I was doing really well on an eating plan set up for me by my trainer/nutitionist. Then I hurt my back at the gym and could not go for the past 4 months. I also found it tough to stay on the diet without the discipline of seeing the trainer, so I gradually - or perhaps not-so-gradually - put back on 10 lbs of the 24 lbs I had lost since July 2, 2008.

I thought I might give the Beyond Calories diet a try to jump start me. It didn't seem too different from what I was doing before - which was eating 5 small meals a day, each consisting of a protein and a carb plus 28 g of fat per day.

I am onto Day 3 of the BC diet and have not lost anything yet. In fact, I am up 0.8 lbs and am constipated badly. My friend who inspired me to do this diet lost 20 lbs in 10 days. She weighed about 30 lbs more than me - I weigh 155 lbs and she weighed 185 when she started. But still I am not sure why I am not losing.

Same thing happened to me years ago on Atkins. I suffered through two weeks of Atkins, lost zilch and gave up on it. I am wondering if this is going to be similar. At least the other diet was sustainable, meaning I could see myself eating that way forever. Not so sure that I can see myself doing BC forever. Entire days witout protein or entire days without veggies are tough to face. It is weird to think of sitting down to dinner with my family and having only a salad and no protein or having only a chicken breast with no veggies. It doesn't even seem like a "real" meal. But I'll keep going to the end of the 10 days and see what the results are.

At least I am not hungry, which is a good thing.
