I think I need a buddy. I have a weight loss diary, but I think a buddy would help.
I am:
18
going to college in the fall
5'4 and 138ish pounds
trying to get to 125
extremely addicted to pizza, chocolate, and diet mtn dew
It's not necessarily essential to me, though, that my potential buddy have these things in common with me.
I do need someone who is on at least every couple of days...please don't offer to be my buddy and then never come to this site again.
I need someone who won't nag me too much...just be there and encourage me to keep going. Someone who I know is reading everything I eat...that alone, I think, will be enough to make me feel guilty without you actually bashing my bad choices Although you can bash sometimes, if you feel it is truly necessary.
Newbies, old hacks...either way is fine with me.
So, don't I sound wonderful? For a limited time, I am willing to consider YOU as my weight loss buddy!! (Sarcasm and bad jokes no extra cost )

I want to get to atleast 110 pounds! I've been trying for months, but I've barely gotten anywhere.

Lol yay! Hopefully that will be only the first idea of many to come from our little group :)
I asked Peter to move this for us so hopefully it will be in the other forum tomorrow.
So, what's your plan for tomorrow?
I think I will:
have oatmeal for breakfast
Don't know what for lunch or supper..
And def. walk on my treadmill tomorrow afternoon

Tomorrow I'm planning to eat.....
Oatmeal for breakfast too, with some fruits or something to make it tasty lol.
I think I might have carrots, hummus, and pita for lunch. And a girl guide cookie!
More oatmeal stuff after school.. That'll be my "linner" (lunch/dinner)
And for dinner I'll probably have something my mom cooks!
Hopefully I'll get some exercise on my treadmill too! The hardest part is getting myself on there first!

Ok, I had my oatmeal for breakfast. What kind do you buy?
I could find anything for lunch...I need to go buy stuff. So, I ad a blueberry muffin, then I got home I made a hotdog and had a glass of chocolate milk. Right now I am baking cookies for our beta bake sale tomorrow. Then I have to send in a scholarship, work on my literary analysis, work on chemistry extra credit, and hopefully get in some time on the treadmill! Whew!!

Mmm, no treadmilling. I ate three cookies (!). Man, I just can't resist fresh baked cookies. Ok. Maybe I could...but why would you really want to?
Had a cheeseburger for supper, and diet caffeine free coke...
So...what exactly is hummus anyway?

Lol! I didn't get any treadmilling either!
I think I got this "President's Choice Quick Oats".. This is kinda random, but I find it amusing to watch the oatmeal 'move' when you heat it up. xD It's like from one of those shows where the students line up at the caferia, and they get gross looking food that moves. So I microwaved my quick oats, but I guess the bowl was too small cause the oatmeal started to crawl out. LOL.
Hummus is this mushy stuff, made out of chick peas. It makes a good dip for veggies and things in my opinion! It's healthy too! The kind I got was 70cal. for 2 tablespoons, but I heard there are even healthier ones.
I love cookies, but they're so hard to put down!!
Once I eat one... I have to have more.
I had a girl guide cookie today, I was so tempted to eat more!
I actually cut up that little cookie with a knife, so I could spread it out through the day. XD It made a lot of crumbs though..

Yeah...I've had five cookies today...and the day's not over yet.
Again, I have a lot to do tonight, so probably no treadmill. Maybe I can work in a half hour...
I get quaker oats instant oatmeal, flavored with maple and brown sugar..

Hmm, I want some recipes for healthy cookies, then I can eat some without feeling guilty. Or maybe I'll just experiment with oatmeal, and create a cookie like thing. :P
I probably won't go on the treadmill either, but I'm going to lift some 5 pound weights while I'm on the computer.
If I stop feeling so lazy, then I might go for a short jog.. maybe.. The treadmill is boring though. Now I wish I had an ipod or a tv infront of the treadmill! But it makes so much noise, so that'd be pointless.
Any ideas on how to make treadmilling not so.. boring?
I find oatmeal goes with so many things! Even gross sounding combinations....
Like oatmeal + tuna.
Or oatmeal+avocado+ soysauce
or oatmeal+ tofu+ soysauce
or all together. (I actually find it more tasty than oatmeal+raisons and stuff ).
It's actually not that bad! But that's just me, cause I eat rice alll the time with everything so I'm just using oatmeal as the replacement. :P

