Hello! I'm a new member. After a lot of research I have decided to dive into the hcg diet. When I read other blogs they talk about phase 2, 3, and 4. I guess I'm a little fuzzy on 4, I thought you kind of just returned to 2 for starters. My other question of course is does it work and has anyone out there been on prescription medications while on the diet?
I am on levothyroid. topamax, & effexor XR and these are not optional. Has anyone out there had adverse effects with drug interactions, severe headaches while on the diet. Any unpleasant side-effects of the diet? Dizziness? Nausea?
I've got about 55 pounds to lose and I am ready to make the commitment. But I don't want this to be a joke. Trudeau came across as a bit of a flake, I could only thunb through his book. (I don't trust people who find a conspiracy lurking in every corner). But I have read Dr. Simeon's manuscript 3 times and find his work fascinating! Thanks!

Thank you so much for your response! I decided to order the hcg. It should be arriving any day. Have you been hungry? Did you do a colon cleanse before you started? Are you exercising during the program? Sorry I am bombing you with so many questions. You must be so jazzed! Are you going for a 4 week or 6 week run? Hope to hear from you Kristen!

yeah, I'm totally jazzed! Yes, I also started exercising (mostly to get it in my system so I continue exercising once the diet ends). I am only doing a 4 week run. My doctor only recommends 4 weeks at a time for some reason. I was having pretty serious cravings week one, but noticed that they've died down this week. I am not hungry really at all. The meals are larger then you probably think they will be. I get hungry about an hour before dinner and an hour before lunch, but after eating am perfectly satisfied. i believe its all in your head. If you can train your brain and be committed to this, I think anyone can do it. I am doing the diet with 3 friends. One guy started well over 300 lbs. Imagine 500 calories for him! He's doing it just fine and is still power lifting during the diet. He has lost 24 lbs in 2 1/2 weeks. He's hoping to hit the 30+ mark and plans to do the diet again after his maintenance. Good luck! How much does it cost online? I did it through a doctor in Arizona. My hormone is not injectable though, its under the tongue. My doctor says it is the same thing.

| I'm sure your doctor just wants to be sure you don't develop a tolerance to the hcg. The only way to extend it to 6-weeks is to take one day off from administration every week. Did you read Dr. Simeon's paper? Sublingual delivery of hcg twice a day versus subcutaneous injection of hcg once a day is essentially the same. You may experience more of peak and drop of with the sublingual administration since administration i the subcutaneous or intramuscular tissues would be delivered more evenly over time. The injections are only available from europe. Mine are coming from the top rated company on-line for that stuff. Shipping was $30, the price for 3, 6-week runs $68.99. Another recommended site sold the necessary syringes, dilutions, directions for use etc, for about $70 incl. shipping. It is so cool you have friends to diet with. I am completely jealous ( in a nice way)! I can't wait for my hcg to arrive. Please keep me posted on your progress! Lisa

I started three weeks ago and lost 10 lbs. I'm on the sublingual. Haven't had any yearnings for starches or sweets at all, but yesterday I overdid it with sashimi, cucumbers and lovely tofu. (Protein cravings galore!) Today, I craved and ate bakenets. Gee, I felt so greasy inside. So, I countered with a peach and an apple. So, I am off. What do I do now? Do I resume the hcg and go back to 500 calories, stop the hcg (for how long?) or what? Any ideas? I'm paying $300 a month for the meds, phentermine and sennacot.

| Flo, you must immediately get back on track from everything I've read. Remember your ultimate goal is to shed that 3rd type of fat and reset your hypothalamus. This diet isn't forever, but you must put this mistake behind you and proceed with vigilance! Keep your eye on your goal. Have you read Dr. Simeon's Protocol? You might go through that for a little inspiration. Next time you feel tempted drink some tea instead. You can do this!

Flo,
Eat nothing but 5 apples. restart the HCG immediately. It is probably still in your system. You have to stay focused, (I know sushi is one of my cravings for sure....) but any little slip (even a lick of a spoon) can throw things off for days. Get back on board. You can do it!

You can get HCG, the supplies and all the information that you need at <LINK REMOVED - PLEASE READ POSTING GUIDELINES>. Check out the before and after videos to see if it works. How's over 100lbs lost in under 6 months? I would say that it works.

