Good morning guys.
Bert, you gotta stop sending us those pictures of yourself....now where did you get that Santa suit?
Anne, sounds like you're having a wonderful time with your family. We miss you but I'm glad you are enjoying the summer so much.
I was good yesterday, I stayed on my eating plan...the grilled salmon on the ceasar salad was very good and I even had cake when we got back to the house. all in all I had 1500 calories, alittle more than I like but consdering the challenge I am happy. No exercise though . On my PT days it is really hard to find time for a work out too, at least I get some exercise in PT but it really isn't a lot.
Have a great day.

Hey gals,
Fran, these are my goal pics. Yeah right! I crack myself up!!!
Great going on the eats. Just get some exercise in today if possible. A 15-20 minute brisk walk would be great and maybe a few pushups. Shouldn't take long at all.
Finished working on shoulders and arms last night and still eating clean. I have yoga tonight and dinner will be sauted salmon, Mexican bean salad and sweet potato.
We have mom's 85th celebration on Sunday so I'll have a real challenge there. Maybe a glass or two of wine and a bite of cake but I intend to eat cleanly through out the day. I'll be thinking of you two holding firm in support of me so that will help. I really want this 3rd round of the X to bring results.
Have a great day!

Hi, Spice Buddies,
Wow, it seems like forever! I'm glad you had a good time on vacation, Fran, and only 1.5 lbs - that is fantastic!
Our relatives are still here but we need to get them to the airport later this am. I have not weighed myself. We have not been eating too, too much but more than usual. Plus I feel it. So I just need to get back on. Especially since we are leaving on vacation on the 25th of this month. Well, actually it is an extended family visit!
We have been doing alot of fun things and had a good visit. I'll get back with you later!

Hi guys, everyone back today? Boy as a group we have been having a great summer don't you think?
I went to an all day concert on Saturday and food wise I didn't do too bad...not great but okay I think. Did you know that if you pour a Mike's hard lemonaid into a frozen lemonaid it is really good? It was 90 degrees out and it was an outside concert, my Mike's just wasn't cold enough so I came up with this idea and it really worked well. I had a whole section of people doing it.
Well I was suppose to start back to my exercise classes today but I forgot I have an MRI scheduled and that is going ot take a good chuck of my day so I guess I will have to wait until tomorrow....if I don't sound too sad about that it's becuase I'm not .
So what's everyone up to this week? No plans for me...except maybe throw the rest of that birthday cake out before I"m tempted.
Have a great day.

Mornin' gals,
Fran, you probably told us but what's the MRI for? I hope everything is ok. It's not just some cockamamey plan to get out of exercising, is it?
Cool idea regarding the Mike's. (no pun intended). I was good over the weekend until yesterday at mom's party. The main course was fine, brown rice, grilled veggies and beef kabobs. I had 3 glasses of wine though and a big honkin' piece of Ho-Ho cake. Strangely enough, and I think it's because I'm not used to that stuff, I didn't sleep well and feel like crapola today. I was supposed to do my ab work this morning but passed. I'll have to do it tonight with my regular workout. I did hit the legs and back workout Friday night (half anyway. I didn't feel well Friday night) and did a big butt kickin' cardio workout from the Insanity program. I had to put another T-shirt on the floor in front of me to catch the sweat and keep it off the rug. Mary Ellen said that it soaked through and I need a towel. GGGRRRRRR!!!!! Insanity!!!! X Me!! X Me!!!!
Our semester started Saturday so this week is gonna be a bear. I'm already looking forward to Friday.
Have a good one!!

.I don't think I mentioned the MRI becuase it all sounds silly to me. When I had the back problem the doctor had an xray done on my back which as I already knew has some arthiritis in it. Anyway it also showed my pelvis there was some kind of thing that showed up, she thinks it might be an old fx I never knew I had but she just wants to be sure it's nothing more. The way I ran around as a kid I probably had lots of fractures I never knew about...when you;re 10 you don't have time for foolishness like that.
Are you back to work on Fridays now?