I think those are commonly known as granola bars
As far as treadmill...I have an MP3 player, and I can hear it pretty well. Also, depending on where your treadmill is located in your house, you can turn a radio, boom box, or television up nice and loud
I saw your post in your diary, about eating 1100 cals...just wondering...how many are you shooting for? Cause...I figured your RMR, and your RMR is in the 1400s...
I probably won't treadmill this afternoon...because I don't wanna have to shower before church. Tomorrow I won't be able to either, but it's because I'll be at work, which requires walking around a lot, and cleaning and everything. So I'll still burn a few cals :P

I'm shooting for anywhere in the range of 1100cal. - 1500cal. So if my RMR is around 1400, then I should try to eat less than that to lose weight? Or is that the least I should eat? The BMR and RMR thing always confused me. Though I consumed over 2000 calories today. I couldn't resist... My friend offered me my favourite kind of doughnut... buttermilk glazed... 270calories for one! She's so different from me, she's extremely skinny (I think atleast 5'5 and about 100 pounds). A size 0 is loose on her! She has a really fast matabolism, and she's naturally like that. So she could eat the same amount as me, and still be skinny as a stick! She's also so happy and hyper all the time, it makes me jealous! I'd be so tired and drained, and she'd be bouncing around full of energy!
I REALLY don't feel like exercising, but I've been putting it off so much, I think I'm actually going to get off my butt and jog on my treadmill for a couple minutes after this post.

Oh, I have aHARD time resisting doughnuts...aren't they delish?
Oh, I totally have friends like your friend. If you didn't love her so much, you'd hate her :P Or at least that's how I feel.
Yeah, you really shouldn't eat less than 1400ish...

-feels guilty-
I never went on the treadmill! I ended up eating some of my brother's early bday cake instead! But I did go for an hour and a half walk today, so I guess that makes up for it.
Should I eat 1400 calories to lose weight? I don't know how many calories my body usually burns.. hmm.
I'm going to experiment with oatmeal now!

I tried oatmeal with cinnamon, but I thought that tasted bad..
I actually kinda like it just warm and plain with milk!
Yeah, I wonder why all my favourite foods are so unhealthy! Why does fat taste so good.. or fatty foods? But if you think about it, it's pretty gross.. weird.
I'm thinking of getting Turbo Jam, since I find treadmilling really boring, but I wonder if it is as good as everyone says it is. It also sounds pretty extreme, so I don't want to injure myself while using it.
Today I went to a buffet and pigged out. Mmmm I had sooo many things, I thought I was going to explode. I feel guilty now, but at the moment I was like OMG FOOD. SCREW THE CALORIES! *CHOMP* *CHOMP* *CHOMP* Gah! I have to somehow make up for all the fattiness, but I don't want to use my treadmill. But I might have to.

BUFFETS are horrible. It's like, it's all you can eat, so I WILL EAT ALLLLLLLL THAT I CAN EAT!!!
I walked around my yard tonight, with my doggie...after eating four slices of pizza.
BUT I was 137.6 lbs this morning! So that was encouraging.
You?

Woo! Great job!
I don't think my weight has changed much recently, it's always going up and down so it's hard to tell. I wish I had one of those electrical weigh scales that tell your fat percentage and everything. Maybe I'll get one of those later... Do you think it's worth the money? It sounds pretty cool!
Buffets really are horrible! I can't control myself there.. That's what I need- more self control (since I fall into temptation so easily)! I mean, since you pay so you can eat all you can eat, it feels like I should eat all that I can eat (and more )!
I've been trying to avoid pizza, but I ate some this week too.
Why do they have to be so high in calories?!

Yeah, I think one of those would be a good investment. Or a pair of skinfold calipers. Sadly, I own neither :( We do have a good scale though.
How often do you weigh yourself? To see good results (well, good or bad, but I mean results where you can actually tell whats going on) you should weigh once a week. You should in the morning, before you eat breakfast, and either in no clothes or very lightweight clothes (I usually weigh in my pjs)
So, I wore my pedometer today!! Since I worked after school, I walked...drumroll please...over 17,000 steps!!!
However I ate a bunch of bad food. And no good food. Look at this:
three slices pizza
honey bun
pretzels
piece of chocolate cake
chicken burrito supreme
cheesy fiesta potatoes
diet mountain dew
diet sun drop
small juice box
Junk, junk, junk! So, I hope those 17 thou burned a ton of calories!!!
What do you have planned for the weekend?

