Hello everyone,
I have been 207 pounds until recently. I have gone through many articles about loosing weight and finally I got a plan which I thought suits my habits. I am 5,10" height.
Currently I am doing 1hour of brisk walking (4 m/hr) with moderate instensity workout each and every day and burning atleast 500-600 cals/day. At the same time I have reduced my calorie intake compared to what I was eating earlier by atleast 500 cals/day. I am not letting my body starve at any point though, as that will reduce the metabolic rate and slows down weight loss. I eat some light snack when I feel hungry between the meals.
So, from above plan that I am doing I burning atleast 1000-1200 cals/day ( exercise + diet ) as of now and I have reduced nearly 8 pounds in last 3 weeks. I am very happy about the progress and very motivated to continue to reach my target of 170 pounds.
My concern is, I am surprised at the progress so far so quickly and I am thinking if I continue to maintain this routine everyday will I be able to reach my target or does it usually slow down after a certain point of initial fall?
Additionally if you can give me a feedback of what you think about current workout and diet I am doing I will be very glad!
Thank you.

| What you're doing sounds sensible. (That doesn't mean loss won't slow down as you get closer to goal - that happens to everyone.) If and when you stop getting results, would be the time to review. For example, counting calories is a useful diagnostic tool, but why use it if everything is (so far) going just fine - just enjoy the ride for now

I agree with Nir. When you're really putting forth an effort to get healthier, you naturally want everything to be optimal. You can get so obsessed with this, though, that it can drive you crazy. I've had points where I analyzed my diet and exercise so throughly that I became quite frustrated, and thought about just giving up because it was so complicated.
If what you are doing is working for you, then kudos, and keep it up! If you hit a plateau, then it might be a good time to do a more in-depth analysis.
Last week was my birthday, and I ate quite a bit, probably 3000 calories or more that day, and more than usual the day before as well. I still lost 4 pounds last week. :)
The most important thing is to find a regimen that you will actually stick with. Every change you make is important, even the small ones, because they are all building blocks toward better health.