Good morning, Spice Pals,
It was fun to get up and see your posts this am - seems like it has been a long time!
I am also wondering what the MRI is for, Fran. I am guessing your back?
Bert, the visual of your sweat soaking the rug is not really a great one but did give me an idea for a business (since I am out of work, you know). How about an exercise diaper? I can just see all those ripped guys at the health club clamoring to get them.
We were supposed to go to LA today to look at some stone for the floor. Long story but we decided not to go. The stone was less expensive there but we would have to take delivery all at once. So we will probably buy it here from a distributor who will hold some of it for us. I really hate paying more for things - makes me feel stupid. But I really don't know where we would put the stuff.
Ray's daughter and son-in-law are coming here on Wed just for a couple nights. They recently moved back to Colorado from Wisconsin and we have not seen them since they arrived. So I may be out of commission again later this week depending on what we do.
Hey, Fran, how was your birthday? Wasn't Bert a super-sweetie to call us? (By the way, Bert, I have not seen any response to Fran's question about when your b-day is. It may be in our posts somewhere but I don't have time to read 5000 entries or whatever it is. So go easy on us!). I figured no one was going to make me a cake so I bought ingredients to make an ice cream cake. When I started to do it, Ray realized I was making my own cake and said I couldn't do that so he took over. So I guess it was a good thing I did the ice cream thing because it was easy for him. Oreo cookie crust, mint chip ice cream, hot fudge on top, in the freezer. Then when you take it out, top it with a little whip cream and macadamia nuts. I haven't had one in a long time and it was really good. Plus, with our company, it isn't big enough to last long! What was your cake, Fran? Did you do anything special on your day?
Have a great day, guys!

Anne,
Now really; aren't I worth going through 5,000 posts??? You cut me to the quick! My B-day isn't for a while so you both have time to save up for a really cool and expensive gift. December 10th.
You know, that ice cream cake sounds pretty easy to make. I'm wondering how it would be with graham crackers, butter pecan ice cream and caramel sauce. Mmmmmm???? May have to try that one sometime.
Glad you liked the Man Ho-Ho-Ho!

Anne, it's great to see you back with us. Your birthday cake sounds delicious, I might have to try that next year. Ray was good to make your cake, sometimes Frank forgets to CALL the bakery, now how hard is that? He was lucky this year, I opted for a big dish of Coldstone Creamery ice cream but then a few days later my sister in law and I share a cake because she also has an August birthday and we've done that for years so all in all I got to have my cake and I ate it too .
I think you're about 1.000 years too late on the exercise diaper...the Japanese got there first...sumo wrestlers have been wearing them for centuries and why is just to disgusting to think about.
As for you stone, don't think about it as paying more for the same product, think of as it is...you are paying more for a service, this more expensive guy will store it for you so it makes sense he might charge a little more. Always gotta look at the big picture.
Have a great day.

Paying for service is a good way to think about it. Us do-it-yourselfers don't usually think in those terms since we don't know what service is! Still, $3K for service is killing me!

Good morning guys. Gotta tell you, I went off on one of those eating binges yesterday that only fellow weight strugglers can understand. It started innocently enough...a Zone bar, 180 calories and lots of protein. Then came the chocolate cake, just a slice mind you...followed by another slice. Then it was supper time, since I wasn't going to admit I had eaten candy and cake and wasn't really that hungry I ate supper too. so if I had quite then...not great but recoverable but....that #%@&! chocolate cake just kept calling me so back for another slice and what the heck may as well put some of that ice cream on it....you know the one that's just sitting in the freezer waiting. So I polish off another slice of cake (and now ice cream) but I have eaten so many sweets I am dying for something salty...a pickle might not be a bad choice but nooooo, I have to grab a bag of pretzel slims, a serving (23) is only a hundred calories,,,,but a half a bag ! So there went a day that started out well really go down hill. Anyway, the rest of the cake is now in the trash and not only in the trash but smashed up to avoid any temptations .
So how goes it with you guys, Anne, with having so much company is it a challenge? I know whenever we have company I over do it on the food that we have around so when they leave it's still here tempting me but of course that's me and as you can see from my litany above I have no will power
Have a good day Spicettes and be strong.

