How 'bout it Tontus? I'm calling you out! I weighed in this morning at 211.6 which is about a 2 lb headstart on you. However you seem to be on a serious roll, whereas I am currently at a complete halt. However...I am about to go completely ape-sh*t with dedication. What do you say to this mini-challenge? I know that for me, 199 is a HUGE milestone that I have been longing for, for quite some time now. Anyway could be fun.

Well, today I weighed in at 211.2, so challenge accepted. Should make for an interesting 4 to 6 weeks, however just to let you know, I don't lose. I will start cutting off body parts if I have to.

Ok, it's on!  lol

I weighed in this morning at 210.4 after only one day of my new meticulous diet (which is probably a water weight drop since I've been at this weight for so long). I actually measured and weighed everything. I suppose I was a victim of previously eating many more calories than I had suspected. I certainly felt more deprived last night than usual.

Where I was making bad estimations:
  • My protein shakes- I would always use 'heaping' scoops of protein powder which turned the supposed 157 calorie scoop into more like 185 or 190. Also, the amount of milk that I used to make one shake was literally double the 'actual serving size' of one cup. So my milk calories of 90, turned into 180. With 2 shakes a day, that alone added 246 calories to my day.
  • Peanuts- I keep planters unsalted mixed nuts on the counter for snacks, because of the healthy aspect to eating nuts as well as the heathy 'fats' that they contain. However a couple handfuls of those equals nearly double the actual serving size on those as well. Calories in one small handful of nuts = 170!
  • Dinner- I guess I was semi-cheating on that as well. All the way down to the unmeasured olive oil that I used to wok my vegetables (zuchini and squash medley). Each addt'l Tbsp of that = 120 calories!
Those 3 miscalculations equaled as much as 600 calories alone. Those darn calories add up faster than sh*t! I am certainly going to have to take the time to actually measure all servings from here on out. I can't trust myself to 'eyeball it' any longer. This is no doubt what has been holding me back.

In other words Tontus, barring any impending amputations...you are in trouble.

The chocolate protein shake actually tastes pretty good with just water if you feel the need to cut back on calories. As for peanuts, I recently discovered a few weeks back the best peanuts ever. I can't think of who makes them, but Walmart sells them. They are extremely spicey, and the can has a funny looking guy screaming on the front of it. I have also learned that I should never buy them again because I have no will power and those calories do add up quick. You should try them though, I guarantee you'll love my nuts.

Haha...thats funny.

I am going ultra-strict on myself. No more nuts, and my protein shakes are now strictly 1 measured cup of skim milk, and the rest is water. I can't afford to be this dedicated in my mind, and have all these little 'cheats' adding up to me not getting anywhere. Its like being on a diet forever, with no results. I'm going to weigh and measure everything. Tourproven's going HARDCORE! Having said that, I'm going to a small guitar concert tonight, and we will be eating out. Hopefully i get in a good workout this afternoon.

211.0 this morning, and if my pattern holds true it will be in the right around 210 or slightly under tomorrow morning. Mondays are always higher than Sunday (210.6) and Tuesday, and for some dumb reason I picked Monday to be my "official" weigh in. Anyway, I seem to have made it through this past weekend without any damage. I didn't snack at all during the Super Bowl.

Anyway, I plan on making a real push this week to see if I even have a remote chance of hitting 200 this month. Thats only about half a pound a day which would require about an extra 600 cal burned per day. Not likely to actually happen, but you never know.

you are definately plugging along...

For me, the day before the superbowl, I had friends over for poker and billiards. I ate a drank myself silly with pizza and shots. Fortunately, my hangover was such that the next day, the only food I could keep down was a half a packet of oatmeal. As horrible as that sounds, I only ate 80 calories yesterday (LMAO)..

Anyway, back on track now is all I can do. Measuring everything and going to hit the gym here shortly. I'd like to get to 199 by the end of the month as well.

It's time for me to make a breakthrough!

Tontus- I see you had a weigh-in today at 208.4 , This race is neck & neck. I weighed in Friday at 208.4, and this morning at 208.0.

I am very tired of going through all the right motions of this 'eating healthy' regiment and going to the gym without much results. Probably because of eating too much portions late at night, and the occassional cheat...

That changes now.

I am going under 1500 cals a day from here on out, with a minimum of 1000 cals burned at the gym each day. I was 213 or thereabouts 4 months ago! and been 'on the diet' ever since. But 'diet' by a definition that wasnt' strict enough.

It's on.

I figure I fall between these numbers...

1.375
Lightly Active
Light exercise or sports 1-3
BMR 2,823
 RMR 2,665

days a week

1.55
Moderately Active
Moderate exercise or sports
BMR 3,182
 RMR 3,004

3-5 days a week

In my post I created here:

http://www.caloriesperhour.com/forums/forum19/10134.html

I determined that 1400 was my minumum calorie intake that I should not go below, based on my amount of body fat.

I think this might be a fluke, but I did weigh 3 times this morning and all 3 times showed 205.8. My wii showed me at 207, so I don't know what to believe. I'd like to say the actual scale that is only 19 days old would be more accurate than the video game scale.

I would say to use the scale for weigh-ins and not the Wii.

So you've finally surpassed me. I dont understand why you seem to be losing weight so easily. Have you ever lost weight before in your life? I wonder since I've lost 40-50 lbs twice in my life already, that this 3rd time has become much more difficult for my body to respond?

I'm not giving up.

