hello, ive looked on this forum and maybe I didnt check back far enough, I dont find anything on amimo acid suppliments. I started to read on them and have started to take a few.L-glutamine, L-tyrosine, L-phenylamine,GABA(evening),all of these are supposed to be helpful to brain function. They help cravings, help the neurotransmitters work efficiently.
ANy experiences out there? Can taking too many cause adverse effects?
Thanx Pris
Adding this from my diet diary topic, cause I think it could be relevant, as Im new to these amino suppliments
Thanx Pris
Hello, im up to 1000? for day, so far. Today I used my amino acid supliments. Seemed to feel fine. Had energy all day, not amped type energy but nice and even. I started out day with usual protein shake, egg sandwich, 1/2 cup strawberry icecream, cup of 10 grain beansoup.
Funny, felt fine all day. Had the soup bout hour ago. TRied to do my ministepper, but feel real tired, nauseous. Could only do 20 mins. Maybe its cause I only had 800 cals yesterday and only about 1000 today. Im not purposely keeping the cals low. Just not been all that hungry. Is it the amino acids? Gonna try to eat more during the day tommorrow. SHould I eat something now? maybe some cereal? My mind feels good, just physically not good. Feel almost like something is stuck in my throat?
Im gonna paste this on the new topic I posted on suppliments, hope its not the sups.
We'll see.

I have never taken an amino acid supplement myself. However, my professor in my advanced nutrition class said that they are really a waste of money, since we get everything we need and more from a healthy diet. That's just one person's opinion, but I respect him, and think he knows what he's talking about. From what you're eating, you're taking in alot of protein - dairy, eggs, beans - so IMO you should be fine without expensive supplements.
Our bodies are pretty efficient at getting rid of proteins it doesn't need, but if we have a big imbalance, such as taking in tons of one AA and lonly just enough of another AA, we could cause deficiency. I don't know the interactions off the top of my head - if I find my notes on it, I'll let you know :) It's probably google-able too.
Hope you feel better soon :( Hope it's not a food allergy that is making you feel weak.