Fran, I feel your pain. Chocolate cake is like crack! You know, sometimes a binge like that, once in a blue moon, isn't all that bad. First, it gets it out of your system. It's like scratching an itch that's been driving you crazy. Second, it can trick your body into thinking it's getting a bunch of calories it would get on a normal basis. It can help to jump start your metabolism when you get right back on the horse. The bad thing is the sugar. Not so much for sugar's sake but because our bodies start to crave it more and more. That's the crack part. Don't worry about it. Just hit the exercise hard today to compensate for some of it and it shouldn't be an issue.
I am a tad concerned though about the pickles and ice cream thing however. Are you with child???? There, that woke you up!!!
Anne, you must love company and must be a fantastic hostess. Mary Ellen and I are going to sit at the computer this weekend to see how we can put a trip together out to see you guys next summer. We'll only stay about two weeks. We're still looking at driving to Sedona and spending a day or two at a spa and then just a regular motel. It all depends on the $$$. We'll do some initial planning this weekend to get an idea of general cost and see what we have to do to make it happen.
Did my chest and back work last night but couldn't do the abs. I did that this morning and will hit Plyometrics tonight!
Have a great day, spicy ones.
I loves 'ya!

Hi, Spices,
Oh, Fran, I'll have to give you some lessons on how to eat cake without consuming any calories. It's called shaving; if the slice is thin enough, it does not count. And if you are really good, you can slice it on a slight angle so that you get more frosting.
Well, I know what you mean. I am dealing with potato chips. My sister-in-law told me before they came that they ate alot of junk food so I bought chips. Then they really didn't eat much at all. So you know what that means - leftovers! Curse of the diet afflicted!
We are getting more company today - I think I already told you that - so I need to get my butt in gear cleaning and so forth. Ray is downstairs installing lights in one of the bedrooms. By the time you get here, Bert, that room may actually be finished!
I have always done quite a bit of entertaining. Not so much big parties but house guests and small dinner parties. I think small groups are much easier for talking to people. When I don't ask people over, I start to feel guilty which is ridiculous. For example, we got back from the Grand Canyon 6 weeks ago and now I am feeling self-initiated pressure to ask people over, like I should have done it sooner. So this weekend, I made some calls to people and we will be getting together in Sept after we get back from vacation. I am an initiator, I guess. It never occurs to me that someone else could do the asking. Oh well.
I don't know if I'll be on for the next couple of days - depends what we do. If not, have a good middle of the week and I'll talk to you soon!

Good morning.
Anne, not to worry about giving others the chance to ask people over, as one on the other side believe me we are glad. Frank and I are socially challenged and I never ask people over, to the point that I do feel guilty about it but I know coming to my house is really boring, believe me we are not great conversationalist so I just avoid it entirely. I have tried it a few times and it so so stressful I really can not deal with it. I do know I should reciprocate on invites but it just isn't going to happen so having friends who love to have people over and don't mind that I don't ask them is so much easier on me I just go with that. Anyway, it's great there are people like you in the world to help those like me out .
Have a great day.

Morning ladies,
Fran, you don't seem anti-social. I'll bet you could entertain us very easily. Anne, we have to plan on a trip to Massachusetts and see if we can drive Fran nuts. Of course we'll have to cook.
Hit my Plyometric workout last night and was soaking wet after. Hurts so good! Working on shoulders, triceps and biceps tonight. I think I'm going to step up the weight for my bicep curls. Last week when I did them I didn't have any pain there for the entire week. Time to push it!!!
Anne, you must have mentioned it but where are you going on vacation? I love the fact that you take so many and travel. It's good for the soul. I'm ready to get out of town again myself. Sept 6th we head to Hilton Head Island for 3 nights. Should be great if we don't get any hurricanes.
Lots of meetings today so I'll sign off. I'll check in later.
Have a great day, gals!

Mornin' Spices,
I'm with you, Bert. We need to drop in on Fran. She won't need to do any talking but I also find it hard to believe that you are not a conversationalist, Fran.
The term "vacation" is stretching it a bit when you talk about visiting family. Some of it will be pretty fun, though. We are starting out in Ohio to visit Ray's mother and sister. Then we go to Chicago; my sister and brother in law will meet us there and we head to Madison, WI to visit our niece. Then we go to the UP of Michigan where one of my other sisters has a house on Lake Superior. That was the real purpose of the trip - to get together with my sisters. From there, we will spend three days at a family reunion in northern Michigan (lower peninsula). On Labor Day, we are going to do the Mackinac Bridge walk. And then finally to Detroit to visit my parents. All in all, 17 days and you can bet we will be dying to get back! Now I'll bet you're sorry you asked!
Hurt so good, come on, Baby, make it hurt so good... Is that the song that you had in mind, Bert?
I gotta run to make breakfast, a picnic and get a few things ready for dinner. Hey, maybe I can just say I don't cook. Do you think they'd buy it after 20 years? My son-in-law keeps it coming by complimenting on my cooking every chance he gets. I guess that is a good strategy on his part!
Have a wonderful day

Bert, I can not believe how much you have gotten into the exercise expecially over the past year. Sure wish that bug would bite me .
Not much going on, other than too much work. Anne is off having a great time and you and me...we're stuck working , doesn't seem fair does it?

