Well, this is an awkward sort of question to ask, but I'm sure someone out there has an answer for me.
I'm wondering if a digestion problem I'm having can be solved by eating the right kind of fiber-rich foods and which foods they might be.
Whenever I defecate, the "tail end" of my very soft stools is often left inside my anus, and no amount of straining brings it out. So, what is left is mashed up by my sphincter or whatever and everything sticks to all the hair I have back there. Needless to say, it makes for a very messy, drawn-out cleanup. This is embarrassing for me, and pretty annoying. I'm wondering if I can eat anything that will make my stools more firm and all come out in one piece, to make the whole process simpler.
Thanks for not being offended by my tale. It is rather embarrassing. I'm a 21 year old male, 135 pounds, 5' 10'. I am on 50mg of Sertraline daily for social anxiety and 20mg of Adderall for ADD.
Thanks.

I note that your BMI is 19.4 (slim) and am wondering about your starting point, i.e. are you a person who is slim because you are already eating a very large quantity of fruits and vegetables, or are you slim because you are an 'under eater' of all things (including those fibre-rich foods).
A person who does not eat enough fibre would (I expect) have constipation, hard stools that do not want to come out etc, so I am guessing you do indeed take in enough fibre already. Am I right?
Liquid intake may also have a part to play. Too much perhaps?
I used to eat a larger quantity of plant matter (vegetables, fruit) and now that I am eating a bit less, my stools seem a bit darker and a bit less soft. That's just my experience - perhaps others will chime in with theirs.

Hey, thanks for your reply!
No. I have always been slim, and I have never dealt with being overweight - ever.
Nor have I ever considered myself a regular eater of vegetables, I'm actually working on eating healthier, because like most Americans my age, I eat a LOT of junk. (Sugars, soft drinks, fried foods, quick, packaged, ready-to-eat snacks that are loaded with bad stuff, ect...)
I'm not super-active or anything, my genes just make me very lean. Everyone in my family is that way.
Thanks for placing a guess, though.

There is nothing to be ashamed about this. Everyone undergoes constipation at one of time or the other. You should try lemon tea.
Here is the preparation. Half a spoon of tea in a full cup of water. Boil it, add honey (best)/ jaggery - no sugar, its not good for health. It also detoxifies your body and very good for weight loss.
Consume it before bed. Continue this for a week and lemme know. If this has not cured your problem lemme know I will come up with something else. I am an Indian we have excellent home remedies here for all sorts of problem. Get well soon.
