A lot of us have given mini-reviews of numerous diet pills and their effects, but I'm curious to know what everyone's top picks are for what has worked best for you.

Sorry IndecentOpinion, but gracy was just trying to sell diet pills. And not very clever, at that. Her e-mail address matched the website she was sending you to.
Don't be impressed with losing 10 lb in two weeks. It's what you keep off that matters.
Also be sure you don't look to pills for the solution to weight loss. If you find them an aid, great. But you can't spend your life eating poorly and (trying to) compensate with pills.
Your post was a good idea and I hope you get some good replies.

10 pounds in 2 weeks was certainly not all body fat anyway - even if it were true...

Hi,
i just joined this forum (like an hour ago), and i'm liking it so far.., there are lots of great info here.
anyway, right now, i'm on phentermine (15mg, lowest dose), which is a prescription pill. it's working very well for me so far.., i started on january 6th at 249lbs, and last time i weighed, i was 227lbs. the first week, i lost 14lbs, but i know that was mostly water weight, because i've always had problem w/ bloating. after that, i've been losing around 3-5lbs, every 2 weeks. i have this really good bariatrics dr. that i see every 2 weeks, and that's the only time i weigh myself.
ok, but would i recommend this pill to everyone? probably not... it might be an option for some though..
phentermine is a type of amphetamine so it can be addictive.., especially for those who already have addiction problems. also, it has lots of side effects..., i've been tolerating it well though, but like i said, i'm on the lowest dose.., i only get dry mouth, which is fine, because it forces me to drink a lot of water. this pill is working well for me, because i don't really have an addictive personality... i mean, i've never been obsessive with my weight and what and how much i ate (haha, that's why i'm overweight i guess).. i just needed something to help control my appetite and cravings while trying to get used to a healthier lifestyle.
here's some info about phentermine, from wikipedia... ht tp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phentermine
my dr. says phentamine is meant to used for a short time, while i learn how to eat properly and exercise. and that's exactly what i've been doing. the dr. put me on a 1500-1600cal/day diet, with mostly whole grains, lean meats, lots of fruits BUT no sugar, and no carbonated drinks (not even "diet). the main thing is, i can have carbs for breakfast and lunch, but not dinner and bedtime snack... after lunch, i can only have lean proteins and vegetables. i also have to exercise at least 30min a day, which i have been doing. i just walked for the first 6 weeks, and on monday, i started Turbo Jam (love it!).
when i first started taking phentermine, i started reading on the phentermine forum (phentermine.com), and it's scary how a lot of people there are so addicted! there's people who's been taking it for years, and a lot of them are ordering it online, without a prescription! and a lot of the dr's they're seeing put them on the highest dosage to begin with, and a lot of them are put on a 500cal diets, and they combine phentermine with OTHER drugs... a lot are talking about phen-pro combination.., phentermine + prozac.., supposedly keeps the phentermine working better, longer... scary stuff.......
anyway, another month and a half, and i'll be off this drug... by then, hopefully, i'm accustomed to my new lifestyle.
anyway, i'd like to apologize for my long post.... i'm usually a lurker, and i rarely say much on forums.., i usually just like to read them. but it's past 2am, and i tend to "talk" a lot when i'm tired.. :PLast edited on 25 February 2007 11:42 am by

| I have tried several but kept switching 'cuz it didn't last long. Now I'm on Zylorin, but have started for 2 weeks only, and I hope this will be it, I am sick of having to switch around. Last edited on 29 May 2007 09:04 pm by

smallworld256,
What are you looking for in a diet pill? What would you like it to do for you?
I'd like to better understand why people turn to pills at all.
Thanks,
Peter

| I have taken Adipex off and on for yrs. It is not suppose to be addictive, but I do know that you get a tolerance to it. It gets to where it doesn't work very well and I have to stop taking it for 2 or 3 months. I take it because it ups my metabolism. Anyone know of a better one?

I've been taking Hoodia for a few months now and I lost 15 pounds the first few weeks and have been able to keep it off since then. I started eating a lot better too, and the Hoodia helps me curb my appetite. I probably could have lost more weight but I'm happy where I'm at and now I take it regularly just to maintain my current weight.
Good luck!

| I prefer exercising and dieting alone without using pills but since each body is different then I'm pretty sure each one responds to different diet pills in their own way. Of course some are generally more effective. Last edited on 15 September 2007 04:29 am by

I just wanted to share this success with you. My brother who is obese has been taking Acomplia for now two weeks. Yesterday when he weighed himself, he found that he has lost 10 pds. I was totally bewildered. His starting weight was 240 and he had low obviously dropped to 230 pds. I still can’t believe it. Are there some of you who are taking the Acomplia pills??
That stuff works guys I never believed that it could be ever possible but it is and now I'm considering it as well. I think that I am finally going to opt for medication too.

zuzu,
Please don't think I'm being negative with this comment, but please let us know how he's doing as time goes on. Update us as often as you like, though I would think it would become meaningful after maybe three months.
Also remember that unless he plans to take the pills for the rest of his life (whatever they are... I'm not familiar with them) he will have to learn how to eat well to maintain his weight loss. Or his weight will come back.
That's that catch that confuses me about how pills can be helpful in the long run.
Keep us posted!

I think in most cases people are looking for a jumpstart and not necessarily the "be all end all". I think as long as people know the risks associated with diet pills and implement all the "other" tools associated with weight loss (i.e. proper nutrition, exercise) then they have a really great chance achieving weight loss success without the need for more diet pills in the future. It's the mindset that's important here and nothing is more damaging to the mindset than constant weight loss failure. I certainly don't advocate diet pills whatsoever, but I understand why some people might choose to go down that road.

ello, newbie here. I think I found this forum a bit late but still I would like to share my experience. I used Slim-30 and had very pleasing results and no side effects. All in all I lost about 20 lbs which put me well under weight. The pills are a bit expensive: $60 for 30 pills but if you do a bit of research you can get them for lower $50's.