Blew off yoga last night in favor of X Stretch. Kinda yoga light. Ab ripper this morning and legs and back tonight. Insanity Plyometric Cardio Circuit tomorrow. OH MAMA!!!
No specific plans for the weekend which suits me fine. I plan to take it easy, if at all possible, on Sunday. No workout!

Good morning spice buds.
Anne, you are living the life....jeeping, hiking, trips to visit family and friends. Yup, I'm jealous . Those pictures you sent are fantastic, I can not believe the views you have, when it is done you are never going to want to leave. I can not believe you and Ray are basically doing this all yourselves. Frank and I are stumped by a clogged drain . It is great I know you can do so much more when you have the talent, it is going to be one beautiful home.
Well, I have been dogging it on the exercise, I am going to try and make more of an effort this week. Of course we have committed to training our dogs to do a good heel, they walk on leash OK but I want better so that is taking a lot of our time, 3 dogs 3 10 minute sessions a day...takes a good chunk of time. but it's always been a goal of mine. I am always impressed with anyone who can get their dogs to heel correctly. Mine will walk beside me even without a leash but I want them right by my leg in perfect step with me....fussy aren't I?
Have a great start to the week. BTW have you noticed how many views we have....over 60,000....I had no idea we were that interesting.

Hello my lovely spices!
I hope you had a great weekend.
Anne, I know I sent a private comment on your place but dang, girl, what a place. The views are incredible. You'd better really like company because you're going to get it.
Fran, I had a black lab that would walk on water for me. The dog was incredibly smart and was my hunting buddy and constant companion. The dogs I have now are good dogs but they can't hold a candle to my Pepper. She was a queen! Every dog is different.
Anne, have a great and safe vacation and stay in touch once in a while. Fran and I will keep the posting going. And Fran, yes, we are interesting. We are the poster children for what CPH diet buddy threads are supposed to be. It's not just about losing weight but about how we live day to day and support each other. This is why we've become such good friends.
Speaking of weight, I took off Friday night and rested. Hit legs and back on Saturday and Insanity Plyometric Cardio Circuit on Sunday. My legs and butt are killing me! Oh Yeah!!! Ab Ripper this morning and chest and back tonight!
There, I kept to the heart of the threads.
Have a great day, my pals!

Hi, Spice Babes,
I'm glad you liked the photos - you would not believe how much trouble I had putting those together yesterday! Then after I did it, I realized that I should have included some photos of the outside, of the studio and of the views. But I was too embarrassed to send it out to the world again. Oh well.
Fran, I think it is great that you are training your dogs. I really do appreciate well trained animals. They will probably do anything to please you since you are so nice to them!
I will be thinking of you every day when I am gone! I weigh 6 more lbs than I did last year so I don't feel great. You know that feeling I'm talking about. When I lose weight I feel on top of the world; when I have failed, I feel down. I am mad at myself for not getting it off before now. But the only thing I can do is not make it worse so that is what I will focus on.
We are staying at a hotel our first five nights. Ray's mom lives in a very tiny apt and it is not a good thing to stay there. We were going to stay with his sister but she called about a week ago and said they did not have room since their son is now living with them. So now we are at a hotel. I wish we did not have to spend the money but it will be nice to have a little privacy too. Anyway, I will try to check in from there if they have wired internet service. Alot of places only have wireless anymore and unfortunately my wireless is not working. I also need a new computer but I have been putting it off since I'm not working.
You two be good while I'm gone!

| Anne, we sure do know that feeling but don't let it ruin your trip. Watch when you can do so without feeling like you're giving up too much. When you come back you can deal with it. I've been struggling too. Maybe you and I can set a goal to try and loose a certain amount by Christmas or some such thing. We can talk later. Have a great trip.

