Hey Midge,

I've been sick as a dog.  Really bad cold and with my sinus problems, it's really a disaster.  I missed 3 days of work.

I feel better today but no where near 100%.  I have today and Sunday to recoup.  I have to get back to work Monday.  I haven't worked out in a week but I have been eating right so I'm not seeing any real damage.  I'll weigh in Monday and see what the results are from Christmas.

Whole foods is the way to go!!!!  Try uping your protein, lowering starchy carbs and hitting the cardio a bit harder.  This can kick the reduction inot high gear and jumpstart your loss.

Don't know where Lucy and Beck are.

Have a good weekend.

Bert

Hey Midge,

I'm back at work but struggling.  I may leave in a half hour or so.

Remember it's a lifetime thing so don't worry about the holidays.  Just get back on that horse and ride!!!:horse:  Also, consider this.  If you go out of town for the holidays you have to eat out ALL THE TIME!!!!  How tough will that be?

Just drop your calories this week and hit the exercise.  You'll do great!

Hi Bert - well, I'm still here and I've been healthy since about noon today.  So yeah me!

I'm on a Eat to Live lets-see-how-many-veggies-I-can-eat-in-one-day kick.   We'll see how long it lasts.

Glad to hear that you are doing well though.

Hi Bert.  Sorry I bailed!  I took a little break.  Good idea or ill-advised?  Who Knows.

Glad you are doing well!  I need your enthusiasm to kick my butt in gear.  I'm trying to go by how I feel instead of by a number - we'll see  how that pans out over the next couple of weeks.  If nothing else hopefully my pants will be looser!

Lucy, honey, where are you?

Hi gang, sorry for being MIA...so so much going on in my personal life.  As you know the economy has slowed and it has hit hard here as well.  I personally am trying to survive on very little income, 1/4th of what it was two months ago.  Very drastic.

My weight has maintained at 195, which I am comfortable with.  I am not exercising, I am not following any sort of routine, just as I said maintaining and not even trying.  Once life gets more balanced in other areas I will re-focus.  For now I am trying to adjust to the lifestlye changes my family is facing.

I have not read my messages, as I just looked up and noticed them, but will read them shortly.  Have much catching up to do, as I dont know anything that is going on with either of you two.  So forgive me.

much luv Lucy xo

Hey Lucy!!!  Good to hear from you girl!

I know the economy is a bear right now and I've been where you are also.  It's not fun but with God's help, you'll all get through it.  Trust in Him and GET BACK ON THE EXERCISE!!!!  It doesn't cost and it will relieve some stress.

Hang in there and stay in touch.

OK, roses, this is my last message.  I don't think you all are inclined to stay with it anymore.

I hope I'm wrong but I'll make this my last entry if I don't hear from you.

I hope you're all well.

Hi there if anyone is reading!  I am sorry for my extended absence.  I am still plugging along, and happy to say although I have not lost all that much since last posting I havent gained any either.  I am around 193, not exercising, and not a lot of effort going into what I eat.  It's just natural now not to over indulge, I have my moments when the hormones are on full altert, but other then that I am doing okay with the food.  Hubby is still on the hunt for work, 15,000 construction jobs were lost in our province alone.  Competition is tight.  Hoping for a change real soon.

Bert thanks for not giving up completely, Midge I know you are around as I checked your diary.  Yep snoopy I  be.

Oh geesh, my big excuse for not checking in?  My laptop died on me, and just got one a few days back...talk soon I hope

Hey Lucy,

Good to hear from you.  There's life on the thread yet!!!!

Take heart!  The fact that you haven't gained with all the job stress at home is terrific!!  Just take it one day at a time.  Maybe you and the hubby can work out together.  Plan your menus together, etc.  It helps to have someone to do it with.

Last week I finished my first round of P90X.  I don't know if you've seen the infomercials but it's an extreme fitness regimin and it kicked my a$$.  I took a week off and I start hitting it again today for another 90 days.  It's a terrific program of pushups, pull ups, chip ups, weight lifting and aerobics.  I haven't lost any more weight but my pants went down a size. :grin::grin:  Great program!

Stay tough, Lucy and stay on the thread.

Glad to see this thread is still here! Lots of life has happened, and in the process I gained back 50lbs. Took about 15 months to put it on. I was angry at myself for the rebound, but that was getting me no where fast. Accepted where I am, and taking baby steps to get back on track.

Will put up my stats and all that jazz this week, scared to to do it, but it will help keep me accountable.

Okay, Bert if you are reading this, P90x how did that work out for you? Seems like everyone is doing it now. Are you into crossfit? Another popular hardcore routine.

