Hiya I get the book next week, I will be in the same #%@&! :) happy to remind you how good it is for you blah blah. I am really looking forward to it. I have listened to a few hours of it on the audio version and it seems fascinating and utterly evil at same time. But I would **** the devil himself if it meant I didn't have to stick needles in me 20 times a day. Good luck xxx

I've been doing it for about 4 weeks and would love to talk to anyone on this forum about it. My biggest hurdle is the no snacking rule. I have lost about 8 pounds so far and think it would be more if I could just stop snacking. I had some pictures taken of me this week while I was out at an activity and I wanted to puke so that might be enough motivation to stop snacking.

I know what you mean, I ran a 5k and I looked like i would barely make it up the hill in the pics (did improve my time though). My friend and I fell off the wagon, majorly. Ate a bunch of mexican and am having to start over. Hello detox phase. How did you make it through??:pizza:

I'm doing well if I just read a few pages of the book each day. All the facts in it just scare me over and over again. I also started running, but my knees have been hurting too much to do it every day. Now that I see those pictures I can tell why: I'm too heavy for my knees!

My husband and I plan to run a half marathon in February (a big goal I know). I honestly just keep thinking of the picture when I am tempted to snack. The first month has been hard with only 8 lbs. gone, but I'm hoping that re-focusing will help me lose more, faster. I WILL have a cheat meal at least once every week or two, it's way too much to ask for me to give up cupcakes. I will just make sure that it is the best, most amazing cupcake ever!

If Mexican food was my crutch I would have it once a week at the best place I knew

Oh you are speaking my language, cupcakes are my favorite. Attacked a GIgi's banana cream pie cupcake this weekend, then found out it had 800 calories, whoops. We are doing several 5ks, at least one a month. My time is pretty good and i can run 3 miles fairly easily. I also zumba twice a week and lift weights twice a week. I"m 5'9 but overweight on the bmi chart. Frustrating I can't lose any. Gain muscle really quick and can tone but can't lose weight. Still wearing same size pants as I did 20lbs ago, so frustrating. My friend (male) can drop weight really easy and it just makes me mad! haha. Let;s keep each other posted and motivated. I am off to zumba now. No calories left for the day so looks like an apple for dinner. depressing.

Good luck everyone. I am taking it day by day. Everytime I choose veggies and fruit over fries and cookies that's a win for me! Little steps! Halloween is gonna be tough.

I'm watching Dr. Furhman on PBS right now! I like to hear what he has to say over and over because it reminds me about things I forget. Like toxic hunger versus real hunger. I'm not even sure I've gotten through toxic hunger. He also said that all the fat that is on the outside of your abdomen is also on the inside! Yuck. I'm so sad for my abdomen.

I also bought a book called the Happy Herbivore Cookbook (I think she has a website) and all her food is based on ETL. So far I've been making some yummy food for my whole family.

We are back on the wagon here, still really tough. Craving sugar bad, and Halloween isn't helping. Doing the veggies raw and cooked each day. Still missing cheese the most so when I do 12 oz of animal product a week I usually select cheese instead of meat. Although, after reading the ETL section on cheese and carcinogens I enjoy less thinking of what I could be putting in my body. I figure though, a spinach salad with a little goat cheese is still better than burger king,,,, right?:apple:

Yes, definately better than Burger King. I am probably eating more beans than I should but I'm not really a green leafy veggie eater--I don't know why I thought I could do this. My husband wants to go on Weight Watchers--he said he would do it with me. I'm better now--had red kidney beans in my salad. I had a can here so I washed/drained them before I ate, hopefully I got some of the sodium out :-) (I will buy a bag or 2 and cook.) After reading the book and all the success stories it just sounded so easy. NOT!!!

The beans help you feel full! I say eat all of them you want. Ever eat edamame? That's a good filling snack too. I get tired or spinach but found I really like baby arugala bc is kind of peppery.

This is what Dr. Furhman has to say about weight watchers:http://www.drfuhrman.com/library/article4.aspx

I, personally, am just doing my best to follow the 90/10 rule. I made vegan pumpkin bread this week and it was awesome! I only let myself have a few slices a day just reminding myself that ETL says sugar is the fuel that cancer needs.

As far as salads go, I have tried to use things like kalamata olives for a salty kick that I get from feta cheese, or mushrooms for that meaty, chewy feel. I also found a cashew ranch recipe at http://blog.fatfreevegan.com/2012/01/hidden-cashew-ranch-dressing-plus-tips-for-eating-salads-when-you-really-dont-want-to.html
it is so good I could drink it. I just try to add things with strong tastes like red onions or banana peppers. I hate bland, yucky salads and my roommate makes those all the time

Now, to be real, I have been on the diet for 6 weeks and have only lost 7 pounds, but it took me a while to get this fat anyway.

I first read ETL in 2006 but I am still learning and relearning. When I was briefly in his "member center" I downloaded all the Teleconference podcasts and I make sure to listen to one every 10 days for reinforcement (this is easier than re-reading the books which is what I did beforehand)

I keep learning though, for example Yesterday he sent everyone on his mailing list an email entitled "Mushrooms Enhance Immune Function and Protect Against Cancer" in which I found out...

Keep in mind that mushrooms should only be eaten cooked: several raw culinary mushrooms contain a potentially carcinogenic substance called agaritine, and cooking mushrooms significantly reduces their agaritine content.

I have been on ETL 3 weeks now, lost 5 lb so far, I am feeling great. It was not easy to cut off all the processed food and snacks, the first 2 weeks were not 100% ETL it was expected with family of 5 kids, old habits plus detox hunger...etc, but I kept on trying, this diet bring back the energy I used to have, beginning of this week I finally start 100% ETL diet, lost 3 lb effortless in 6 days, I am so happy, I have tried at least 7 diets in the past 5 years, I gained back all I lost + bonus pounds, in the past 18 months, I couldn't lose a single pounds even I only eat 1200 calories a day and hit the gym 3 times a week, the weight always bounce back and forth. ETL diet gives me great energy, I felt that I've found the diet I would like to apply with all my family and carry on rest of my life. I am still new to this diet and still has lots to learn, excited to find a forum to share my progress.