Hi Everyone,
I'm a new memeber - just came across the site today and have a few questions about the HCG Protocol when it comes to prescription medications and the effect that it has on the diet. Has anyone known of people on anti-inflamatories, anti-depressants or muscle relaxers that have been on the diet without them interfering? I'm meeting with a lady next week to pick up my HCG and just want to make sure that I give it the best chance.

Hi Lisa,
My name is Zoe and I recently came across your blog in a Diet & Weight Loss Forum talking about the HCG Diet. Did you try it? How did it go? I'd like to hear of your experience. I am also looking for someone who has tried it while being on depression meds. Do you know of anyone? I'd like to hear how it worked for them as well. I hope that I hear from you soon. Thanks.

Hi Zoe,
I've lost 85lbs in 6 months on HCg with a doctor. I'm on the third day of my third cycle, which I ordered online. I take Ativan, an anti-anxiety med, and it's had no effect. The good thing is, HCg normalizes the hormones in the body and can eliminate many depression symptoms. I see a Naturopathic MD. He weened me off my prozac, which I was on for over 5 years, and now I take b-12 injections/tryptophan daily. I feel amazing. I would recommend seeing a doctor for your first round and not just buy it on the internet. Every medication is different, and every person's chemistry is different.
Good luck,
Alicia

Hi Alicia,
Oh My Gosh, thank you so much for your input!!! Your success is so amazing. What an inspiration you are going to be for me. I have been on it for 7 days and I have lost 8 pounds. I just have to tell you what amazes me the most; it's my energy. I haven't had to take a nap in a week, even after waking up after only 5-6 hours sleep (I usually would need no less than 8-10 hours a day - even though the hours may not have been consecutive, having to take a nap after getting kids off to school still used up a good part of my day). Also, I have had very, very minimal hunger pains (mainly because it's been time for dinner and I've been too busy doing other things). I have had no cravings, no drooling over chocolate or sweets (which is a big one for me because I've always had such a sweet tooth). I'm hoping to do "2 Rounds". Since you have done multiple rounds I have a couple questions; how long did you wait in between before starting up again? And also, what was your doctors reaction to trying something that is supposed to be so "hush, hush"? It seems to me to be the HEALTHIEST diet I have ever been on and I can only hope that my success can be as good as yours. Keep it up and thanks again for your input.

Hi Zoe,
My doctor is the one who suggested I try HCg. I had never heard of it before. My doctor's a naturopath, while he believes there is a time and place for prescription meds, he provides the option of doing things holistically. He did it himself and lost 100lbs. I agree, the energy level is amazing. I suffer from anxiety and depression, so I know what it feels like to drag yourself out of bed. There are a few other perks I've experienced, including my psoriasis goes into remission whenever I'm on it. Be careful regarding birth control, HCg makes people very fertile (men and women). My husband and I take special precautions when I'm in the middle of a round. To answer your question, you need to wait 6 weeks after the first round before you start a second. If you need to do a third you need to weight 8 weeks. Immediately following the diet, make sure you don't introduce carbs or sugar. You can gain it back VERY quickly. I slipped once and gained 5lbs in 2 days. And then in the 3 weeks following that, slowly introduce carbs, do not just jump in. Try eating something and check your weight the next morning. If your weight goes up at all, do not eat carbs that day. Another thing I noticed is that my weight loss stops on the diet if I eat and artificial sweetner. My brother-in-law experienced the same thing. I've got loads of advise, but I don't want to overwhelm you now. Just take it one day at time and keep me posted. I'm up to 8lbs lost on this round and I'm on day 5. Keep up the great work!

Just thought I'd let everyone know that I've been on the HCG for 10 days and have lost 11 pounds. Easiest diet I've ever tried.

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) is a hormone that is typically produced in a pregnant woman's placenta. It helps to maintain the corpus luteum, which produces progesterone and estrogen in order to maintain the first trimester of pregnancy. hCG works to increase the number of eggs that are released from your follicles every month. It imitates luteinizing hormone (LH), causing your follicles to rupture and release eggs. It often causes your ovaries to release more eggs than normal, thereby increasing your chances of becoming pregnant.

