Hello!

New to the forum and desperate. I have gained so much weight the last couple of years and health problems galore-goiter, hyperthyroidism, psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, bursitis, gerd and so many other things going on they can't seem to figure out. I'm on beta blockers, anti-thyroid meds (of course I didn't lose weight like most people with hyperthyroidism-I gained), anti-inflammatory meds, methotrexate injections, toradol (as needed), each specialist only wants to focus on each problem (rheumatologist focuses on arthritis, endo focuses on thyroid, gm just doesn't care and tries to do the opposite of the specialists-none of them want to look at the big picture-on and on and on. I am desperate-I am so tired and in so much pain all the time. I know I would feel better if I could lose weight, but I am getting older (still only 42) and hurt so bad and I know some of the meds I am on are contributing to the weight gain. I have a physically and mentally demanding job and it is all I can do just to make it through the day anymore. What can I do? I'm sorry this is so long-I'm just to the breaking point and don't know where to turn anymore so I though maybe if I could find someone to talk with online I could get some of this off my chest and feel better. Any ideas? A lot of exercise is completely out of the question. I could probably swim, but no pool around that I could use regularly. I actually feel fortunate (I know it doesn't sound like it, haha), but I realize I have it good compared to some. I have been using the Lucalean body wraps on my belly and thighs for the last couple of weeks and have lost about 4" off my gut so far and about an inch off each thigh so I am somewhat encouraged and feeling a "little" better but still so far to go! What is the best way to go for low impact and fast results? Any advice would be so greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!

Hi, although it seems your questions ask for hints on exercise, the best thing you can do for yourself is to straighten out your diet, several of your conditions relate to what you eat and are potentially "reversible".

I would recommend you read a book called "Eat To Live" by Dr Joel Fuhrman. He is an expert at using the healthiest (most "nutrient dense" foods) to restore health and "reverse" diseases (including auto-immune diseases), even to the point of reducing some of the medications(!).

In addition to his basic recommendations (which are summarised in a handy graphic below) and also textually here: http://fatfreevegan.com/blog/2010/01/01/eat-to-live-6-week-plan/

His website ( http://www.drfuhrman.com ) has newsletters and when joining the mailing list you can download one newsletter free of charge, so if you believe one of your medical conditions will make it impossible to follow the diet recommendations as stated, download the most relevant-looking newsletter to see if he has made a specific condition-related customisation for it.
