Hi,  I am new to this forum.  Just wanting to share the up and downs of weight control with others.

I have a long history of gaining and losing weight. But, in the last four years I have manage to get down to below my expectations. Which is great, but didn't come easily.

Also, am looking forward to talking with others about health issue related to dieting. The last year, I have had thyroid problems and cholesterol problems that have affected my weight a great deal.

So, with all that being said, I am glad to be here.

Bye

One of my primary concerns is cholesterol, too, which is why I stick to the Eat to Live diet (see Products link) as closely as I can.

Welcome!

I will have to check that out. I eat allot of stuff to help my cholesterol and take allot or vitamins. Some of the things I do is eat cheerios with ground flax seed. I snack on walnuts and eat allot of fish. I try to only eat red meat twice a week. I do take vitamin supplements like fish oil, red rice extract, garlic, etc. I got my cholesterol down 35 points in a three month period just changing what I ate. I was so glad, me and cholesterol medicine, did not go well together.

I got my cholesterol down over 100 points in 9 weeks on ETL! It allows animal products, but encourages very little.

That time I only had chicken or fish three or four times a week, and I don't think any dairy. It was either that, or go on cholesterol lowering meds. I chose the healthy food way.

Then I didn't do so well again for some time, and put on my on-again off-again 20 pounds. Now with three weight loss challenges in a row I'm getting to goal weight, at which time I'll work harder on the cholesterol again.

Right now having chicken or fish and dairy, like a yogurt with lunch or a cheese and cracker snack.

About your cheerios with ground flax seed... please read through the topic Is Oatmeal Good for You?. It's a kick!

Oh thanks, I will read it. And congrats on the cholesterol thing. I really struggle staying away from red meats....I like my hot dogs and hamburger way to much. Cheese is also a huge problem for me (imagine that living in Wisconsin, lol).  Thanks again...off to read the oatmeal thing...bye