Hello! I have done this diet twice now. The first time I lost 17 pounds, but the second time I lost 30. I had a dr. both times. My second time was easier because I got a book to follow. It has recipes and a journal and tons of info. If anyone's interested it's called My Weight is Over, and its available on 10weekchallenge.com. I'm a 48 yr old male, and i've kept off 45 of the 47 pounds I've lost.
I did the actual shots from a doctor, not the drops, because those are mostly a scam.
My mother also did the diet, but at first had a really hard time losing, and we think it's because she's diabetic, so we changed her daily intake from 2 fruits to one fruit, and added one veggie, then her daily weight loss doubled. I encourage everyone willing to go on a mission for just one month, to try the hcg diet. Yes, it works, if you follow the plan (get that journal, too), and get REAL hcg.Last edited on 19 March 2010 08:14 am by

I'm so glad to find this forum! I was also interested in results using required medications-such as antidepressants, Synthroid, and cholesterol meds. I thought I read in the Protocol that you are to take NOTHING, and this is not possible for me to do. It also said no facial creams, so I guess I will have to see how that goes.
For those of you who are using the drops and have had good results, could you please post the ingredients and what is written on your label including the strength? I bought some on amazon and since people are saying that some of it is a scam, I wanted to see if I had the same stuff as you.
I am starting tomorrow.
Does anyone know if you can give blood while on hcg?
I need to lose about 30 pounds, so this sounds perfect.
ETA: Ladies who have lost, where do you seem to be losing? The writings make it sound like most will come from abdomen and hip area. This would be wonderful for me!

Hi all
Found this site after googling, I ordered sub lingual HCG. a friend referred me to the diet and pretty much broke me down to what she did, even though she had moments she 'fudged' she still lost at least a pound a day. The diet seems pretty easy to me because of the vegetables and chicken. I was wondering by reading you guys posts, how well it really worked with the end results. I have heard so many controversies that it is a 'fad' ect... but I do still plan to start it
I wanted to get you guys imput on recipes you used to help make the diet easier and what you did didnt do during and how much you ended up losing! I plan to go shopping for everything Jan 2! and this board seems to be great for support!

| Hello there! This diet seems amazing and I really want to try it. But I'm curious.. is there a daily meal plan or is it just a 500 calorie limit? Also can you use lotions and face wash and stuff?

I tried HCG and it was VERY difficult. At only 500 calories a day, I felt very light headed and had difficulty concentrating. Several times I felt faint enough that I had to sit for awhile. I had hoped to lose 40 lbs but don't seem to be able to tolerate the drastic reduction in calories.
After I had difficulty, I did some research and found several articles that warned about the 500 calorie limit so please do your research carefully.

I actually tried it, I was successful with the 500 calories...it was about spacing the meals..it actually took some tweaking on my part... I did go from a size 18 jeans to size 15... so I wanted to report it...
I had to step off the HCG for a time because of my health and needing some things done... but for those of you worried I was told by my Dr you need to find your base metabolic rate (ie what you burn just lying in bed) you can go from there with the calories...and safely go to 1k SAFELY...
I have Blood sugar issues because of this I have to CAREFULLY watch the first week was my service dog monitoring my blood sugar...I added 2 extra melba toasts... AND I did a tbls of apple cider vinegar in my first dose of water...then nonstop green tea with stevia..after my health resolutions I plan to do the HCG again.....
things i noticed
weight loss and inches in waist and butt (Jeans showed it)
reduction of cellulite (contributed to the vinegar)

| I am on day 5 and I have struggled with nausea and upset stomach. I couldn't even eat on day 3 after having 1/2 of an apple at lunch. Also had a headache the first 3 days. I am feeling better today. No appetite at all. I am taking Detoxatrim with it which has been great. It does a detox and curb cravings. I have lost about 4lbs. but nothing this morning. May not be eating enough. I had heard nausea was a side effect especially if you had morning sickness while pregnant. Anyone else hear this?

Did you read the book titled HCG Weight Loss Cure Guide by Linda Prinster?
This book is a must-read if you're going to do this diet. My doctor won't even put me on the diet unless I read it first.
The book prescribes"gorging" high-calorie, high-fat foods during the first two days you take the HCG. To paraphrase, this puts into your system enough nutrition to ease into the 500 calorie diet. The extra fat from those 2 days doesn't become permanent fat because you are on the HCG, so you don't have to worry about it interferring with your weight loss. If you didn't do this "gorge" part of the diet, then that's perhaps the reason for having such a rough beginning.
I hope this is helpful.

| I just started this diet yesterday. I do feel encouraged after reading these posts. There is a lot of information out there that bocks at this diet, so I hope it works. I am a little concerned about using mineral oil on my skin and also think it is weird that I can only wear certain masscaras. Also, after doing my HCG injection today, I felt nauseated. I have about 28 lbs to loose. I hope I don't gain it back.

