What tactics are we doing to lose weight?

So I myself try to watch what I eat, but it's not working so well.  What are YOU doing to help lose weight?  Is it the exercise that does it?  Certain foods?  Random luckiness?  I am stuck and can't afford good food right now, nor a gym membership.  My first weigh in is in a couple of days, and I will admit that I am scared.....thanks for any help : )

HI Sunny, everyone is different but I am a believer in counting calories. I track everything I eat and limit the calories. There are tons of free on line calculators to help you determine how many calories you need a day. There is a good one on freedieting.com but there are a lot of different ones. I determined how many a need a day and try and stay within that amount. If I exercise, I find out, again lots of free calculators on line that will tell you how many calories you burn doing any type of exercise then, I then add them to my daily amount or not; sometimes I don't count them at all and just figure that is a bonus for my weight loss. Anyway bottom line for me is burning more calories than I eat. It keeps it pretty simple that way. Good luck, you will find lots of help on this site. We use a lot of different methods but that's the beauty, you find something that works for you.

Same with Hiker. I do count on the calories intake I have for a day. And I have been in a program that helps me get through a lot of food binge.

I am in maintenance now. And it did change my life and my personal attitude.

So Im a scale addict also, and do precise calories intake and exercise. Do a lot of walking and swimming.

You, how it did go? What are the things that help or get you started to lose weight?
