Hi all!
I'm Sarah. I'm an electrical technician from Omaha, Nebraska. I also work part time at a department store. I'm terribly shy, so posting a new thread just about me would not be the first thing i'd normally do on a forum. I don't want to my registration to lapse, tho, so I'm gonna suck it up and hope I don't sound like too much of an idiot :p
I quit smoking about four months ago and allowed myself to just eat whatever I wanted to substitute my nicotine cravings. Unfortunately, it seems now that I want to eat sugar and carbs 24 hours a day!! I can not believe how hard it is for me to stop eating since I quit smoking. I used to be able to go all day long without eating and now as soon as I wake up I want to start stuffing my face. I obviously have issues with food :b. I'm trying to get better though it seems like I simply traded one addiction for another.
I'm having a hard time changing my bad habits. Since I work about 65 hours a week I just don't have time to exercise daily, maybe three times a week if i'm not too exhausted from work. Planning meals is also been really difficult for me. I usually just grab something at lunchtime from whatever fast food place is nearby and try to pick a 'healthier' option from the menu. I can't seem to stop snacking in between meals tho!
I haven't had a lot of time to browse yet, but so far this seems like a really great forum. Thanks for reading if you've gotten this far and I'll see you around :)

Hi Sct, I felt the need to respond as, I quit smoking a little over 4 years ago, and like you took up eating!!...I gained 60 pounds in about6 months, and I just now am ridding myself of the smoking weight. It's hard quitting, and for me I find it just as hard to rid myself of the weight, however, like the quitting of cigs, it gets easier with time. I was out of control with food when I quit. Anything and everything I saw I ate. Perhaps if you got some sugar free candy to suck on all day? For me right now I chew chew chew a ton of gum, which has helped a great deal.
Keep coming and sharing as we all get the food issue....this march I will have 5 years smoke free, and this march I will have lost all the cigarette weight(5 pounds to go) and some of the baby weight .
Good luck,,,,,chew gum

Thanks for the replies Kendra and Lucy :)
Lucy: Congrats on over four years smoke free and your weight loss! I actually have been chewing a lot of gum just recently and it is helping.
