.  We did buy a lot of stuff for our son's new apartment, too (he was SOOOO thrilled!!) but why did I let hubs put a $16 cheesecake in our cart????  Who even buys a $16 cheesecake????  Apparently we do. :dizzy:

I haven't exercised except for today either.  I have a cold that just wants to hang on.  Not bad, just annoying.

Anyway, that's about it in a nutshell.  I hope I've nipped this one in the bud.  The scale said this morning that my recent food-fest netted me a 4 pound gain.  Sure hope that's not true!!  I'll check again in a few days after some bloating subsides.  You know it's time to get back on track when your sports bra is really snug.  And I'm NOT gifted in the boob department.

Another thing I'm contemplating again is quitting Curves.  I do love it there, but I think I may want to join a regular gym once again.  I pay way too much at Curves for no amenities at all.  At the time it was what I thought I wanted because of my bad knees, but I'm sure some of the classes at World Gym would be low impact enough for me to try.  I miss the old days and the variety of group classes offered!  I just may schedule an appointment in the next couple of weeks and check it out.

Ok, shut up Scoobs...it's almost 10 pm and I haven't ate dinner yet!

Hi stranger!!!!!  When you're done buying stuff for you son's place pop over to my house...my boy says we "need" a new big enough to fill half the wall t.v - I say we don't.  But if you're buying we can stop fighting about it:grin:.

I think you're right about Curves vs. a traditional gym membership.  Depending on which gym you chose you'll get sooooo much more for the $$$$ (free weights/sauna/pool, variety of classes, etc.).  Don't feel toooooo bad about you mini fast food spree - check out what I ate yesterday:devil: and you'll feel practically virtuous.

Yay!  I did it!  I signed back on with World Gym again - today!  I can't tell ya how excited I am to dive right in.  I was a member at their old location from '94-'99 and LOVED it there.  But it got too pricey for me and I left when my last year's membership ran out.  Now they are at a location a lot nicer, but a bit farther away.  I had an appointment to check it out today (4:00) and by 5:00 I was already at Curves cancelling.  When I make my mind up on something - yikes.

I did love it at Curves, but I need a bit more.  The contract I signed there requires a 30 day notice of cancellation, but the owner said she wouldn't deduct my next monthly fee anyway - how nice of her.  I did have to write, sign and date a note about wanting to cancel though.

I always get a little nervous about going somewhere new, so I thought it would be a good idea to make the appointment today, and get the 10-cent tour of the place to feel a little more comfortable.  For some reason I feel more relaxed when I know where everything is lol.

I have a free personal training session scheduled for Monday @ 5:00.  I've NEVER had a training session before...if someone like Jillian Michaels comes out that door - I am running!!!!!!!!!:wink:  No, just kidding, heck, I NEED someone like her!

I will probably go tomorrow to get my feet wet.  They don't offer many classes over the weekend - I noticed Pilates, yoga and Zumba on the schedule she gave me, and some sort of bootcamp class  that I am probably sooo not prepared for.   Some of the things offered I don't know exactly what they are but I think their site gave definitions of the classes.  I don't want to end up in something insane or high impact that would kill my knees.

My goodness, I am going to have sooo much fun again.  I just know it!  I am one of the weird girls that actually looked forward to going to the gym lol. :dizzy:  I hope I get that same attitude back once again.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Well, good intentions and all...

I woke up so excited (me!) yesterday morning because I knew I was going shopping (yay!) for a few cute workout clothes and go to the gym.  Unfortunately not long after I got out of bed, I had several bouts with diarrhea.  Sorry, TMI I know. :dizzy:  Man, I've been sick off and on with cold symptoms, but nothing too serious.  I feel better one day, a bit worse the next, and so on.  But this was totally unexpected lol!  Haven't been having stomach issues at all.  I felt fine though.  Always something.  But that didn't stop me from the shopping part later on.

I normally shop at Penney's or Kohl's, but I noticed online that Wal-Mart seemed to have some deals.  Wow!  I got 2 different workout pants (cute, too!) for only $13 each, and the tops were just divine!  One type was $7, the other $8 - so I bought 2 of each lol!:tongue::cool:  Next paycheck I'll get a couple more pants and more sports bras and then of course by then I'll need new gym shoes.  Again, always something.

