I'm pretty busy with school, so last week I only had time to go to the gym once, but I walked much more because of the beautiful weather and I went on a 2 hours jog/walk on the Mont-Royal.
I slip up on the food side tho, not so many bad things, but I didn't control the portion. So that makes me at the same weight today. (177,5 lbs)
I have an exam on friday, so next week-end will be totaly off.
What's your plan for next week?

I think the walking does wonders! I'm glad you did, it probably made the difference in keeping you at your same weight if your diet wasn't so good. 1 more week of school? Yay! Then you can make your weightloss a focal point which is great!
This week I'm going to continue with my weights, I wasn't feeling very sore from them last week so I think I need to up the reps and push myself out of my comfort zone this time. Biking is also high on my list, I'm going to be biking to work everyday, and on Thursday (my day off) I plan to spend the day biking through the city bike paths.
I can't even believe it but my scale says I'm 127.8 this morning! I know that you might as well say that's 128, but the .2 loss still excites me! I'll be really happy to hear once the same happens for you. Sometimes I feel bad when I'm reporting every week about my loss and yours has stayed the same Is there anything I can do to help encourage you more?
PS - I invited another girl to our group, she is around the same age as us and has similiar goals. I'm not sure if she'll come but if she does it'll be nice to keep the thread super active and everyone encouraging the other. I hope that's ok with you!

Hi!
I am looking for a diet buddy and saw you guys have started. I noticed that we have similar goals. I am looking to loose 17 pounds in time for summer. I am also in my twenties and although I am in Texas, I used to live in Canada and I am still a Canadian citizen...
I won't take offense if you decide on no, but I was wondering if maybe I could join and make it a trio??
Thanks!

Welcome Monkey809 !! I'm glad you've decide to join our buddies team. I've read some of your posts on the challenge page, but feel free to give us more details about your weight loss strategy.
I finish school in June, but I finish a course on friday and start the next one on monday, so between that it's a full week-end off.
Kalypso, I'm really happy about your weight loss, so don't feel bad to report your good news even if my scale doesn't move. Keep working hard :)

Man, I feel so fat today. Ate a bit more than I usually would, but I know the real culprit is my monthly cycle. It's so hard to keep up progress during this time - I feel so gross and bloated, plus my hunger cravings seem to skyrocket. Bleh. Woe is me.
Skinny Jean Update: I tried my jeans on yesterday for 'fun' to see if they were anywhere near to fitting me, and I couldn't get them up. I felt kind of discouraged, but I know I still have 8 pounds to go.

I know what you mean. I'm in that time of the month too right now, and i'm craving for chocolate!
Sooner that you think, those jeans will fit. Until then, your actual clothes might look better on you.
Have a nice day

I have lives lots of places. But I was in Markahm Ontario. Then I moved to CT, then to CA, and now in TX. In 2 months I am moving to AZ.
Feel very fat today, I ate a huge cinnabon!! I'm so bad. I will have to start again tomorrow. I don't really have a plan to lose weight. I go on and off different things and I think that is the problem. I know that I don't eat any carbs for a week I can loose 5 pounds fast, but I love carbs. I started on Monday on my no carbs and lasted until Wed Morning. So 2 days. I have been trying to lift weights, but only seem to make it 1 or 2 times a week. I just have a hard time sticking to anything.

Ohh Markham, my cousin lives there... I'm actually going there in about a month
You sound like you might be an army wife with all that moving around, lol!
Don't be discouraged, I think maybe you just need to find something that works for you. How do you get to work? I recommend biking, fun and exercise! The weights are something I really have to motivate myself to do as well, but when I'm finished doing it I know it felt worth it. One thing that helped me was putting on some headphones and listening to some good energetic music while I did it. Hope some of this helps!
PS - Cinnabon, they have those in the states too?? I can see the temptation, they are so hard to resist!!!

Cinnabon are so delicious!
Since yesterday I feel fat. I just weight, and I've gained one pound.. that really doesn't help. I'm pretty sure it's normal weight fluctuation because I saw 176,5 lbs couple of days ago (which would mean a 1 pound LOSS!). Anyway, I have plenty of time to go to the gym today. I'll probably feel better about myself after a good workout.
Skinny jeans update: They fit, but still have a muffin top going on because they're tight!! I wear them sometimes, when I wear a shirt that covers that. Can't wait to be 100% confortable in them.

I hear ya, jinx... I'm glad to hear you can at least fit into yours though, that's great news! I'm actually starting to wonder if I was a little too ambitious and bought jeans that were actually too small for me regardless of how much weight I'll lose. They are a 27, and I'm not sure if I've ever been a 27 in the hips, or should be. I think I'm going to hunt for my meassuring tape and check that out.
I had a horrible weekend diet-wise, I completely fell off the wagon. I wanted to do well yesterday, but then my roomie and I went downtown and she convinced me to go into this restaurant for lunch. I didn't wanna sit there and watch her devour her greasy cheesy nachos, so I gave in and got a huge cheeseburger with fries and the works. This is the first time in a while my weight come to a stand still, but better a stand still than a gain.
How did you do this weekend, monkey?

I didn't do very well. I ate filipino food and it's not healthy at all. I haven't been to the gym since last Monday and I am feeling so fat!! I just feel like I will never loose the weight.
you know what I miss, Lays Ketchup chips! They don't sell them here.
I don't know if my goal is unrealistic or not. I am 5'1 and currently weigh 128. Is 115 too low. Maybe I should put my goal for 120 first. Then when I meet that goal I can go down to 115. I just can't control myself, I love eating!!