Wow, that's A LOT of steps!! Good job!
Maybe I should get a pedometer. Is there a calories burned calculator for pedometers?
I probably weigh myself a few times a day... I know I shouldn't, but it's hard not too!
I ate a ton of bad food this weekend too. I think I went out atleast 5 times this week. Buffet, country style, pizza (3 times!!), unhealthy food from the cafeteria (twice), and some very greasy take out food my parents bought!!!! BAD!
I walked for atleast an hour yesterday though.
I want Turbo Jam. I hope my parent's will let me get it!.. But they said I'm not fat so I shouldn't get it. They suprised me when they said it, usually they make me feel fat.
I think for the weekend, I'm just going to do homework and study for my tests.

Tell them you want to get TJ so you can be healthy. Even thin, in shape people should exercise, and TJ sounds like a fun way to do it!! Though I haven't tried it myself.
Some pedometers come with a calorie counter. Others just tell steps but if you take...I think your number of steps and either divide or multiply by your stride? I don't know, I'll find out. But then you will know how many miles you walked, and that can help you figure the cals burned.
I worked today...ate some major junk, but oh well. Tomorrow is a new week, and next week we get two days off for spring break!! Yay!! :)
Pizza...greasy food...takeout...I know that song :)

I haven't been counting calories lately while eating, but.... I'll try to guess for today.
Breakfast:
Lots of rice and egg
Total: 500cal.
Lunch:
Bagel and juice
Total: 450cal.
Linner:
Peanutbutter toast + 3 cookies + milk
Total: 500cal.
Dinner:
Rice, greasy noodle stuff, egg
Total: 500cal.
Total for day: Roughly 2000 calories!
Gah! How do you do it? It's so hard to try and consume about 1500 calories a day. That's probably all I need. I always end up consuming atleast 2000 calories per day if I'm not strict with myself.

Well, back when I was actually DOING it...I was eating raw veggies for lunch, with maybe a piece of bread, a good filling breakfast, oatmeal usually, and quite small supper portions. Also exercising helps, and I was walking on the treddy almost every day.
I'm so glad you are back!! I have to go check out your diary.
I have been doing totally not good on cals.
Today I have eaten
bowl of frosted flakes gold=125
orange juice=100
ten Ritz crackers=160
diet mountain dew=0
mocha frappucino=180
carrot cake=200 (?)
Sonic Blast=620
plus a tostada and refried beans from el tap that I have no clue on the cals. Just with totaling what I know for sure it is 1385, plus the mexican food!! And no exercise. Yep, it's not confusing to me why I'm not losing weight.
I have to actually start TRYING again.
I can help you more with your calorie target tomorrow. Yeah, 2000 is probably a bit too much...just remember not to eat less than 1400, though. i will help you find a good number tomorrow. I have to go to bed soon right now, and I want to make sure i explain it all thoroughly, k?

Me too! I'm barely even trying anymore, but I have to get back on track! All the girls are wearing shorts and summery stuff now, but my legs would look very unflattering in shorts.
Hmm, I found some Turbo Jam Maximum Results on ebay, but none ships to Canada!
New goal = Look good in shorts!
I'm gonna make a new signature.. Hmm..
It'll be...

I like your sig!! :)
I haven't eaten much today really, but still a lot of calories because it was all junk.
I had a glass of Kool Aid, ten Ritz crackers, a small bag of chips, a Snisker bar, a diet mountain dew, and some chocolate milk. I am having a sonic chicken wrap for supper. I think I will be okaayy on calories, just bad on actual nutritional value.
I am leaving for work in about twenty mins, and I don't wanna get all sweaty, plus I still have to eat, so no exercise for today...
Shorts ho!! I would rather focus on tops. ALLLLlll my fat is in my stomach, methinks, it looks really gross, especially when I'm sitting

All my fat goes to my butt and thighs/calves. Yuck!
Yesterday I ate really badly! I might've been okay on calories too.
Yesterday I ate a slushie, chocolate bar, ice cream, pop, and other stuff. But I did go biking and walking too with my friends.
I hope I get turbo jam soon, I heard it's kinda like dancing and stuff, and I like dancing. :P
My dad also bought these quaker's maple oatmeal stuff, but I actually find it too sweet!