I've tried a few different types of pills, but I found two that really worked for me. Oddly enough they aren't real diet pills as much as they are stay-awake pills.
The first one was called Swarms. They were the 2nd type of Yellow Jackets that people use as caffeine pills. I found out through a friend that they actually curbed the appetite at the same time. Tried them out and it was true. Yes, it would give me an energy kick, but that was a good thing since I was able to get out and have more energy to actually exercise after work instead of slump down on the couch.
The other ones were Green Tea pills. I loved these, but only one drawback, they gave me heartburn. They did great for the beginning of my diet, but sure enough as soon as I would go to bed at night, the heartburn would start. It took a while before I realized it was the pills, but within a day or two after I stopped taking them, it was gone, so that was that.
Both of these were great for the start of my dieting. BUT after I lost the first 15 lbs or so, I just quit taking them realizing that if I couldn't do it on my own now, I never would. Pills do help when you need a little push, but you'll never do any good if you are taking them for the long run.

A few months ago I purchased Ultra 90 AM & PM. I used it for awhile but stopped taking it because I couldn't fit exercise in to my daily routine (required with these pills). Now that I am doing the Weight Loss Challenge I've started taking them again because I am able to exercise now.
Now I will see how and if they work. I've only heard GREAT results IF you diet and exercise which I think goes hand in hand with every diet pill.

Hi everybody! I also thought about trying a weight loss pill to get rid of my overweight. I did a very good research I think and I have talked to quite many people about this topic. Finally I thought about taking kioslim. Does anybody know this weight loss pill or has anyone even tried that pill?

I personally cannot take any uppers to lose weight, but they seem to be the most popular when you go into GNC. I think I almost had a stroke when taking Ripped Fuel and went for a jog. My head felt like it was going to explode.
Now I have been sampling different natural weight loss pills based on what ingredients I think had some pretty good research backing them. Hoodia got so expensive and is too hard to tell if you were really getting ripped off by fake stuff.
Caralluma Fimbriata is in the same family of plant and is said to do more than just suppress appetite...like block enzymes that store fat and balance blood sugar. It worked on me, but it won't work for everyone. I think like 83% of people are affected by it.
I think the studies on it are on the FDA site when a company tried to register their extract of it. Here it is: http://www.fda.gov/OHRMS/DOCKETS/DOCKETS/95s0316/95s-0316-rpt0252-05-Caralluma-Fimbriata-Extract-vol184.pdf
The thing is that nothing safe works great unless you change you lifestyle and eating habits for life. Exercise with something like this might be pretty effective.

Hello I have tried a few:
Stacker 2's before the ephedra was taken out they worked at keeping me from wanting to eat and also gave me like mega energy with that and the atkins diet I lost 40 pounds in 2 months however, I wouldn't recommend that diet to anyone cause as soon as you start back with the carbs you put the weight back on and often times a few extra pounds!
I tried Hoodia, that pill did nothing for me either didn't surpress my appitite at all.
I've had Phentramine and ugh whats that other fat blocker ugh I can't think of it but she perscribed the Phentarmine and some fat blocker well they worked okay but that fat blocker oh yeah had some nasty things that went along with them, lets just say passing gas unless you were over a toliet wasn't a good idea! Sorry if that was TMI!
Hydroxy Cut didn't do much for me either!
My husband has some put out by MPH and they have worked to give me energy to do what I need to do to work out and take care of the house, I have a total lack of energy I have been able to do good without anything for my appitite I just have no get up and go.

I can honestly say, I tried pretty much anything available. always looking for an easy fix. a bottle of xenadrine (when it still contained ephedrine) here, a little phen there. I didnt wanna know better and I'm sure it wasn't good for my health. any of it.
that was, until 3 years ago. when I decided, I wanted to get fit and most importantly stay that way. since starting the whole process was where I always failed (coze it takes sooo darn long to really see improvements when you're obese) I asked a good friend who happens to be a medical sports doctor, if there was a kind of "helper" to get me going.
he prescribed reductil (it's called meridia in the US, but any sibutramine derivativ will do). personally, I've never experience anything more powerful, in any sense. it kept me focused on my training regime, I was never hungry or had any cravings, it even got me into seafood and fruits again. junk food just tasted awful for me during that 4 months period and I drank water like never before. I was more energetic and lasted longer while doing cardio.
reductil helped me lose my first 30kg in 4 short months. I know, this is highly accelerated and I need to mention, this pill wont do you no good if you're not using the time you're on it to change your ways of life so you'll stick to the changes once off reductil. otherwise it's coming right back. well, naturally.
also, it messes with your brain's chemistry to achieve all the above and it doesnt always work as successful for everyone. but it's a powerful drug and even though I didnt have any negative sidefx, friends of mine did. some minor, some a bit more obvious.
nevertheless, it was the perfect kick-start helper for me.
just thought I'd share.

You are talking about Xenical..that was the stuff that blocks the fat from being absorbed and it goes, "Right through you.." yuck. I took that when I was 18....I know, I know.
Now, a smaller dosage of Xenical is being sold as Alli...

I am trying a new product called Ximo, an ephedra mango flavored drink. It really stops my appetite and is perfect for my workouts! No one knows about it yet.
It tastes so good it hard not to drink more than the 2oz 1-2x daily of the 16oz bottle! I need to lose 10lbs and want my 6 pack back! I think it's related to sugar is what I'm reading these days. I wonder how a person can stop eating sugar products so late? If I take the drink late, it may keep me up...