This morning I had a smaller bout with the above mentioned thing.  My stomach feels fine though.  Don't know what's up, but in about 30 min I am sooo off for my first workout at the gym.  I figure I'll start slow and check out all their cardio equipment and with any time remaining I'll visit the women's weight room.  See if I can remember how to operate any of the machines.  Nothing major though; I want to be semi-fresh just in case they beat me up at that training session tomorrow!

Holy :cow: I had a great workout! :star:  I wish I would have got there a little bit earlier to checkout out everything (they close at 4 pm on Sundays), but it was great.

It's been ages since I've been on a treadmill - I burned up the motor on mine at home. :dizzy:  Theirs was surprisingly easier on my knees than I expected.   Then I tried out one of their ellipticals - it was great also.  Mine aggravates the knees sometimes.  This seemed to be ok.  Then lastly, I hit the bikes - and the seats are WAY more comfy than mine.  I only had very few minutes in the women's weight room but I did try out a set on all the upper body machines before I left.  I was glad it was empty in there; it's a little embarrassing to have to take the time to read how to operate each one.

Anyway, that hour flew by; way faster than here at home.  At least you have passers-by to glance at, TVs galore, etc.

By the way, I was a little disappointed in one of my new exercise shirts.  Talk about sweat stains!  I assumed it was a moisture-wicking material, but I guess not lol!  After I was done and into the locker room, the giant mirrors showed some pretty impressive wet spots under my pits & boobs & my back.  Ah well, at least you could tell I really must have worked out.  Very pretty!

Off to get a few groceries before they close!

 I can't feel my legs

Yeah, that free personal training session went, umm, well.

Now, I understand this is a gym (and a business lol) and of course they are trying to sign you up for a trainer; but of course I am not financially able for that right now - heck I'm lucky to be able to even join.  But after today, I do think having a trainer would be cool.  Gosh, they even do all your nutritional stuff and have your workout sessions even when you are NOT scheduled with a trainer all ready for you on cards in your file.  So neat.  But the absolute bottom of the barrel, lowest thing possible would be one session a month, your nutritional needs, and all your workout cards - for $45 month.   In addition to your gym fees.  Not a chance right now, but maybe someday?

He sat me down and did some talking at first.  Lots of questions for me and what I wanted, some of it was just plain info.  Most of it was stuff I know - like the importance of building that good ole lean muscle mass.  We disagree slightly on his 18-20% BF goal for me though.  Sorry, I am 46 years old and have no plans on being an athlete.  Or want to work as hard as one lol.  How bout 20-23% Or more? HA!  He's talking things like me adding 7-10 lbs of muscle and burning an extra 3800 calories a week doing nothing.  Sounds great of course.  Also sounds like a lot of work.  You KNOW me.  The Queen of Cardio.  And of course, that lean mean trainer dude does NO cardio.  Sigh.  He says he is 6% BF.  And admittedly eats plenty of junk.  Gah.

So, in a nutshell it seems like his plan would consist of a 5-8 min cardio warm-up, weights, and 30 min limit on cardio afterwards.  Of course he rolled his eyes when I told him I did an hour of cardio yesterday.   I don't think anyone will ever be able to beat it in my head that you shouldn't do more than 30 min.  He's telling me I'm just burning up my own lean body mass by doing anything more.  I know, I've read it before; but do I really believe it.  I just keep thinking more is better lol.  I will try it his way...maybe.

Feel free to interject here Suenos - goddess of all things muscle-related lol.

So, here's what he had me do: cardio warm-up, body ball wall squats, walking lunges back & forth across the room,  plie squats with a 15# kettlebell, regular squats while raising a bar to shoulder height, and bench step-ups that killed me; then my 30 min of cardio.  I may have omitted an exercise, not sure.  I was a little overheated near the end of that.  I tried to convince him that I didn't want to do the bench step-ups; didn't work.  He did lower the weight bench as low as it would go, but that is still way too high for my height.  With these bad knees, I don't know if that's cool or not.

He knew he pretty much wasted my legs.  I think he got some sort of joy in knowing I was jello.  After my cardio and looking in on a Zumba class for a few minutes I got my stuff to leave and told him bye, and that I could not feel my legs - and he said good.  LOL  Unfortunately now I can feel them.  Yeah, everything is sore already.  I'll bet ya I won't be able to walk tomorrow!

