Hello, my name's Monique. I am thirteen years old. I've been a little bit obese since the fifth grade. Three-four months ago.. I was 5'8" at the time, and I weighed 220lbs. I grew ALOT in the past two months and.. so at my visit to the doctors office I found out I lost 40 lbs I figured this out because the last time I weighed myself was three to four months ago! I was reallllly lazy back then.. but now i'm getting into the swing of things. I never was a "fat" girl, when I was reallllly young I was about 20lbs underweight I exercised daily. I gained about 100lbs in grade five/six... and it was realllly hard trying to fit into clothes and seeing a few extra spare tires.

Now, I am 5'11 and a half.. and around 180lbs. I lost this 40 some what pounds by just eating less junk, drinking water (nooooo pop what-so-EVER) and watching my calories. I see my clothes getting more loose on me, and I can fit into things I never used to! Now, since the weight is getting realllly hard to lose I think I need to learn new exercise to help me lose some more weigh. *Keep in mind i'm 13 years old* I need help with some exercise suggestions that I can do to help me lose about 40 lbs.. i'd like to lose it in a year.

Can anyone help me with exercise I can do//ideas on how to lose weight the healthy way. (I eat lots of fruits and vegetables and drink alot of water.) Since, it's getting into fall maybe some I can do exercise outdoors and some indoors..  but i'm completley clueless on the topic of exercise! Can anyone on here help me? It would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

          Monique. :)

Hello and welcome to our message board.  I hope you will find it as helpful as I have.  Wonderful job on the losing weight!!!!!  Now, exercises you can do...  I have tried to research how much we should exercise and what I have come up with is that we should exercise 30-60 minutes most days of the week (so at least 4, I try for 6),  What exercises can you do?  Walking or jogging are wonderful, bike riding, do the exercises you learned in PE class in school, ask your mom or dad if they will buy you an exercise DVD, play basketball or another sport, etc. you just want to get your heart rate up (like when you can feel it pumping in your chest).  I hope this helps.  If you have any other questions just ask.  I would be happy to answer anything I can.  Also you may find it helpful to read the FAQ on this site.  Good luck!
