I exercise on the treadmill for 20 minutes and 5 days per week. I burn 108 calories and 33.4 fat calories. I do not know how to classify my exercise in order to figure out how much I need to eat to lose weight. The moderately active category seems appropriate but I do not know if my exercise is considered moderately active. My workout could be considered lightly active because I do not burn a lot of calories.
Sedentary (little or no exercise, desk job)
Lightly active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week)
Moderately active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week)
Very active 6-7 days/week (hard daily exercise/sports and physical job)
that's something that i have alays questioned, too. it really boils down to experimentation. just don't ever eat less than your basic RMR... you can adjust accordingly as you go. monitor your weight for a few weeks and see if you go up or down, or even stay the same. if you eat too little, your weight loss can come to a stand still. maybe start somewhere between lightly active and moderately. oh, and do you do much else as far as physical activity? is your job physical? that is going to have an impact.
when i started, i think i used my base RMR and just added as i went. days i was more active, i added a bit.. days i was less, i tried to eat less. you just have to see how your body responds.
best of luck!