So, after all that complaining, it would be so cool to have a trainer.:wink::dizzy:

Tomorrow I'd like to try their cardio circuit class.  Supposed to be intervals of cardio and strength training using the step and weights.  You know I just want to try everything at least once.  Then I will try to figure out some sort of plan...

Gosh Scoobees, those exercises seem like they would be terrible for your knees.  I know they would mine.  I refuse to do squats and lunges, no matter how good they are for you.

Hey Nancy - thanks for your input!  I know, I am so on the fence about moves like that anymore.  The only thing my orthopedic doc mentioned about squats & lunges was to not do them with heavy weights...and if it hurts - don't do it.  The trainer knew about my OA and didn't have me pick up any weight besides that kettlebell.  But I do think that the weight bench step-ups were a bit over the line.  But part of me really wanted to see if I could do them!  Yeah, that will no longer be funny if I am in pain tomorrow.  It's hard to figure out what do to sometimes.  I will have to give their lower body machines a try and see how that feels.  Maybe I can find a compromise somewhere!!

Still going strong and having a ball.  Took a class yesterday called 5-5-5 which rotates 5 min of step aerobics and 5 min kickboxing and 5 min of hi-low; ends with a bit of weights and abs.  It was soooo much fun to be group exercising again!  I used to have a great time with step classes in the old days - the more intricate the choreography the better!  Then I finished up with some sort of Precor Cross-something or other machine that feels like you're mountain climbing...yikes, 15 min and off of that thing.

Today I intended to take a class called turbo kick (hoping it was something like turbo jam) and thought I read 6:30 on the schedule, but it was actually 6:15.  They were pretty much done with the warm-up when I walked in.  Maybe next week.  So I warmed up then did upper body weights and finished off with 30 min on the elliptical.  Good workout.

Tomorrow is a beginner Zumba class. :chicken: Hope I don't chicken out.

Hey Scoobees, I'm glad your knees are no worse for the wear due to the squats and lunges.   Maybe you hit it just right.   That Precor elliptical is really good for leg exercise and it doesn't stress your knees.   Try pedaling backwards sometime.  That's a real killer.

Hey Nancy - they didn't seem to bother my knees but I noticed last night the one is getting a bit sore.  Figures.  Probably just not used to all these different varieties of activities all at once. I'm like a kid in a candy store trying out every class & machine I can get my hands on.  It's probably a warning sign to slow down a bit though.

Well, tonight's beginner Zumba class went pretty well.  Thank goodness I have the ability to laugh at myself.  It was a blast though.  It wasn't hugely aerobically intense; but some of that was due to my fumbling around trying to get the moves.  I will try it again next week though; I think I need a bit more work before hopping into the regular Zumba class!!:tongue:   I finished off with 30 min on the treadmill just in case I didn't get enough calorie burn.

Tomorrow night is a kickboxing class I'd like to try, but I think I read it includes jumping rope which I obviously will not do with these knees.  Hopefully I can check with the instructor before class begins.

Tomorrow is FRIDAY!!!

 Tonight's kickboxing class was a little more involved than I expected.  You actually need gloves and really punch & kick those big standing padded thingies.  I was just expecting a regular aerobic class with those moves.  It was awesome!  Way beyond my expertise, but what a workout!   A guy also held pads and you did certain punches & kicks at him too.  I was drenched!  I really thought about running away from that one; but so glad I was brave and stayed.  I think I will try that one again next Friday; hopefully my form will improve eventually.  Heck, even if I don't miss the bag thing when I kick I'll be happy.

Thinking of a rest day tomorrow.  That was 6 in a row and my knees are feeling a little iffy.  It's hard to take a day off when everything is so new and fun.  If I do go, it'll have to be lower body day again...ugh.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Definitely decided upon a rest day today.  Finally got a bit of rest (yay!), still feel a bit beat up, but more importantly I really need to be more careful of those knees.  I don't want to keep pushing it and end up being forced to take a few weeks (or more) off.  That would suck.

