Hello, I am Derek. I found the website by searching for "I've hit a wall with weight loss" on Google. It linked me to someones post who is dealing with the same issues.
About me: I am at an impass in my life and have to turn myself around. I have just turned 37 and am very unhappy with myself. My wife left me about 3 years ago, and now it is just me and my dog. Now divorced, I need to turn my whole life around, starting with getting myself into shape.
I started my health kick about 3 months ago weighing in at 242 lbs. I am 6'2" tall and was on the verge of needing pants that were going to be larger than 40" in the waist, to which I refused. I have been very dedicated with going to my gym and have been getting fitter ever since I started, however did not start seeing much weight loss until I added in the nutrition/diet side of things.
The good news: I am currently 219 lbs. and I have lost 4" off the waist and I am quite a bit stronger. I go the the gym 5 or 6 days a week for a very strict routine of 2 days/upper body, 2 days/lower body, 1 or 2 days of 1.5 hours Cardio. I also do 45 mins of cardio on weight-training days. I am eating very healthy foods with protein shakes around my workouts to about 2000 cals a day. My plan is to lose 2 lbs/week until my goal weight of 175-180 (whatever gets me down to under 10% body fat).
The bad news: This regimen is very difficult to stay motivated as I have now weighed in at the same weight for 3 consecutive weeks, despite huge efforts. I have hit some kind of wall.
I like the idea of joining a forum of people to help me get to my goal weight who have similar issues. I look forward to corresponding with you, and hearing your recommendations. I wouldn't mind making a few friends either, feel free to say something