Jinx, Congrats on getting your skinny jeans to fit! I also hate Muffin Top!!!
I don't have a realistic pair of skinny jeans. Mine are size 0. Not sure if I should invest in a pair I can't fit in or just wait.

Ok ladies. I am in need of some serious help. I weighed in this morning and am officially at 128. I couldn't fit into any of my clothes without them cutting into my blubber and hurting. I am wearing sweatpants at work today. This is the heaviest I have ever been and I desperatly need to loose at least 15 pounds.
I know what I am doing wrong, I don't stick to a diet, go to the gym enough and eat junk. I just can't help it. I am so tired after work and I have my 5 year old son who needs lots of attention. But I am really depressed today. I used to be so thin and felt beautiful and now I feel ugly and hate to say, FAT.
I need a good diet plan that isn't too hard that I can stick to. But for the rest of the week I don't think I want to eat very much, just proteins and water to see if that helps a little. If I loose some weight then I will be motivated, but I notice I barely loose anything( a pound or two) after weeks of working out and eating well. Then I loose all motivation. Please help!!

Hi Monkey, sorry to hear about your troubles right now... we've all been there so we can definitely relate. To answer your earlier question - No, 115 lbs is not too low of a weight for a person who is 5'1", infact that does fall within the normal range for you. I would love to get down to 115 myself but that would be the bare minimum of my normal range, anything under is probably considered unhealthy for me (I'm 5'6). So go ahead, make 115 your goal if you think it's possible to achieve it!
I can see what your problem is, which I've noticed with most working mothers... they are always tired and want to make something quick and easy (which always ends up being junk, as you said). My solution for that (based on watching wayyy too many weight loss shows) is to try and take a free day to prep everything ahead of time... like just cutting a bunch of fruit/veggies and storing them in containers. I also bake my chicken ahead of time and store it as well... this way all I have to do is grab it and put together a salad in no time flat. I also pre-cook my whole wheat pasta ahead of time and store it, all you need to do is add the sauce and heat it! I hope this helps at all!
Oh and maybe it's better you don't have Lays Ketchup chips there because then you can't keep buying bags and eating them!

My quick fix when I need to eat fast but don't want to eat junk is cereals. I usually have special K or muslix with milk and a cup of fruit. It's simple and really fast and it's more balanced than the usual junk food choice.
Don't put too much pressure on you for losing weight. You need structure and good habits, but the negative toughts will only make it harder.
Stay positive

I stepped on the scale and I am 127 lbs this morning, whoo hoo! 1 pound down after a week or so of no loss. I haven't been able to do much exercising due to working more than usual, but sticking to the healthy diet really pays off.

This morning I'm at 176,7 lbs. Slowly going down...

Good Job you guys!! Did you all have good weekends?
mine was pretty good, I am really trying. My only dilemma now is that I seriously have 2 pairs of pants that fit me and only a handful of shirts. I pretty much wear the same stuff all the time. I wonder if I should buy some more clothes now or wait until I loose my weight. I feel like it would be a waste if I bought them now, but boy do I need clothes. I may have to get a couple things...

I know how you feel, monkey... that's part of what made me realize I had to start losing. My then-boyfriend kept asking me why I was always wearing the same black pants all the time, it was extremely embarrassing to tell him the truth. He told me that if I'm having a hard time getting myself to lose weight then to just buy a pair of pants that actually fit me. I was reluctant to do it, but I ended up doing it anyways. I think that as long as you get at least ONE pair that fit you then you'll be ok... but don't change up your entire wardrobe to a larger size.
I've been going through some stressful situations lately and I fear that some of my weightloss may have been due to lack of eating lately, which is not a good thing because I know it will come back to bite me in the butt. I'm still holding at 126lb. However, I still am making healthy food choices when I DO eat... still biking to work and back home everyday. Haven't picked up my weights in over a week and done any toning. Sometimes it really sucks when life throws you a curveball and knocks your whole schedule off balance
I wanna hear about you girls though! Jinx, congrats! Slow and steady!! What kinds of things are you both doing this week? Same routine or trying something new maybe?

I've lost weight, but I'm not doing that great. I've been sick in the past days and I can't find the energy to work out... I've lost appetite as well, so that balanced things out. But that's not healthy at all!
Monkey, I have 3 different sizes of clothes in my wardrobe... (9's, 11's and 13's). Don't be bothered by buying bigger clothes, some pants could still be ok after you've lost the weight, you'll just need a good belt.
Feeling better today and it's sunny outside... I'll try to make a light run later this afternoon. Kalypso, I hope the stressing events will quiet down soon. Stay strong

Oh yeah, seeing the numbers go down when you get sick is nice but too bad it's not a healthy way to lose weight I saw 125 lb on my scale today and I don't feel excited about it because I know it's due to eating under my daily calorie limit. I'm still going through some stressful conditions but it's getting better slowly...
I hope you feel better as well, getting sick during the spring is no fun!!

124.6 lb now... yikes. Wasn't sure what to make of it, but I didn't feel excited for some reason. I ate awful yesterday (creamy pasta, pancakes smothered in syrup, etc) but at least I ate! My personal situation has been improving a little bit so it's helping me get my appetite back, but I'm making the worse food choices. I don't wanna see the numbers on the scale go back up again so I hope I can watch myself this week
I haven't heard from you girls in a few days, what's going with you?