Well hey there, Lucy!  Great to hear from you.

Don't get discouraged about the 50 lbs.  After I lost the 100 lbs., life got tough and I gained back 33 of it.  I'm back on track and have lost 8 since 12/27.

I hurt my back badly Christmas of 2009 and spent the day in the hospital.  I tried to do some workouts but had to be very careful.  Long story short, a year has passed and it's as good as it's going to get.  I still have some pain and numbness in my left leg but so be it.  Time to get on it again.

I started the P90X program again on 12/27 and have been on it since.  I really like the program.  It's demanding but certainly doable and I modify things so I won't hurt my back again.  The P90X wasn't the cause of my back injury but I couldn't do it while recuperating.  Haven't done crossfit.

Hang in there, Lucy, and stay on the thread.

Howdy Bert  I just read all my posts in this thread, and I made it sound so easy breezy. Scares the bejeebers out of me now. Not sure if I am scared of failure or scared to try. I have maintained my good eating habits, but have added back many of the comfort foods. First to go is sweets.

I am so sorry Bert about your back. This may sound bad, but it helped me to know you too gained some back. I was checking out the P90x and the Insanity sets at walmart. I am not sure I would stick to it, but the results I have seen on youtube videos are amazing.

Also was going to maybe start with a 3 day cleanse, however, I have never done this and not sure if it is wise.

Will head to walmart tomorrow and pick up a new scale, and perhaps some protein powder for shakes.

Hey Lucy,

Let's face it, we always will slip and gain.  For me, it's a life time battle so the changes have to be part of my life style.  I know I'm going to have the battle for ever so I learn to deal with it from that perspective.

I've done a few of the Insanity workouts and they are tough.  I don't know that I'd recommend it right out of the gate.  You don't want to get discouraged.

I like P90X because it has a good nutritional program, several different exercises and it allows the participant to modify what they are doing.  You don't have to keep up with the folks on the DVD and Tony Horton says that over and over again.  "Do your best and forget the rest" is his motto.

Whatever you decide to do, exercise in the form of cardio and weight/strength training, as well as sound nutrition, have to all be taken into consideration.  Check out the Beach Body website and look at all the products they have.

I don't know anything about cleansings but if you eat veggies a lot and drink water,  you'll clean out and feel better.

Let me know what you think.

Well I am still trying to be brave enough to commit myself back to a healthy approach and moderate exercise. I dont know why I am scared, maybe scared is wrong. Anxiety towards it is huge. I keep searching my previous posts looking for anything that I can reconnect with my former self. I know that my previous weightloss was kick started by surgery and when I left the hospital after 4 days I was 17lbs lighter. I do have to go through another surgery, but I keep putting it off and certainly wouldnt book it just to lose weight:nono: I guess I am over thinking this, and making it complex, when I know what needs to be done. Because I did it once before.

Just had to get that off my chest. Sorry for being such a downer!

Bert thank you for still listening

Hey Lucy,

You're not a downer.  It's tough to turn that corner.  I think the hardest things for us in the situation we're in is that first, we have to start all over again.  This is very tough when we think of where we were, what we accomplished and we become down thinking that we threw all that work and effort away.  The idea of beginning again is daunting.

I think the solution to this is to remind ourselves that we have to make lifestyle changes and that's exactly what it implies; for a lifetime.  All through our future we'll make the right decisions and wrong decisions on so many aspects of our lifes.  This is how we grow and gain wisdom.  Don't beat yourself up for letting things go.  It's temporary.  The real lifestyle you want to live is eating right and exercising.  You can do this because you know you've done it before.

I also think the overall goal seems so far away and we're afraid to fail.  Failing is ok.  We've been taught that we have to win all the time but if we don't fail now and again, how do we get the strength and will to go on?  How do we learn to face and overcome challenges?

Like I said, we're going to have to get back on the wagon and do what we have to do for ourselves and perhaps, more importantly, for those we love and care about.  It's not just about us.

You can do this, Lucy.  Map out a plan for yourself on food, exercise and set small goals.  A pound or two a week is doable and just stay focused on any given day.  Don't consider the long term.  Time will go by quickly and the big goals will take care of themselves.

Lucy, I don't know if you're a religious person, if you're a Christian, Jew or whatever.  I say this because you should also pray for strength and guidance.  I'm a Christian and I know, without any doubt, that I could not have accomplished what I did or get back on the wagon as I am without God's strength.  Don't discount prayer.  It's an incredibly powerful thing.

Have a wonderful day and stay strong.