This morning's weigh in blew me away.  Last Saturday I was 159.5; today is 157.0! :star::star::star::star:  My body must be going haywire with the flurry of all those new activities.  Gosh, I wish it was like this every week!  But I will just hope for continued steady losses.  At least it sure kicks in that ole motivation.

Anyway, going to enjoy this rest day; off to the grocery store (again! :dizzy:) and do some errands.

Yey Scoobs...and I mean Yey!!!!!  Wow you sound so happy with your gym and your work-outs and your loss - I am totally grinning over here cause I'm so happy that you're happy!

And about the weights vs. limited cardo thing - totally with your trainer on that.  Seriously, a lot of forms of cardio are really bad for your knees - especially running - and I say that as someone who loves to run but has cut waaaaay back.  If you want to get "little" (i.e. tight/lean/low bodyfat%) and be able to eat like a "normal" person more often than not, you can accompish that with a good weights routine and very little cardio.  With your knees, don't EVER let anyone talk you into doing lunges though - seriously - even without weights.  But, if you've got a trainer who knows his stuff and takes you to below parallel with good form and light weights - squats will do amazing things to/for your butt and thighs.

eta: almost forgot...I've been using this a lot lately and thought I'd share it with ya (it's kinda fun) http://www.sugarstacks.com/fruits.htm

Hey Beth & Suenos - thanks for the congrats!!

I really am so happy that I made the change to this gym.  Why oh why did it take me so long to realize I belong back there again??  It has brought back so many memories of the 'old' days  (like 10-15 years ago!!) when I was so happy with my gym routine.  I would take my son every evening - he absolutely had a ball in the childcare center; it was a win-win situation.  Friends thought I was absolutely weird because I would always look so forward to going every night.

Anyway, I hope to balance all my excitement & eagerness into something that won't put my knees out of comission.  Too much of a good thing and all...

I don't have much of a plan thus far.  If I can get there tonight, I really want to check out their lower body machines and get a bit of cardio in.  My lower body was so sore all last week from that training session that I stayed far away from any more weights.  The rest of the week will consist of taking a couple of those classes again that I think I liked, and taking a couple I haven't tried yet.  And then I can decide more definitely where to go from there.  I'd like to have designated 'class' days and 'weights/cardio machines' days if possible.  It really helps to have a bit of a plan.

Then I figure I'll dig thru my old old old gym logs and see what weight routines I used to love doing and what worked for me.  Goodness knows I always kept a notebook with me back then.  Eventually I will have to get some sort of routine down...I don't want to be winging it forever.

And Suenos, thanks for the advice on the lunges.  I will definitely take that to heart.  I do think if I try to squat below parallel though - someone better be able to pick me up off the floor.:tongue:  So much for the amazing butt and thighs huh?

It'll be hard for me to internalize the limited cardio idea.  I know it's true; but perhaps I've been watching the Biggest Loser for too many seasons??  But I sooo do want to be that definition of 'little' of yours while eating close to 'normal' also!!!

Speaking of eating - wow!  I've been ravenous all week.  At first I thought it was because of TTOTM, but I'm sure it was due to all that new activity.  I even wake up like a starving lunatic. :chewing::chewing:  I averaged around 1600 all week; a few higher and a few lower.  But yesterday was 2279!!!!  It's hard to know what to do when your body is saying eat - but you are afraid to up your calories any further and negate all that hard work in the gym.

And, yesterday's 157 wasn't just a fluke!  Scale read the same this morning - yay!

Hey guys - Nir just started the Holiday Challenge!! I am soooo in.  It'd be just great to finish one for a change.  Let's go!

ETA:  I did make it to the gym after all.  Warmed up on bike, did lower body, then 30 min cardio on bike.  I don't think I'll be using the leg press machine anymore though.  I used to really like it, but it now makes my knees feel funny.

Monday again.  Weekends seem to just fly by.

I was hoping to catch a :cat:nap before the gym, but my son stopped by for a visit when he got off work.  Had a nice chat.  I do miss him a lot but he stops by very frequently - and this time he didn't even take any food or drink with him.  He actually went grocery shopping!  What?!?

