Hi, I've just joined this site after being frustrated on extrapounds.com - NOBODY'S AROUND THERE! This seems a pretty active site though, so here's hoping.

I'm a Brit living in NYC - so much pizza, so little space left in my waistbands...

I've done the usual losing/gaining thing - 20 lbs being the biggest loss to date. But then I get all complacent and cocky that I can get back into my skinny jeans and things just slide, just before I hit my ultimate goal. :dizzy:

I'm SOOO sick of dieting, though, that I am absolutely adamant that this should be the last time to put myself through this.

I'm happy to talk to anyone, but I'm really interested in any people who share my credentials: 5ft 3in, 156lbs, want to lose 30lbs, who are willing to compare notes and share progress. (I'll spill my measurements at a later time; introductions first -)

Hope you're all doing well.

hi sweet. im mell. im an inch smaller than you and deffinately heavier. i used to be 160 pounds. i lost 6 pounds in one month.

ive tried diet pills before and they didnt really work, and there's a lot of side effects.

what i did, i started doing cardio exercises everyday, about 90 to 120 minutes a day.
no food restrictions. i still eat the same thing i used to eat. fatty foods, beer sweets, ect. i just gave up midnight snacks and used artificial sweetener for my coffee.

my goal was to lose 4 pounds in one month. i lost 6.
try to set a realistic goal, and dont try to lose a lot of weight in a short period of time. do it slowly. it is hard but very rewarding. my plan is to lose 5 pounds this september, and start eating healtheir foods. :)

godd luck sweety. :)

:coffee:Hi I'm an American living in Scotland. I've been lurking around this site for months getting inspiration from all the motivated people on this forum (mostly the FL4I general discussion) so I hope after 2 successful cycles of FL4I, I can provide some inspiration too. I'm 5' 3" and have about 15 pounds to lose or about 1 stone.

I lost 11 pounds on my first cycle and gained them back after having family over from America. I wanted to be able to take them out to restaurants and couldn't resist eating for scotland. I just completed my second cycle yesterday and lost 8 pounds. I'm starting again on monday after my 3 day cheat. I find FL4I fantastic.

Will post more on the FL4I general discussion forum.

See you all there.!!

Hi Sparkelmum, great to hear about your success with FL4I (I had to look up what that meant! ). It sounds like a great system. I might look into it myself. Is it as easy as all the reviews and forums seem to say?

I have about a stone to lose as well (ah, it's so good to use brit terms!), although a little more wouldn't hurt - I won't be wasting away any time soon...

This has been my first week on Ian smith's Fat Smash Diet. The first day is BRUTAL, but it gets a little easier after that. I've lost 5lbs! However, I don't know if I can sustain it, as it is quite tough. That's why I might look into the Fat Loss for idiots. I'm intrigued by this "calorie shifting".

Keep it up!

i have read a lot of good reviews about this diet too, but im not really impressed coz they dont really encourage people to work out. i still believe that working out is still the best along with a proper diet. and isnt it healthier to lose slowly, a maximum of 2 pounds a week? from what i read, if u lose that mount of weight in a short span of time, you just lost mainly water weight.

but thats just my opinion. im a strong believer of losing weight slowly trough proper dieting and proper work out.

but, i hope this kind of diet will work out for you guys. good luck to both of you. :)

:coffee: Hi vb1402- I've not heard of the Fat Smash Diet. Will look it up and see how it compares. Fat Loss For Idiots is a diet where you eat mostly lean protein, fish, fruit, veg, eggs, cheese, nuts and some beans and drink lots of water. So in some respects its healthy as your not eating salty surgery processed foods. There is a vegetarian version too. You get to choose the foods you like from a list and the diet generator prints out a plan shifting calories around. You can keep choosing foods from the list and generating diets until you find one your happy with. Its a one time charge and you can keep generating diet plans forever.

There are two plans on FL4I one is called Beyond Calories and then the diet generator. You don't have to purchase both, but I would recommend it as you can't go back and buy it later. Beyond calories is less restrictive and does involve some exercise. The generator is more restrictive and there is a fruit day which a lot of people find difficult but you know if you follow it you will get results. Go on to the forum page on this site and scroll down to diet plans. There you will find FL4I general discussion and there are lots of great people and ideas! See you there.

Hi byte_me. Yes I agree, a 2 pound a week diet and exercise plan is probably the right way to go, however, I need a more regimented plan as I have done the slower way and lose the 2 pounds a week, but once the weekend comes around its wine, crisps, oh what the heck a handful of nuts, fancy a curry- why not- and before you know it i've put the 2 pounds back on plus one. When I reach my goal I will probably revert to a less restrictive plan and add some exercise. Good Luck with your weight loss

Hi Guys,

I'm 5ft. 1 inc. and sitting at 167 lbs.  UGH!  I think I'm going to give up on "diets" cause that's just how I've ended up at the current weight.  The big YO-YO.  I'm taking the suggestion of others, and diving into exercise.  I'm certain it will be an entire shift of mindset once I'm into the routine.  After 2 weeks I've lost 3 lbs. and really starting to look forward to the exercises and even craving healthier foods.  There's some freedom in knowing I'm not restricted to a diet.  I don't feel guilty or deprived.  I'm finding that I'm starting to make better choices and eating less of the bad stuff.  Funny how much you want what you can't have, then when you can have it- you don't really want it anymore.  Good luck to all of you!

Thanks, Sparklemum, for the info - I'm definitely going to look into your system. I have read many good things about it, and I really like the idea of keeping your metabolism guessing.

The plan I'm trying is by the nutritional expert on Celebrity Fit Club (didn't buy it for that purpose, but he always seems quite sensible). As i said, the very first day is pretty tough, but it does get easier after that. I'm now on the second cycle and it's definitely more tolerable. What I also like about it is that he caters for different "dieter types", i.e. if you cheat and still lose, if you stick to the letter and don't lose as much etc etc and gives options to address this.

Yes, Byte Me, no doubt some, if not all, of my loss is water weight, but I've done the Fat Smash plan before and I continued to have a steady weight loss, of roughly 2 lbs, after that initial week. It also advocates drinking a ton of water and regular exercise, sometimes 2 sessions a day.

Shannon, good on you girl! I exercise regularly every week, too - spin mostly, but I walk 3 dogs every day for a good 2-3 hours. I think you're absolutely right about different mindset. We put far too many restrictions on ourselves, and then we feel deprived, making us want those goodies even more. Have you ever seen Paul McKenna, the hypnotist? He did a show recently about weight loss, saying that we should eat what we want not what we think we should, but just stop eating when we feel satisfied. If only it were that easy . . . for me, eating has never necessarily been about eating to satisfy hunger, but because I like food.

Anyway, let's all keep up the good work. It's good to talk and compare our experiences. I'm off to have a grapefruit - they're my new chocolate! LOVE 'EM!

Hi Shannon. Welcome. Sounds like your very motivated. Keep up the good work!!

vb1402- Read up on you diet also. Sounds similar, but FL4I sounds less regimented. Both mention to stop eating before your full and includes at least 4 meals per day.

Good Luck to you!!

I start back on tomorrow.