Anne,
I know how you feel about the 6 lbs. Don't beat yourself up and enjoy your vacation. Let's face it; you're going to be subject, in many cases, to what others are preparing for you and you'll have to eat it. They'll be a lot of celebratory meals as well and that's generally the real good stuff. Eat it all and have fun. When you get back home, get right back on the horse and eat right and exercise. This is the lifestyle change.
Another thing you can do while away is eat mini meals during the day so you're not too hungry when you sit down to eat the big meals.
Have fun and don't worry!!

Hey Bert, looks like it's you and me again Spice Bud. If I can make it another 4 years I will be living the life Anne is living now....I can't wait. For now living vicariously though Anne is better than nothing .
Well, it's official, I finished the weight loss challenge heavier than when I started in July. . I checked back over this year and basically I am the same weight I was in January which means the weight I gained after Christmas is still here . I really need to kick it into gear. I have been up and down pretty much all year gain a few, loose a few but I need to get that last 10 pounds off of me...and then of course keep it off . I know what I need to do, doing it is the hard part. I did go to the gym yesterday but one day does not a habit make. I need to string a couple of good weeks together and then manage not to get injured in some stupid way. I wish I could love exercise the way you love your program. I know you are seeing great results and that helps but you also must have that exercise gene....maybe it was just latent for many years .
All of my whining aside I am so glad to have this support, believe me that I am the same weight I was in January is actually not a terrible thing, not a great thing for sure but without you and Anne I am pretty confident it would be much, much worse.
Have a Spicey day.

Hey Fran,
The best thing you said was that you're the same weight since January. That means you haven't gained in 8 months! Build on that.
The other thing is that you have been exercising. I know you haven't hit the weights much but you've been pretty faithful and any kind of weight bearing exercise will develop muscle. That weighs more than fat so don't be too hard on yourself. I'm 10 lbs heavier than I was when I hit the 100 lbs loss figure a year ago yet my clothes fit so much better and I'm really beginning to see definition in my shoulders, arms, thighs and calfs. The mid section is the hardest and takes the longest. I'm gonna do it. It's just a matter of time.
Build on those things that you know work. You're eating well, eat several times a day to keep the metabolism going, continue to keep a diary of what you eat. I don't know if I sent you the site for My Fitness Pal or not but I'll send it via email. It's a great way to track your calories daily. Exercise at least 3 times a week; 4 would be better. Have at least two days of cardio and one of weight training. Look for exercise bands if you don't have weights. They're less expensive, come in different tensions and work very well. Easy to store too.
You and Anne have done a great job of losing and keeping weight off. I know I sound like a broken record but it's a lifestyle change and that means for life!
I know what you mean about the retired life. I'll be 62 in four years and I could retire but our savings took a real shot and I'm afraid I'll have to stick it out until 65. That's 7 years from December and it will go fast. As long as I'm healthy I should be able to make it. I just hope I don't get super bored with my work.
Have a great day, Franny Spice, and stay strong and stay POSITIVE!!!
Love and kisses,
Bert

Bert, thanks for the support as always, you are good at finding that silver lining .
Actually I am posting a little late today because I got my butt to the gym for a 5:45 am class. I also took a class yesterday...Power Hour, now that one kicks my a$$ every time but it is probably my favorite.
As far as retirement goes I think I can still go at 62 but we are meeting with our financial planner in a few weeks...we'll see what he has to say...he's the boss. We lucked out, and that's all it was was luck, when I lost my job in 2006 I took my 401K out and my financial planner reinvested it, at the time he felt the market was headed for a crash so he put into safer stuff. Not that we didn't loose, of course we did but not as badly hit as some. Frank's 403B or whatever it is has always been somewhat conservative so we'll see. I don't think I can make it to 65, I actually like my job but there is just so much I want to do.
Have a great day Spice Bud.

Hi Fran,
Good for you getting to the gym early. Now it's behind you.
I did my Plyometric workout last night and was soaking wet after. Great workout. I hit ab ripper this morning at 4:45. Man, it's getting tougher and tougher to get up that early. I was sleeping really well.
I'll get home tonight and work on shoulders, biceps and triceps and then I'm meeting a couple of guys from my men's group for dinner. I'll have to hit it extra hard as I plan on having a Guinnes or two.
Have a great day and dream of retirement.