Had a great time at the gym.  I took another cardio circuit class (45 min) and just modified anytime the moves got high impact.  And then when class was over, who walks in but an aerobics class instructor & her sister that I knew in those old days at the gym!  I was sooo excited AND they even remembered me lol!  So of course I had to take her class, too.  It's called muscle madness (45 min) and luckily complimented the one I took previously.  Mostly stuff with weights, weighted bars, swiss ball, etc.  We talked for a bit afterwards; it was just so neat to see them again.  Gosh, when was the last time I worked out for 90 min??:tongue:

Tomorrow I actually have off work (parent/teacher conferences) but the company I work for has the nerve to call a mandatory meeting. :dizzy:  Drag this ole butt out of bed for an hour and a half meeting?  Boo.  What kind of day off is that? :nono:  Oh well, at least we get paid for it, but still...

Ok, time for FOOD!!! :chewing::chewing:

For some reason (possibly my warped mind) I find this amusing.  The ups & downs of my life - I am sooo dizzy.

Ok, now I'm off for that food I mentioned...:chewing:

ummm scoobs, do you realize that according to notations on the bottom of your graph, if you'd just had a daily deficit of 84 cals a day from the time you started in 06 - you'd be exactly where you are now?  Isn't that wild.....it's like all those little blurbs that say "if you just cut out one soda a day for a year you'll lose 20lbs" - I never could visualize that somehow....but looking at your graph it makes sense.  But it would sure make for boring diary reading "today I did not drink a soda" - repeated over a thousand times.....or "Biggest Loser - no soda edition":  watch as our contestents don't drink a soda today....and hang on - they'll cry and moan as they don't drink a soda the next day too...see Bob say silly things while Jillian smirks as they don't drink a soda the next day either."  okay, I'll stop now.  Glad you're still loving the gym.

Biggest Loser - No Soda Edition!!!  OMG you crack me up Suenos!:grin:  With my addiction to reality shows, I'd probably be DVRing that one, too.  I didn't even pay attention to that 84 calorie daily deficit - just the .17 pound weekly loss part.  How dreadful lol!  Apparently when you regain like 30 lbs, that pretty much throws off all those hard earned stats.  Ya think?? :dizzy:  BTW, loved your peanut brittle story.

Since my knees were really complaining today, I did upper body weights (41 min) and 30 min on the elliptical today.  I am thrilled that the elliptical doesn't seem to aggravate the knees.  Hoping the pain lessens a bit because I really want to take that turbo kick class tomorrow - whatever that is lol.

I took another aerobics class today - it was fun!  I had to modify a few times during jumping jacks and stuff, but it was all good.  I probably should have stayed home though since the knees have been really bad.  The class didn't seem to hurt them any worse, but I hopped on the treadmill for a short time before going home and that seemed to be a totally bad decision.  Ugh.  I knew this was coming, but it just sucks.  I love doing all this stuff and it just feels like I'll always have setbacks.  Can't a person who enjoys working out be able to do so? :nono:  I've been on a high lately and I don't want it to stop!!!

Time to get some dinner - starving as usual. :chewing:

Wow!  Haven't checked in for a bit.  Busy, busy, busy.  But good.  Still going regularly to the gym; did take a few days off when the knee flare ups were too much.  I tried to be smarter this past week in regards to the workouts.  It's hard when you're very motivated (for once ) to actually slow down.  But now when I take a class, I force myself to leave once it's over.  That's it, no more.  When I go to do weights, I end with 30-45 min cardio, that's it, no more.  I think I finally realize how dearly I pay later when I overdo it.  It's fun when I'm doing it, just not so much the next day. :dizzy:  The limping, the swelling, etc.  Not good.  My joints just simply can't do it all anymore.

Another good weigh in - 2 pounds down. :down_arrow:  Yes!

I'm off to treat myself to something.  Maybe some more workout clothes?

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Ahhh, what wonders sleep can do for a person!  There's nothing like the weekend.  I took the whole weekend off of exercise, too.  The knees are happy about that.

I did go shopping yesterday but didn't find anything I really, really wanted - so I just bought groceries instead.  Tomorrow is my :birthday_cake: birthday :birthday_cake: anyway (omg - 47!) and I figure we'll be probably going out to eat one of the days next week or weekend and thinking of seeing that movie 2012 also (which includes that TUB of popcorn of course )...and maybe some shopping?  Better save the money for that.  And saved my sort of 'cheat day' for that also.  Usually I splurge on Saturdays, but just in case cake is in my near future and some sort of sinful meal, I thought I better save it for next week.

