1. They make weight loss a game.
Weight loss is not a game. It is part of being healthy.
2. The weight loss is too rapid.
Rapid weight loss requires dangerous huge calorie deficits.
3. They make weight loss into drama.
Weight loss should be seen as an equation PERIOD!
4. Some shows force morbidly obese people to exercise in ways that could harm them.
5. They praise the "winners."
Weight loss is not praise worthy. Eating less and moving more cause weight loss. Maintaining weight is simply eat the correct amount of calories.

well I get your point, but some of these shows are motivational, like when watching the biggest loser you feel like #%@&! if your sitting there eating chocolate cake watching them all in the gym, it makes you feel guilty.
when i fall off the fitness wagon I´ll watch a weight loss programme and then get back into it, but what I do like is the exercise tips and nutritional tips that they throw in along the way, there should be more of this.
And they normally all have obese people, I´d like to see average looking people that would like to tone up and get healthy. Showing you the right way to do it, no drastic I´ve lost 8 pound in one week #%@&!.
I guess you are kinda right about the "game" idea. ít´s no game, its a lifestyle choice, as long as you are making the right decisions for your body you are a winner, when you can look in the mirror in a bicini and say to yourself that you look good that is winning.

| I agree that these shows can sometimes be motivational, but don't agree with the fact that they make weight loss a game. Diet Coach is spot on - weight loss or maintenance is part of being healthy, its a lifestyle. Being healthy should be the main focus. When one adopts that mindset, making healthy food choices, being more active is naturally the way to go. Our bodies know what they need . Gradual weight loss is healthier and more permanent :-)