Ab rippers sounds darn painful to me, but you go Bert. I know you love it .
No early class at the gym today, so I will try and get one in a little later. I am lucky the gym is so close and my schedule is flexible enough that I can usually fit something in, today it will be what is called 15/15/15 it's 15 minutes of floor exercises (sit ups, push ups etc) 15 minutes cardio and 15 minutes with weights. It's a good mix of stuff.
Well, I gotta run, I'm not sure if you're back to working on Fridays but if not have a great weekend, otherwise I will "talk" to you tomorrow.

Hi Fran,
I can't say that I love it but if I don't do it I'll go right back to my old habits and that's unacceptable. And you're right; ab ripper is painful.
The 15/15/15 routine sounds good. I gather it works all of your body. Is it intense? That makes it really good.
I worked on shoulders, biceps and triceps last night and then went to dinner with a couple of buddies, had 3 Guinnesses, greasy onion rings and corned beef, cabbage and mashed potatos. I'm not used to eating this way and I feel sluggish this morning. I really enjoyed it at the time though.
I'm back on Fridays so I'll "talk" with you tomorrow too.

Hi Bert, I have an early meeting so I gotta make this short but I wanted to stop by and say "HI".
I made it to an early step class so I feel good about that but, I actaully forgot to go to class yesterday. I swear I didn't even think about it until I was in bed last night and I thought, what did I do for exercise and I realized the answer was ...nothing . It must be an age thing.
Have a great weekend. We're expecting the tail end of Danny so there won't be a lot of out door stuff. It's too bad becuase we are going to have lots of visitors for Ted Kennedy's funeral.

Hi Fran,
Consider that missed day your rest day. One day a week of rest is needed to repair tissue.
We're getting rain today too but not from Danny. I hope it's not too bad for the mourners. I was never a big fan of Kennedy but I know he meant a lot to the folks in Mass.
I did an hour of X Stretch last night and will work on legs and back tonight. Eating cleanly too but the weekend looms!
Have a great weekend and be safe.

Good morning buds. Hope everyone's weekend went well.
You may not know this but apparantly there is a law that if hersey bars are on sale four for $5.00 you have to buy all 4....and eat them in a singel weekend . I am sure that is a law becuase otherwise no one in thier right mind would do that right? Now what in heavens name made me think I could have those in the house?
Anyway, I realized it is only 6 weeks until I go to Mexico (assuming the swine flu is not rappant there) so here is my plan....I want to loose 8 pounds in 6 weeks. I know that is pretty ambitious but that's my goal and if I keep my calories under 1300 and get my a$$ to the gym at least 5 days a week I can do it. I really need to go back to the real strict days, it is the only way I am going to get my eating under control again. I've just been slipping too much and it is showing on the scale and even in my cloths so I am going to really work on it. I have 3 weekends of either having my nephews, going to a wedding and then a weekend at the cape with my brother so it should be an interesting challenge but I know what I need to do. So as they say "just do it".
Anne, how was your visit with your family? Are you back for a while now? When are you putting in that stone....bet that will be some exercise.
Bert, how did the weekend go...I know you mentioned it might be a challenge?

Morning gals,
Fran, regarding the Hershey bars, it sounds like a law only Mass. would pass. Kinda like appointing senators by a governor, switching to an election and then switching back to a gubernatorial appt. again.
I didn't know you were going to Mexico or at least I don't remember us talking about it. Where are you going? You can certainly lose 8 lbs in six weeks if you put your mind to it and let nothing stand in your way. Just remember to eat but eat the right things. Don't fall prey to the myth that not eating will result in lost weight for the short term. Your body will go into survival mode as it will think it's getting starved and hold on to any fat deposits you have. Eat the right things and make sure you have sufficient calories to support the exercise you'll be doing for the next several weeks.
I had a pretty good weekend exercise wise and it's a good thing. We went out Friday night for dinner and I had a couple of glasses of wine. Dinner was a big salad with grilled scallops and shrimp so that was good. Saturday morning I did my Insanity workout. Dang that puts me into a flop sweat! Sunday I ran 6 miles and I actually shaved a little time off. I averaged 11.5 minute miles. Pretty happy with that! That's 30 seconds off my regular mile time of 12 min/mile. Sunday we went out to lunch and I had a Cob Salad with the usual stuff but this one had crab, scallops and shrimp. Ate a big salad with chicken last night, 3 glasses of wine and broke down and ate some cookies that really weren't very good. Other than that I ate well and I'm guessing the workouts really helped burn calories.
Stay tough, Fran, and don't use the scale as your only measure. Look at how your clothes fit and how you look naked (I just thought I'd throw that in )
Anne, hope you and Ray are having a blast on your travels. Be safe.
Have a good day, spicy ones.
Bert

