Hey all!

I was thinking about this today on my daily walk--what little adventures do we out-of-doors walkers encounter?

For example, today I was walking past this concrete wall that surrounds this residential neighborhood.  I picked my way over the fallen branches that scattered the sidewalk, assuming that there had been a wind the night before.  Just then, I heard this scrape and crash--and another HUGE branch landed behind me on the sidewalk.  Apparently, someone was deciding to rid their yard of excess limbs by tossing them over the wall and onto the sidewalk.  Missed that huge branch by mere moments!

Then, yesterday, I was walking along and was attacked by this bush that thinks that it is related to a cactus but really isnt.  I was swinging my arms, lost in the moment when...BAM! it poked my knuckles! I started bleeding pretty good.  I think that bush waits for me and sneaks up on me like a cat on a bird, as this is the 4th or 5th time its gotten me.:chewing:

And the day before I was the aggressor.  I was walking along on the sidewalk, again littered with leaves and branches, and I was listening to these popping and cracking sounds.  I thought it was leaves and branches.  Turns out I was acting like Godzilla to lots of unsuspecting grasshoppers and snails. :snail: Poor little buggers! The grasshoppers tried to run, but the poor snails had no chance!

I was wondering if anyone else is having the same 'adventures' that I am! lol

I've got one that fits right into your list!

I was out jogging one morning when I kept hearing these little crashing sounds... very small... in the general area. But didn't have a clue what they were. Finally I saw what it was.

I was running through an old walnut orchard... now the only trees left were in the yards of the homes built there. Crows were taking them high into the sky and dropping them on the pavement to break them open!

How's that for being attacked. I once saw something similar with gulls dropping clams onto rocks at the beach for the same reason.

Now, don't even get me started about dogs chasing runners. I used to run by this little old lady that would take her dog out front of her home and stand there waiting while it went across the street and pooped on her neighbor's lawn.

It wasn't on a leash, and if I came by at that time it would start chasing me. It was just having fun and I wasn't afraid it was going to bite me, but she would yell at me to stop because I was making her dog chase me away from her!

After I did stop the first couple times I got mad and just kept running and she had to follow after her dog.

About the cactus... in the deserts we have a cactus called cholla, and one variety, jumping cholla, grows in little segments that easily break off. And the are covered with prickers shaped like hooks.

When you brush against one IN THE SLIGHTEST it ends up hanging on your leg (ouch!), and you could swear it jumped right off the plant and onto you.

We stopped in the desert once and despite my most detailed warning, ended up pulling them off my daughter's legs.