I've been on this diet for a week now (the injections with a doctor) and its EXTREMELY difficult. My doctor did say that it would be because I don't have alot to lose- Goal weight is 110 at 5'5. The most difficult part is the weakness. I'm extremely weak and shaky and its very difficult to go about my day like normal (I have to walk 2miles a day around town). I've also been having nausea after meals, part of this may be that I am on several medications and usually have more to eat with them.
I've lost 5 lbs in 3 days once I finished the loading phase and started the diet. The weight loss is very encouraging but it is extremely difficult, I'm exhausted, weak and shaky, depressed, irratible and I have cravings like crazy! This may be an easier diet if you start out at a high weight but if you are a normal weight and just want to look better then don't think it will be easy like it is for everyone else.Last edited on 13 July 2011 06:36 pm by lexylaye

I've now decided that I'm going off the HCG, after feeling terrible for 4 days, exhaustion, nausea, shaking, depression, irratability, then last night because too nauseous and exhausted to even eat my second meal of the day. And then this morning (day 5 of phase 2) I could barely walk up the stairs at my house so I decided I needed an actual meal and had a peanut butter sandwich. I now can't quit throwing up and am extremely sick and still exhausted.
I have done a low calorie diet before without HCG, 300-800cals perday and never experienced symtoms like this. I haven't even felt this bad doing a water fast and I have gone up to 7 days before with no food or juice, just water and green tea.
Not everyone can handle the HCG aparently, hopefully this leaves my system quickly. I will just be losing this the old fashioned way with diet and exercise.

Best luck on your new plan. Today is my first day of the 500 a day calorie intake, so far so good.

Hey Ladies!
My doctor recommended the HCG diet for me and I have done a lot of research and I am stoked! However, for health reasons I can not take birth control, do any of you know from personal experience if it makes a woman more fertile? Im 21 and NOT looking to have a child any time soon and that is really my only concern. The Doctor also mentioned that i would have an increase in energy and generally it helps your mood. Has anyone noticed these things?

The drops are NOT a scam. If you check other forums where the hcg users are taking the drops, you will see this. I am currently using the drops, and I can personally vouch for the fact that they DO WORK. I am on my 5th day of the hcg diet, Dr. Simeon's protocol, and I have already lost 8.5 lbs without exercising. The drops I take only cost $17 a bottle, shipping included. I bought them from Amazon.com.
I agree with Calalily4, everyone is different, so you have to find out what works for you. But this is to let eveyone know that you don't have to take injections, and you don't need a doctor's supervision.
The drops DO WORK.
I am also taking B-12 sublingual drops and drinking half my weight in water everyday. This might help those suffering from weakness and low energy.
Good Luck to everyone on the diet!

Hi Everyone.
I have a question on the HCG diet. would it work just the same if you just ate 500 calories a day and didn't have the drops??
Everyone keeps saying it doesn't really work, it only works as you are only having 500 calories a day and that's the reason you lose weight nothing to do with the drops.
Help I'm so confused, I want to try it but don't want to get ripped off.
Hope to hear from everyone soon:)
Thank you
Lindz

| I know nothing about the HCG diet, or these drops or anything regarding this diet, but I know 1 thing that the body needs a caloric deficit to burn fat. Whether it be from reduction of food, or a combo of reduction of food plus exercise, as long as you produce a deficit, you will lose the fat. There is no magic pill, there is no special formula. Its hard work 1 way or another. You do not need any special drops to lose weight. Just eat less calories then your body burns naturally, or do a combo of both eating less than your body burns AND burning extra calories with exercise. Do this, save your money and buy a new wardrobe.

| If you only eat 500 calories a day of course you are going to lose weight! You are also going to lose muscle and miss out on vital nutrients that your body needs. There is no easy fix like HCG drops to lose weight. Maybe it will work in the short term but what about once you stop doing it? You still have to learn to eat a healty balanced diet and move your body.

| Agree with Michelle, but you will not lose muscle eating 500 calories. Maybe if you're crazy lean to begin with AND doing a very intense exercise program for an extended period of time, it would be possible. But since you are asking about drops, I'd assume that is not the case. Please people, get the low cal = lose muscle concept out of your heads!!!

| No muscle loss if eating only 500 calories per day? I'll go read up on this some more, thanks.