I did go a couple hundred calories higher yesterday though.  I've been averaging around 1500-1600 normally and found myself up to 1784 last night.  And even woke up starving once again. :dizzy:  To my surprise the scale went down another pound :down_arrow: this morning!  154!  I'm not counting it because I weigh in on Saturdays, but that's a good start for next week.  Figures.  I didn't exercise and I ate more.  No wonder losing weight can be so frustrating at times.

Anyway, I'm just hoping to stay on this wonderful track.  By Christmas, I just may be quite noticeably slimmer.  Of course, that requires a new outfit ya know!   :gift:

Since hubs is real busy the next few days, we probably won't be doing any b-day celebrating tomorrow so I'll be taking my 2 favorite classes at the gym.  A great cardio one followed by a resistance one.  That oughta wipe out any cake the co-workers may surprise me with!  They both know I'm dieting...hopefully they just bring me a piece of fruit or something. :apple:

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Well, they didn't bring fruit.  My boss brought me in a cheesecake for my birthday.  And SHE'S the one who's dieting also. :dizzy:  So, yeah, I ate a piece with my co-workers and it was simply delicious. :chewing::yum:  And was forced to bring the rest home with me.  I was hoping it would be GONE by today but it's still there.  Anyway, it made me workout all the harder last night!

Apparently once you turn 47, you also start becoming senile. I actually arrived at work without my glasses this morning!  What?!? :nono:  Ok, granted, I am not blind by any means; but it sure makes seeing the kids names on the computer just a tad hard; tried to go by their pictures and THAT was even hard.  I think I gave myself a headache from squinting all day.

Absolutely fantastic class at the gym tonight.  A cardio circuit one...left me happily drained and very sweaty.  Turbo kick tomorrow - yay!

Forgot to mention, my wonderful sweet son shopped store to store the other day looking for me a new pair of Scooby slippers for my Bday!  Awww!!!!  He couldn't find any so he got me the next best thing - a Kohl's gift card AND an adorable pair of Xmas booties with the lil tassels.  What a great kid!

Hi Scoobs!   Thought I'd pop in now that I'm back to the land of the living...........at least most of the time.   I'm very frustrated........I've fallen asleep through the last 3 episodes of Biggest Loser!   Grrrrrrr!    Can you tell me who went off last night?   How did they look in their current segment?

Thanks for checking in with me..........this flu really hit me hard.   I'm still so tired!   I fall asleep so early at night, and after the hubs leaves for work at 5:30 in the morning, I zonk out again, and have trouble waking up and getting ready for work.   However, I must say, I couldn't go to work without my glasses.........if I could find the door going outside..........I could never get in the van and get it started or backed out of the garage!

You are doing so great!   Keep it up, my dear    I need some inspiration :shooting_star:

Hi Hisgal!  Great to see you around once again!   This past week on the Biggest Loser, Rebecca was eliminated.  However, she looked great in her current segment - and ran a half marathon.  http://www.nbc.com/the-biggest-loser/video/clips/week-10-rebecca/1176728/

Today was weigh-in day, no so impressive, but down a pound.  I got the workouts in this past week, but must admit I knowingly ate a bit too much on some of the days. :chewing:  I will blame it all on my b-day.  And not sure if I am starting to bloat for Monday's TTOTM yet or not.  But a pound is a pound I guess; considering I was everywhere from 154 to 155.5 depending on the day last week. :dizzy:  A solid reason to NOT weigh myself every day.

But wow, I can ALMOST stand to look at myself sideways in the mirror again.  I am down somewhere between 5.5 - 6.5 lbs this past month since joining the gym and it's really starting to show.  It may not be a huge amount of actual pounds, but it's like my body is shrinking.  I really am smaller!  Now, if I can just keep it up!  That's always the problem.

Today is my 'cheat' meal day - we are finally going out for my b-day dinner.  Nothing really special, I chose Applebee's - but we haven't been out in ages so I guess it actually IS special!:tongue:

On the way out to Kohl's right now...that gift card my son got me is burning a hole in my wallet.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!!
