I've gained a lot of weight during the past year. My self esteem is laying down in the floor. During the past two weeks I've been so depressed that I dont want to even go out not even to do groceries. My goal is to loose 30-35 pounds but I have no idea how to :( I already have a diet plan, but now I need an exercise plan which I do not have or know how to do. No clothes fit, and hate the white t-shirts makes me look like a ton of pounds heavier.  I'm 19 and married and hubby says he loves me no matter how I look but I don't feel comfortable with my body. I need help !!! desperately. Monday will be my first day hope I can accomplish my goal within 4-5 weeks or at least some of it. Thank you all for all the support you offer in this site, it's very persuading and helpful.

I totally understand where you are at.  I too have about 30 pounds to lose and know little about how to do it.  I started to take long walks during my lunch break and have worked up to about an hour.  I have lost about 8 pounds so far so am happy.  While I wish it happened faster and/or was easier, at least I am moving in the right direction.  My suggestion is to start walking or get an exercise bike and put it in front of the TV.  Taking walks with friends helps to get me to do it too.

I've been working out since monday and it's great and I'm actually having fun and making fun of myself because I only can do a couple of what the girl's does lol but I'll get there somehow. I went to walmart and bought a bike today and I went to the park and rode it, it was FUN I went this time with my little sister and we had lots of fun, although I will have to go the rest of the week along because we live  1 hr apart from each other :crying: but at least I'm getting the exercise. I'm also on a diet plan and exercise plan also so that helps more :) I havent weighted myself in the last days, but I think in 1-2 weeks I'll see a little difference. Thanks for the reply

I don't think you can lose 30 pounds in 4 to 5 weeks.  That is not realistic.  I lost about 50 in 6 months or so years ago by exercising and only eating around 1000 calories a day.  (except for 1 day of eating out on the weekends).  It worked.  Good luck to you!

good for you for getting yourself a bike and giving it a go around! :) as for the 30-40 pds in 4-5weeks, i have to agree with dani, its very hard to do without hurting yourself. I began my weight loss last thanksgiving at 196. Today I am around 160. Its almost been a year, and I have worked pretty hard at changing my intake to healthier items, exercising alot more and tracking my calories. I take my multi vitamins and I have two health conditions that make it a little harder for me to process sugar in my body, so that may or may not make it easier for me to lose. *i am also a newleywed, 35 yrs old with a 4 yr old daughter and hubby is thin as a rail and loves to eat all the things i should avoid, so i am challenged financially by having to decide when to get the good things for me, or to feed the provider and child in our home...*

you are on the right path, you ahve a loving hubby who will be by your side. You have an exercise tool, your bike. You just need to find the right diet, or begin to count your calories. Use the tools on this site to help you guage your daily needs calories wise, and try to stay away from the sweets, carbs etc. Fruit, Nuts, Cheese, Meats all good for you!

Depending on your weight now, you may see a change alone in the fact that you are working out. Sometimes just getting started with exercise will boost a loss for you until your eating habits get to a point that you are feeling good.

Good luck!

Same here, after the holidays I gained weight, funny thing is that my plans are working! How did I do it. Let me share it with you. I have a facebook account, I reconnect with all my friends who look a lil bigger than me but I know they're doing something like exercising to remedy their weight gain issues.

I started hanging out with them and after office hours, instead of hitting the pub, we go to the gym and have some few rounds of cardio and on weekends we bike. - The bottom line is, start hanging out with your big friends so no one will notice that you gained weight! - It's all having a positive attitude and it's a good thing you recognized it by having a diet plan. What I can share with you is start walking (for short distances errands) it will save you gas too! - If you have a regular house cleaners and you have time, you can cut they're schedules - do the cleaning your self. It saves you time, money, and you get a good cardio activity. There are a lot of ways to exercise without actually hitting the gym.

Good luck on your diet and Stay beautiful!

Good advice from everyone.  I would concentrate more on the exercising, bike riding etc.  As far as the diet, I wouldn't get to crazy with it at first.  Try cutting down on the size of portions your used to eating, drink lots of water, and try substituting healthier things in place of not to healthy things, and keep applying that more week by week.      For me when I tried to diet and cut things off cold turkey I fell off the wagon because I couldn't stay away from the junk food I cut out completely to fast.  Good luck on whatever you decide to do,   Keep thinking positive, See yourself loosing the weight, and keep that picture in your head

Get your nutritio nunde rcontrol, low carb, go to gym 3x week  and you will loose. The goal of loosing weight is loosing fat not muscles, to accomplish this you need to slowdown fat loss a bit. 1-2 punds per week is acceptable.

I've been dealing with depression since I was young and now that I've added on a large amount of pounds, the whole idea of "Oh my gosh... I'm fat" has not been helping. But one thing that research has shown is that exercising (any kind) will help keep depression away--- so it makes a lot of sense that you're feeling a lot better than before. KEEP exercising--- even if you totally do not feel like doing it.

As for knowing you have a certain amount to lose, take it one pound at a time. Keep yourself focused in knowing that all that matters is that you care a lot about yourself and you want a healthy body. Break the amount you want to lose into smaller goals. Then focus your weekly goals on eating better, doing something good for yourself or your community, and exercising. So while you may want to lose 5 lbs that first week, you need to decide how you're going to take care of your body first:
1. Drink more water (set an amount and stick to it)
2. Donate some time at an animal shelter or donate some food to the homeless. (Doing good for others helps us feel good too)
3. Instead of my usual lunch, I'm going to switch to eating a fruit salad that I make at home. (Taking the time to make your food from scratch makes you appreciate it more)

Small goals will really help you end up meeting your end goal. Plus it helps you establish healthy habits for your body along the way.
