Hi, I'm Lisa.  Im 51, I just quit smoking and gained about 10 pounds.  Trouble is, Im already 50 pounds overweight.

I never thought I could quit smoking.  I smoked for 25 years.   So Im figuring that if I could do that, I should be able to do just about anything.   But this weight thing is so much more confusing.   Quitting smoking was easy in comparison.   I just stopped.   With eating, that's the problem, stopping.  I'm a habitual picker and now its even worse than it ever was.  Plus I love to cook.   Not  a junk food eater, just an eater of good tasty fattening food, I guess.

Where do i start?    Oh, I forgot, I'm a diabetic on insulin and I am Always hungry.  :chewing:

The tutorial is always a good place. I'd also be reading a health book that explains how to 'reverse' diabetes with proper nutrition (there are plenty to chose from, my favourite is Dr Fuhrman's Eat To Live)

This usually happens when you quit smoking so don't get tensed. Smoking burns about 200 calories a day. In addition to that as smoking burns calories it gives a boost to your metabolic activities. Gaining about 5 to 10 pounds is usually considered to be normal and which can be shed by proper diet and regular exercise. To begin with you can also get some very useful tips by watching various nutrition and  medical video online.
