Hello Everyone,
I am Steve, been overweight all my life and have lost the same 130 pounds at least 4 times. I have over 100 to lose and I am looking for a buddy to share Ideas,  recepies and  simply to keep eachother motivated. I have been doing great for the past month and want to stay focused. I have looked at weight loss a lot differently now, I use to focus on my food... but that is not it for me... It's your head, your body in general. I have found that when I am feeling sluggish or my head is not wide awake I tend to eat. My food choices are bad and all in all I do the wrong thing. Now that I make my self exercise 5 to 6 days a week, Elliptical, Bike and Weights I feel so wide awake and loving my life that it gives me the drive to do better each day. So I hope some of you try the exercise thing and it works for you... I found out that it hurts and stinks for 4 days... then all of a sudden you want to do it... YES no fooling you want to do it. Now I look forward to working out and I am about 120 pounds overweight... So if any of you want to buddy up and help eachother stay motivated please let me know. Good luck to all of you and I really love this web page. I have found so many interesting topics that have helped me each day.

Thanks,
Steve

Hey Steve,

I'm not looking for a diet buddy (already have two), but I just have to comment on your losing 130 pounds four times, or 520 pounds.

I expect we've lost the same amount of weight!

I never actually counted, but I've probably lost my 20 pounds at least 26 times... another way to lose 520!

Best wishes for finding a diet buddy and success in reaching your goals.

P.S.

Hmm. That really got me thinking. I guess I haven't gone up and down a full 20 pounds that many times, but then a number of them have been 30... so the math is still pretty close!

I think I have a better handle on it this time around Peter. This time my focus is on me and not food. Each time I dieted I made food my main focus... Now I am listening to my body and understanding how I feel each inch of the way to being thin. I have learned th hardest things are the things to do like exercise, moving away from the table once you think your full... just those 2 things make a world of difference.

So far it's working and I am not killing myself either... sure I eat good foods but I also have what I want to eat also... No more depriving me of anything... I am teaching my brain not to hoard food... 1.5 months and I feel like a new person.

Thanks for writing,
Steve

Hello!

I am 28 y.o, 5'5", 218lbs, looking to lose 73lbs.  I am married, but my husband doesnt have a weight problem (he is actualy, underweight.  His family is extremely focused on appearance and they have him convinced that he is fat! Lord knows what they think of me! lol)

I recently moved across the country and am having a hard time adapting to my new 'home.'  I havent been able to find a job since I moved, and, trying to keep positive, have decided that this is the time that I am meant to focus on me.  I have joined a gym and have been going regularly, 3-4 times a week, for approximately three weeks.  (I have been a member since septemeber, but my attendance was sporadic, at best.) I try to walk every day, since I absolutely love walking.

I am looking for someone in a similar situation, who knows how frustrating it can be to lose a large amount of weight.  Someone to offer encouragement, to share ideas and stories, to nag each other, and to hold each other accountable.

Hope to meet someone soon!

Hello Melissa and Steve,

My name is Anne and I have just seen your posts on looking for a weight loss buddy.  I am responding to both of you because it occurs to me that we might do well together as a three-some.  You both have mentioned that you have alot to lose and having that in common may be helpful to you.  Although I do not have that amount of weight to lose, I can tell you that I am dedicated to the cause and dependable.  In other words, I will be around this site for the long haul and would look forward to being buddies with you.

A little about my situation: I have struggled with weight all my life.  I lost weight as a teenager and did pretty well for a number of years.  Then about 15 years ago, I started gaining.  On January 1 this year, I began in earnest to get the weight off and have lost 28 lbs since then.  I set my initial goal for 35 lbs which is 7 lbs away but once I get there, I will set another goal, probably for another 15 lbs.  I am not doing any fad diet as I know that this is a lifestyle - I can't go "off" a diet when I reach the goal.   I am simply counting calories, eating healthy food and exercising.  The weight is coming off pretty slowly but I am determined to stick it out.

I am already in another buddy forum but I feel like I need to make more contacts with "losers" to keep me focused.  My other buddies are not posting that often and so I believe I can keep up with both.

You may be thinking that I can't empathise with your situation but I assure you that I can.  The negativity of being overweight can be overwhelming and I have experienced that very often in my life.  I am also an expert on healthy eating even though I have not always practiced it!

So what do you say?

Anne

Anne,

I would love it! i think it would well with all three of us--plus, dont worry, a loss is a loss.  I wouldnt judge you! its just as hard to be 30 lbs overweight as it is 70!

I guess we need a name and to move the forum?

Peter,

Melissa, Steve and I have all agreed to be in a forum together.  I'm going to propose "Three Determined Losers" for our name.  We might want to give Steve and Melissa an opportunity to weigh in on this (pun intended) before we go ahead.

Thanks

Anne
