I walk all the time now. For about the last year.
Lately, I have started to ride my bike and I have to say that it doesn't bother me at all now. Before, I would huff and puff, and it would about kill me to ride short distances.
Now, I ride all over, and its not a big deal. Is this cause I walk all the time and have built up my stamina?
I was just curious as to why it doesn't bother me now and did before.
I was also wondering cause this fall I want to go up north and ride the trails. Want to make sure I am ready. You know, condition for it or something. I been trying to ride everyday. But, sometimes its hard to work it in with all my walking.
How many times a week should I ride my bike, to condition for the trails up north. Does anyone know?

Any aerobic exercise will help you from an aerobic standpoint with other aerobic exercises.
Muscles are a different matter, but certainly both walking and biking must both utilize some of the same leg muscles.

Yes, this is true for me as well.
Now that I've been cycling for a little while, the treadmill is much easier. Of course, I haven't really used the treadmill since I started working out, but it's still such a big difference.
Yesterday, just out of curiousity, I wanted to see what I could handle on the treadmill. I went all the way up to 10 MPH for about 30 seconds. That was interesting. My shins still hurt. XP
I think I could do 6 MPH pretty well, though, but I think I'll stick with the bike, at least for now. *Pets bike*

I'm sure walking got you in better cardio shape, which would help you with other cardio workouts. You don't have to cycle everyday to get in shape to ride trails. I would think cycling 2-3 X a week, plus your walking is plenty of conditioning.
Trail riding is difficult, tho. I used to cycle 20-30 miles a day on the road and run 5-7 miles a day and I had trouble with trails.
My running could have worn me out some tho. I think you'll be ok!! You won't know until you try!! Good Luck!!
