when I do sit-ups or crunches, the center of my stomach bulges WAY up and surrounding area sinks in--it looks very weird. Is this normal for someone who is very overweight-especially around the middle? When I was younger & much thinner, I never saaw this--it just stayed flat. I'm guess the muscles just can't hold in what they  once could,  and/or there is just such a heavy layer of fat that it's so much more noticeable!

Hi, I understand what you're saying. I think it's just all the extra "flab" that's over the muscle, but it looks weird. It runs from the bottom of the ribcage to the belly button, like a huge rounded ridge--sticks up a good 3 inches and the area immediately to each side goes concave. It just seems like I gained SO much weight around my middle SO fast in only 3 months--this is after quitting a sedentary job & I am more active than before! *but making better meals for the family...* My doc & ob/gyn don't find anything wrong. So I'm going to call a personal trainer at a health club to see if they've seen this. If I keep up the walking & exercises, I'm sure my worries will "melt away" soon anyway! Thanks for your response!
