Ok, so I had a high calorie day, and now I am lazy and don't want to exercise. Normally, I make myself. But, for whatever reason, I just don't want to tonight.

What do you guys do to make yourself exercise? Any tricks out there to help with this...

Try to find some accountability.

For me, I make it a point to at least walk 1 mile on most days. My dog looks forward to it, and in my mind, that walk is for HER.

Since the friend of the family has been staying with us, she has been walking with me, and she also has a dog. That helps.

Did you join that gym? Having to pay for something every month is a good motivation to make use of it. After all, you have to pay whether you go to the gym or not - might as well make it worth the money.

Maybe your hubby would start walking with you. It's beautiful out right now - the leaves are changing colors, the weather is cold, but pleasant lately, although I'm sure it's much colder up there.

Try to find someone to exercise with, someone who shares your free time. Set times for you to work out. That way, you know that someone else is directly depending on you, too.

Happy exercising.

I ended up trying out one of my tapes I got. It's a tae bo tape with that billy guy. I didn't really like it. So, after about 10mins. I ended up watching a movie with hubby.

He won't walk with me, he hates walking.

Anyway, yeah, I never even thought about the gym, I should of went there and went swimming or something.

Oh well, tomorrow is a new day, and I think I will go walking with the kids if the weather holds out.

Plus, I find that if I eat before I exercise it's all over with. So, I should of known better.

Sometimes I feel the same way but I just look at like my body is just tired. I think oh well there is always tomorrow and make sure I go the next day. It is hard to find motivation when someone doesn't wanna do something with you so find someone that does. I have a friend who is looking at me as inspiration and motivation but doesn't wanna pay for the gym. I told him hey anytime you wanna go let me know I can bring a guest and I'm always ready to go. He told me he doesn't wanna join unless he and I can workout at the same time. I  told him I can't be around 24/7 that you have to find it in yourself to wanna do it

Yeah, I wish I could find some sort of exercise that my husband like to do, so we could workout together. He does like to ride his bike, but he rides in slow motion mode. I can't do that. I want to ride, and not mess around and talk the whole time.

I am not worried about him getting enough exercise, cause hes always moving, and never sits and relaxes. It's like pulling teeth to get him to watch a movie with me. But, I thought if we could find something in common, we could hang together more often.

lol, we are total opposites, so it's hard to find things in common.

Anyway, not really about exercise, but thought I would throw that out there.

I got this idea from MollyMoo's diary .... what I try and do now is just get dressed ready to work out and for some weird reason it motivates me to do it.

Sometimes I even get dressed and sit on the sofa for a while then something inside me says "you are already dressed just go and do it".

Well, I know I won't need to get motivated today. I already did almost two hours of aerobics. lol

Just for whatever reason, last night....couldn't do it.

Hey, sorry to hear you didn't like the Tae Bo; depending on why that was, maybe Turbo Jam would appeal to you more.

As for motivation...*shrugs* If it's not usually a problem, maybe your body just needed to rest?

How long after you eat do you try to exercise?  I've read in several different places that it's not a good idea to try exercising for at least two hours after you've eaten.  Something about digestion and blood flow.

You know, I have thought about doing some of that Turbo Jam stuff, and most definitely will when I get my hands on a tape.

As far as exercising after eating, I don't know what all the reasons are for not doing it, but I know for me, it is difficult. I always try to eat after I exercise.

Yeah in addition to putting on the workout outfit, and shoes...

I have found that having special workout clothes really helps too.  I bought some Reebok gear that looks really good and supports all the right places, and that motivates me even more cause I get to wear my new stuff!

Try taking a day off from working out I'm telling you your body will thank you for it. Also try eating a power bar and  a cup pineapple  before working out. The pineapple will give you an energy boast like no other at least it does for me. I always try not have a big meal before working out just something light like that. I will eat that and go with in a half hr after words. After a big meal I wait at least  1 hr 1/2 before going unless I'm bike riding then no worries at all. I burn a ton of calories when I ride since I'm at my goal weight I need food in me so I go when ever. Like today I rode 17 miles in the hills and I ate all kinds of food it kept me moving all day. I didn't feel tired until we sat in the car and then parts of my body hurt that I didn't  know existed :grin:

Good Idea, I will try the pineapple. Yeah, when I was walking allot it didn't really matter if I ate before hand or not. But, gee, the bouncing around with aerobics sure makes a difference.

Hey, I thought about you last night when I didn't want to finish my walking on the treadmill. I thought, hellrazor would do it. I not only finished I went an extra 1/2 mile.

So, THANKS! lol

I'm having a lot of problems with this, good to see I'm not the only one. Usually my excuses are thus: It's cold in the basement. My skin is dry. I won't be able to focus on anything but the food I ate. I'd rather lay in bed and watch Malcolm in the Middle.

I busted my cold excuse by making slimfast with hot water once. It warmed me up, filled me up, and got me in the basement. Made me pee a lot though, maybe I'll use milk next time. When my skin feels dry, I put on lotion. Usually I would think "you're wasting money" but then my logical mind says "sweaty skin absorbs moisture better" plus, lotion acts as a mild barrier to the cold air. When I'm preoccupied with other thoughts, I take a notebook or a voice recorder with me and think of more important things to worry about like chores or errands or bills. When I'm anchored in bed, I pick up my ipod and listen to whatever song is stuck in my head. Usually they're energetic ones. It gives me a little adrenaline boost and I usually end up exercising. And if you're worried about missing tv shows or find yourself using it as an excuse, they always post new episodes on the network's website within 24 hours, sometimes sooner. I'm so glad they do, or I'd never see the new simpsons.

Being cold is one of my excuses also. But, I figured out how to dress in layers. So, I am warm when I start exercising, and then just take stuff off as I go.

Lately, I don't want to exercise at all. So, I think I am going to return to the walking for awhile and leave the aerobics for when I am more energetic.

Hey Ash, I forgot to say in my earlier post that dry skin is a huge problem of mine. I found the best thing for it, is to put lotion on right when you get out of the shower. It locks in the moisture. So, your not really wasting your money. Plus, it's all worth it to me when my hubby tells me my skin is soft,.