I've lost 30 or 40 pounds twice before, but never went below 260 until now. I'm not really sure why it's working for me to be honest with you. I feel like I'm eating more (and not better) than I was 6 months ago. I am more active now though. I rarely watch TV, so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it.

I also fixed my guitar hero drumset a couple of weeks ago, and am playing about 2 hours a day. I can't think of any fat drummers, so maybe there's a connection. I also drink more than 2 liters of Coke Zero a day, so I'm sure I get quite a boost to my metabolism from the caffeine.

Last weekend I "invented" circuit training. I decided to run in place for 60 seconds between sets. I had no idea that was already invented though, and only discovered that fact today. Anyway, it seems to have really helped this week, and even with the window open in almost sub-freezing temperature, I'm working up a nice sweat again.

I also adopted a new saying last night - WWTD (what would Tour do). I repeated that while working out, and while turning the light in the kitchen off before going to bed. You could easily change it to "what would Tony do" for extra motivation during this challenge.

This is just my opinion but based your active rmr level I think 1500 calories is to low. Also how often are you switching up your work out routine? You have the attitude to do this so like you said don't give up

Tontus-maybe I should bust out my old 'Ultimate Power' CD collection...I used to be a Robbins fan.

I guess maybe I should have said other than me (only temporary).

Anyway, I know todays reading is a fluke. I ended up working until 4am this morning, so my schedule got out of whack. This morning weigh in was 13 hours after my last meal, while normal is 8 hours or so.

What I did is I just made sure I did a different cardio machine every time I was at the gym. I didn't really change my weight routine with the exception of adding more weight. So just try not doing the same machine more 2 times a week and I'm sure that will help. Plus it will build up your endurance real quick

Hellrazor- I do try to mix up the cardio machines, but currently only use the stair machine, and the elliptical machine. It seems the bike doesn't burn all that many calories, and doesn't work the upper body at all. The treadmill, seems pointless to me because I would rather walk/jog with my dog outside (which I do). I have been trying to encorporate playing tennis back into my routine, however the weather has not been cooperating lately.

That is the problem with weighing every day. Those fluctuations can drive you crazy. Have you checked out http://www.physicsdiet.com? Even with the 2 days of increase, my average weight has gone down, so it's all good.

I havent gone there, but I see the charts that Nir has put up from that site....Way too technical for me. Monday is always a loser weigh-in day for me. I learned that in a challenge back at Halloween. Also, as gross as it sounds-I can't even remember the last time I went to the bathroom. I'm chalking up this weigh-in to me being full of sh*t.....lol.

Do you check your body fat % every day also? If that number is going down, then your still good, regardless of what the scale is doing.

Also, have you recalibrated your scale lately? If you moved it or kicked it, you may need to do that.

Do you have access to a second opinion (ie another scale)?

I think I am carrying a lot of water weight. The last two days I've eaten a ton of salt in the form of chips and popcorn.

Today on the stairmaster, I went for an hour, and sweat so badly it was like it was raining. I was completely soaked afterwards. Much more sweat than usual.

I am not a fan of this weigh-in everyday, now that I think about it. It is far to discouraging to me.

I think we should just have to declare when we hit 202,201, and then the winner (199.9 or less).

I am also starting to think that I am self-sabotaging myself. Everytime I get to 205, I relax and eat my way back to 210. This 200 for me is a real obstacle.

Have you tried  jacking the resistance on the bike? Try raising it up really high and then stand. You can burn close 400-500 calories in 1/2 hr that way or at least I was able to . Also have you tried a rowing machine? You get legs ,upper body in the exercise and you work up a good sweat. I just did it today at a moderate pace and I burned just around around 300 calories in 30 min. So at your weight I would think you would burn more then me.As for the treadmill you can always raise the incline on it really high so it's like your hiking up a hill. Switching things up will really help and making sure you are not to low on food.

If you really want to mix it up, get some big sky hooks, screw them into your ceiling, then get some bungy chords strap them to your ankles and hang upside down to do weight training. LOL.   Hang in there, man, everything will come together, you've worked to hard for it not to.

hey tours, dont feel badly, i have been on a major "easter candy" binge the last week and half, i get it gone and get more! (then, in a week we have the family comin to stay with us, so my diet gets tossed to the curb!) i tell myself its for the others in the house, etc...then i end up eating a majority of it! lmbo....i am up about 4-5 pds now.....but i am ok with it since i know i did it!!

we arent done with our other challenge (SFC) for a month and half, so rest easy work out hard, get your mind back in the game.

sometimes, we set up to do this wonderful thing and we lose track over things we cant control or we get tired. I got tired. I was stressed, i was spending way too much time in my car driving to my gramas and loading her things to bring here and my folks, its been too much for my head, my heart and my belly! and the food broke thru.

i am getting better. its getting easier, yesterday i worked out really well, but i still ate chocolate covered almonds till they were gone....one day at a time...i tell myself!:dizzy::chewing:

i did get my size 10 two piece tank suit, so i feel good now, but i need to put it on every once in a while so i can see changes. Last nite, D told me how much thinner my legs are looking around the upper inner thigh (my hardest part to beat!) and i think he is right...but its taken soooo darn long, how does one not lose heart?

Here is a hug, you have done well!!! You are still here, arent you??? :)

One day at a time superstar!:star::shooting_star:

AND GREAT JOB TO YOU TONTUS! Under 200 ROCKS! :)