Okay, here we go:
You unadjusted RMR is 1277.
That means you should NEVER eat less than 1277. You body needs this many calories to perform everyday functions.
If you are SEDENTARY (which is described as little or no exercise and a desk job) then each day you burn:
1532
If you are LIGHTLY ACTIVE (which is described light exercise 1-3 days a week) then each day you burn:
1756 calories
If you are MODERATELY ACTIVE (moderate exercise or sports 3-5 days a week) then you burn:
1979
There are also categories for very active and extremely active, let me know if you think you are either of those.
A good calorie deficit is GENERALLY 15% to 20%. So, let's say you are sedentary, and let's say you shoot for a 15% deficit:
At sedentary, you burn 1532 calories every day. If you figure 15% of 1532, that is 230. So, you will eat 1530-230, or 1330.
So, let's say that theoretically each day for a week you burn exactly 1530 calories and eat exactly 1330. That means each day you burn off an extra 230, and in a week you will burn 230x7=1610, or almost half a pound.
Now I know half a pound a week doesn't seem like much, but as close as you are to goal that it really quite a lot.
Don't be disappointed if your supposed calories eaten and burned don't always match up with the weight lost each week. Our bodies are not perfect machines. Things like water retention, muscle mass, and all sorts of other things can make the readings funky.
Now, if you flat just use one of those "activity factors" you will not need to include calories you burn when you exercise. They are already figured in. HOWEVER, what you can do is:
Use your sedentary number
Each day, add in the number you burned doing whatever exercise you did for that day (you can figure this number by using the calories burned calculator)
Use that number for your total calories burned
THE CATCH
Your sedentary number includes the number of calories you expend breathing. When you total the calories you spend for a given exercise, that number also includes breathing.
So, say you burn your 1530 in a day from being sedentary, plus an extra 200 for exercsing thirty minutes.
However small the number is, a potrion of those calories are actually being counted twice, for breathing. During exercise you actually only burned, say 175. Get it?
let me know if you have any ?s
CG
Oh, and yay on TJ!! Let me know when you get it!

Thanks for my RMR info!!!
I'm not sure if I'm sedenatary or lightly active.
For 5 days a week, I have to walk for 45 minutes (walking to school and back). Other than the 45 mins a day of walking for 5 days a week, I'm practically motionless. Sleeping, computer, tv, homework, eating. Sometimes I go out with my friends, and we usually walk to places, but that doesn't happen too often. Maybe once a week or two weeks. The walking would probably burn about 100cal (or less) I think. I don't know how fast I walk, I walk faster than average though cause I'm always in a rush. But since I've been walking to school for a few months, I probably only burn 85 cal from that. Minus breathing... It'd probably be 60 cal. So maybe I burn 300 cal a week from walking to school and back. I'm not sure.
I might be between sedenatary or lightly active... So let's say I burn 1640 calories a day. I should have a decifit of 245-330 calories a day I guess. But... What if my body gets used to a decifit of that? Would I have to start doing more exercise, or eating even less if my body starts burning less from what I do to burn that 235-330 calories?

As you lose weight, your body will need a slightly fewer number of calories to survive. In that case, you will need to slightly adjust your intake/exercise.
Otherwise, it should cpntinue to burn the same number calories.
The best think to do would just be to try it out for a few weeks, see what kind of results you get, and then tweak it a bit. Give it a few weeks though. Like said, if the results don't match perfectly with your expectations due to your effort RIGHT AWAY...is because there are so many little variables. You have to have patience with a new plan.

If I start Turbo Jamming regularly, would I become moderately active or something?
So CG, how are things going with you?
I admit, I've been eating pretty badly lately.
For some reason, I don't feel like eating healthier or whatever until I receive my Turbo Jam lol.
I think I ate okay though today, but that's cause I've been feeling full for some reason!
Maybe I just ate so much this week, I just wasn't that hungry today or something.
I also bought these cute short shorts on the weekend.. But they're REALLY short. Like shorter than the average short shorts. I didn't realize they were that short though when I bought them!
I want to wear them, but I don't want to end up looking like a weirdo wannabeslim person... And I don't want people to think "eww, why is she wearing short shorts with those legs?!"
But I really do like them, I just don't want people to stare lol.
I think I might wear them eventually though. Maybe a bit of Turbo Jamming will give me some confidence. Hmm.
Eep!! I want it now!