Thanks for the advise Bert. I will be sure to eat enough becuase I know you are right, eat too little and you won't loose.
Hey, in MA we have laws for everything and if we don't like them we change them....that's why they call us "liberal", we liberally interpert them. . Seriously thought I don't think the governor appointing the intrim senator stands much of a chance although I have no problem with it with the caveat that the person selected must be of the same party as the person who vacated the seat. That was why it got changed to begin with...we had string of republican governors but everyone else were democrats and the fear was the way the law was written they could have appointed anyone...so why not just change that part of it....who knows, greater minds than mine come up with these ideas. . I know you are not a Kennedy fan but Massachusetts will really miss him, he did a lot for a lot of people here. Can't say his personal life was stellar that's for sure but his political life was something to be proud of.
So back to food....the salad you had sounds pretty good. I do which I liked salad more, that is one of the problems in the summer. I can eat them but I never WANT them, in the winter I love soups and as long as they are water based they are a great calorie saver. This week though, want them or not I will get a few salads in.
Boy, less than a 12 minute mile, you are crazy! Good for you, can you imagine doing that 3 years ago?

Don't sell yourself short. I'll bet you have a heck of a lot more common sense than most of our politicians. They really pi$$ me off!
Funny you should mention doing the running 3 years ago. I said the same thing to Mary Ellen when I finished the run. If someone had told me that in 2006 I would have said "Yeah, but I could only do it once and then you'd have to bury me."
Have a good day, Franny girl!!

Hey Bert, I think it's still just you and me but Anne, hey to you to if you're back.
I had a good day yesterday....now all I need is about another 20 . I did have a really good supper and of course it was an easy one. We had shrimp, they were the large ones, I just put them on a skewer with sliced peppers (I nuked the peppers first) and then sprinkled Old Bay seasoning on them and cooked them on the grill, Frank and my son Ted loved them. I also had grilled zucchini but I put Mrs. Dash on them and it wasn't really the flavor I was looking for so next time I'll try something else. I should add we also had corn on the cob...to which I did nothing . I do love this time of year, we have a farm stand very close and the veggies are sooooo good.
Well for exercise it is power hour today....the one where the leaders goal is to kill all of her students .
Have a great day buddy.

Hey Fran,
Mmmm! Grilled shrimp with Old Bay!!!! We had wild salmon last night. I heat up a cast iron skillet and put a little olive oil in it. I sprinkle some salt, pepper, Old Bay, a little garlic powder and dried basil on the fish. When the pan is hot I place the filet in, skin side down. I cook this for 4 min. Meanwhile, the oven is heating to 400 deg. After the 4 minutes are up, I flip the salmon and put the pan in the oven for 8 min. I take the pan out, remove the skin from the fish and place in on my plate. Easy and delicious. You can squeeze some lemon on it and/or a little peach salsa. Really good! We also had peas and we split a sweet potato.
I did my yoga last night and will work on my core tonight with several types of exercises. Sounds like your power hour will be tough. Surprise your instructor and set the pace for her/him and make her sweat! Fight back and fight dirty!
Have a great day, Fran, and Anne, if you're out there in cyberspace, we love you!

Good morning Bert. I am going to have to try Old Bay on salmon, for some reason I've never tried that one.
. Last night I went out with my friend for dinner to the Cheesecake Factory but I was really good. I had a salad w/ grilled chicken and since my friend was dying for dessert and I knew she wouldn't't order it if I didn't I order a piece of cheese cake but I asked for it in a to go container. I ate less than 1/4, maybe two or three bites at the most so I think that wasn't too bad either. I will say it was really good but those few bites satisfied me. I checked the calorie content and would you believe if I had eaten it it would have been 1054 calories, , that is almost my whole day. As it is I came in under my 1300 for the day.
I got myself to the 5:45 aerobics class so I am done for the day . It took a little pushing though because I am still a little sore from yesterdays workout. Oh well, no pain, no gain as they say....wait a minute isn't no gain exactly what I am looking for .
Have a good day Spice Bud and Anne, if you're out there we miss you.