I know what you mean about the shorts. I feel that way whenever I buy a "skinny" shirt. Like, it kinda fits, but maybe still shows a little bulge? But it's so okay, and I wanna wear it, but I don't want people to think, wow, how does she think she can wear that shirt?!
Um, I have been doing pathetic, to tell you the truth. Every day I think, ok, now I'm really going to get back on track. But it won't comes down to it I always think...oh, one more piece of pizza won't hurt. One ice cream cone won't kill me. How much damage can two cookies really do? And I just keep on eating.
I mean, I'm holding pretty steady on weight...I was 137.2 this morning. So I'm nt gaining...but I want tp be losing!!
I'm kinda sick right now. All I've eaten today is a bowl of frosted flakes, a glass of juice, a diet mountain, and a piece of bread.
And then right now I am eating a bowl of ice cream...and we are having pizza for dinner. So, I'm sure that will blow calories out the roof.
Once I get to feeling better though, I do think I wil be able to get back intop walking. So, exercise is just on hold until I can actually breathe and I'm not coughing every fifteen seconds
I hope your TJ comes soon!! Yeah, that could probably put you at moderately active, depending on how many times you do it per weeek.
Hey...do you want to join the May/June challenge? I think I'm going to. It's in the challenges section. The last one I tried to do, my scale broke, so it ended up flopping..

Yup, I just joined the challenge!
What exactly do you do in the challenge anyways? Are we supposed to do a specific thing to lose the weight or is the challenge just to lose some weight?
Cause if I don't have something specific to stick to that everyone else is sticking too, I probably won't do that well.
Same thing with me for the skinny shirts! The kind that sticks to your skin... I bought two of those over the weekend. I was hoping they would motiviate me to be healthier so the stomache bulge won't show lol! Cause it'd feel awkI'ward wearing them with the buldge. Most of my shirts are skinny shirts though, so when I pig out, the buldge is really noticeable!
I ate alright today. So far. A crumpet with honey in the morning. (150cal.)
And a bagel and a rice crispies square at lunch. (330cal.) And for linner I had some pea soup, corn, tuna with mayo, and a bit of cucumber. In large amounts. (500 cal.)
So far that's 980cal. I still need to have dinner though.
... This is so weird! The calories keep going up throughout the day. Though it should be decreasing (breakfast should be the biggest)! I just never have enough time in the morning so I just quickly grab something and something else for my lunch. When I get home, I have time to raid the fridge.
Chocolate chip cookies with milk are a weakness. I had 2 yesterday! I wonder if humans are built to like the taste of fat.
Gah! I haven't got an update on the status of my TJ since like April. 23. It's probably still at the post or something.

You might check with others to see how long it took for their TJ to arrive after they ordered it...I'm pretty sure zenobia has every DVD out there from TJ.
In the challenge...no, there's no specific way to lose the weight. You just post your start weight and then your weight each week...
The thing is, it's kinda embarrasing when everyone else loses weight if you gain weight, so I think that's the motivating part because everyone in the challenge sees how well (or not so well) you are doing.

Oooh
!
My Turbo Jam came today!!!
Earlier than I expected!
I did learn & burn twice, and 20 minute workout.
I didn't find it that intense though.
I might just not be used to the moves though.

Boy I am tired of being sick. I'm not really paying much attention to what I'm eating right now, just eating whatever I feel like.
Okay, here we go on the challenge! Wheee

I just hope I don't gain any weight on the challenge!!
Though I might... cause I'll be working out... So I might gain muscle and stuff.
Hmm..
I'm also going to a friend's bday party today, so there's going to be a ton of junk food! AHHH!!
Chips, pop, cake, fries, pizza, hotdogs, etc!
I think I'm just going to try to stick to the needed.
Cake of course.
Maybe just a fewwww chips. Though 1 chip means 30 lol. So maybe no chips.
I'll probably have a hotdog or pizza. 3 pieces MAX. I'll try to stick to just 2 piece though. Or just 1 hotdog if we're having those instead.
GAH!
It'll be like a fatty food party !
Okay, this is what I'm planning:
-2 pieces of pizza, or 1 hotdog
-1 piece of cake
-just water
-NO ice cream
-no chips... or maybe just a handful... maybe..
-some fries... if they have any... yum.
-no cookies!!
That's pretty good ..for a party I guess. Lol, I would usually eat everything I see.
~~
Oh, and I turbo jammed today also. I did punch, kick & jam (50 min)
And ab jam (45. min)
So that's about 1 and a half hours of turbo jamming! Whoot!
I think my stomache is already getting a tad bit flatter.. Or it's all in my head as my mom thinks lol.
~~
I hope you're starting to feel better!!

I think your party plans sound good. I find it so hard to be good around pizza!!! It's probably my biggest weakness.
But juts don't be really hard on yourself if you don't stick to plan. Just about everyone thinks occasional cheat meals are fine. You can always undo any damage I mean, it doesn't mean you can eat whatever, whenever, but if you mess up you can always fix it.
More later, gotta get to church.

This is what I ended up eating at the party...
3 chicken wings (270cal.)
salad (120cal.)
about 2 table spoons of dressing on the salad(120cal!)
pasta stuff (250cal.)
2 pieces of cake.. YUM. They weren't huge pieces though. (400 cal??)
I probably ate 1/8 of the cake.
It was very creamy and chocolatey.. mmm
Some munchies.. (120 cal.)
Candy (100cal.)
...
Total: 1380 calories!
Atleast I didn't drink any pop & there wasn't any pizza there...
But.. When I got home I ate a big slice of pizza.
Atleast I turbo jammed for an hour and a half yesterday, so that probably burned some of that off!

Hey, it coulda been worse. Parties are really hard, cause you don't wanna seem like a party pooper.
Well, today we had potluck at church so I kinda overdid it there probably. But, I did get just little bits of things, and I actually didn't feel that stuffed when it was over. So maybe I did ok.
And I did something I haven't done in a long time. I ate Taco Bell...and only got a chicken burrito and no cheesy fiesta potatoes. Yay! Gotta get shaped yp for the challenge!!
Hats of to you for all your turbo jamming! Do you just love it?
Oh...I also had a piece of cake and a glass of milk, and a cinna roll for breakfast..
Nighty night,

MMMM TACO BELL.
I lovee their burritos!
I haven't eaten there in forever though!
THE CHALLENGE IS NOW STARTING TODAY!
My breakfast and lunch were pretty light, but my linner was HUGE! And my dinner was pretty big. I kept eating though I was full. I'm pretty sure I went over 2000 calories, but I did burn some off with Turbo Jam. I did about 40 mins of Turbo Jam today. The 20 min workout, and part of Ab Jam.
So that probably burned about 300 calories? I'm not sure.. I wish there was a calculator specifically designed for the different workouts of Turbo Jam!
Yes, I love Turbo Jam!
How'd you do today on the first day of the challenge?

Gah, my mom's such a... grump. I'll still make her a mother's day card though.
I've been eating pizza and cookies too.
Yesterday I ate... HALF a whole pizza! Atleast it was thin crust.. I don't know how many calories were in it though cause someone threw away the box.
I also ate 2 chocolate chips today.. And a few fries.
I'm so nervous that I won't be able to achieve anything by the end of June.
So for breakfast today I had.. Cereal & Milk -- 300cal.
For lunch... sandwich-- 250cal.
Cookies-- 200cal.
Fries-- 50cal.
Total so far todayyy: 800cal.
I still have to have dinner.
& Turbo Jam.
I didn't have my usual linner today though cause I felt bad for eating so much yesterday. I didn't exercise yesterday either.
So if I do Turbo Jam, I could probably burn off maybe 300 calories.
That'd get me down to around 500calories... But that's too little. But then my dinner will probably bring it up to 1100 calories. Plus I'd probably have a snack, so my goal will be about 1300 calories-1500 calories today.
Eep! Tomorrow will be my weigh-in & measurements!

I figured it up
I ate 1025 calories worth of pizza.
You ate EITHER 800 calories OR 1140 calories. depending on whether it was a large or a medium.
Eeek. Oh well. Sometimes you just need pizza.
Hope TJ went well!!
