It's almost time for the next challenge, everyone!

Here are the guidelines for the Halloween weight loss challenge (similar to those of the previous ones):

  1. The challenge will run from Tuesday September 1st through Saturday 31st October

  2. You may join the challenge at any time beginning September 1st, and late-comers are most welcome. You can even join the challenge in October.

  3. To join the challenge, post your height, starting weight and goal weight.

You may choose any goal you like. But if your goal is to lose more than 18 pounds during the challenge period -- more than two pounds a week -- please explain why you think your goal is realistic.

This website is dedicate to healthy, common sense, lasting weight loss, and does not support crash diets which do not have realistic expectations of producing long-term results.

For more information, please see the Tutorial and the forum topic The Most Likely Reason Your Diet Will Fail.

Your height will be used to display your BMI. Disclosing your height is optional but as incentive to share your height with us, unless told your height I'll just assume you are 5' (1.52m).

  4. Pick a day for your weekly weigh-in, and stick to it a closely as you can. Then post your current weight each week -- or as often as you would like!

You may wish to read:  How Often Should You Weigh Yourself

Those who are not losing weight, and those who are gaining, will receive praise for continuing to participate. It's so easy to run and hide! We've all been there ourselves.

We also know that by participating, they are very likely doing better than they otherwise would be.

  5. The results will be updated every Saturday (or more often) and posted right here just below these instructions, so they will always be easy to find.

We want the challenge stats to be realistic and reflect active challenge members, so anyone not posting for two consecutive weeks will be dropped from the list. But they will be put right back on the next week should they post again.

If you need to withdraw from the challenge, please have the courtesy to post a farewell note or send me a Private Message (PM). Your name will be removed.

  6. You are encouraged to share how you are doing during the challenge, and especially to give each other support. However, to make it easier for me to find your weekly weight, please make sure your weight stands out.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to post them or send me a PM.

Wishing you success and happiness!

Nir

Count me in.

Height = 5'8"  (68 inches)

Current weight = 166

Goal weight = 154

Weigh in day will be Friday.

I'm shooting for a 12 pound loss in this next challenge.  The challenge will run approximately 8.5 weeks which means I will have to work 1.5 pounds off each week.  I'm totally up for it!  Thanks for the challenge.

I lost my chance to be the first to join the challenge... At the beginning of July I was still eating 1800 calories, after 6 successive increases my intake currently stands at 2100 calories. Surprisingly (well it surprised me) I lost 5.5lb during this period. My unadjusted RMR (Male, 36.5, 1.65m, 51.5kg) is 1369 and if I assume my typical exercise (average about 90 minutes a day) puts me as 'Moderately Active' then my current intake is at maintenance level. I might yet increase calories if I feel I need more energy for my workouts or (and this is increasingly unlikely) I lose more weight. I do have a longer-term goal of putting on some muscle and re-gaining strength as am not at peak strength.

With this preamble out of the way:

Height: 1.65m = 5'5"

Current Weight: 51.5kg = 113.4lb (BMI 18.9)

Goal Weight: 51kg = 112.3lb (BMI 18.7) (yes, just 1lb in 2 months)

The challenge ends on Saturday so I will weigh in on Saturdays. Well it makes sense to me, anyhow.

Hey guys! And thanks for running another Challenge! I would ask for some help on my goal. I believe i was able to maintain a 4.5lb a week loss during the last one. I know that my weight loss should slow down as i get closer to my goal weight, so im wonder what a fair goal is that will keep me working hard, but will also be obtainable.

Facts:

Height - 6'3" (75 inches)

Weight -  328 lbs

Weighing in on Thursday

I think a goal of 3.25lbs might be good for me. If anyone has a good reason thats too low/high let me know! Taking Michelle's numbers of 8.5 weeks for this challenge puts me at a goal of 26lbs. But I'm feeling :rabbit:frisky:rabbit:, lets see if i can't break into the 200s and out of the 300s by the end of this challenge...So I'm making my goal 28.1lbs!

On a side note, post often guys! I love hearing about your day to day struggles and accomplishments. It keeps me motivated to do well myself. This website has helped me stay focused more than I ever thought it could. About 1/2 way through this challenge I should dip into the obese BMI and not Morbidly obese!!!! LETS DO THIS! Is anyone as charged up as i am? lol

I'm in!

Height: 5'5"

Current weight: 162

Goal weight: I'm going to shoot high and try to break out of the 150s so... 148

weigh in day will be Monday (I already hate mondays, this is the best day for it haha)

It's a 14 pound loss but I've recently begun settling into a very workable exercise routine which will really facilitate my loss, and besides the higher the goal the harder I work.  I haven't been out of the 150s for some time-- I stopped weighing myself last fall so I don't know, but I was in the low 140s in the summer, just starting to break into the 130s, and then in the winter i was 166 (which is such an embarassing gain-- I'll just say that we had more money and ate out a LOT with no regard to portions).  If I could achieve this, I could fit into my old clothes just in time for cold weather (now we have less money, and I can't afford anything new and bigger-- oh no!).

Many years ago I was morbidly obese per my BMI, then just obese and now I'm only overweight and inching my way closer and closer to normal.  It is a thrill getting to each new level.    I have been on a stall for the past month and I am ready to pick up the pace and push myself harder than ever. I am totally charged up for this new challenge.   I'm not sure if you know it but there is a forum on her where you can post your own diary/journal entries.  I've read a lot of other people's diaries and there is a lot of inspiration to be found in them.    I wish you all the best in this new challenge.   MichelleHey guys! I have a feeling I'm going to end up heavier than I started, but I'll try anyway! (I usually start heading back up every time I reach 112lbs).

And Halloween is spelt with two l's.

I wonder what I'll give out for Halloween.. It might be tempting to have boxes of chocolate lying around...

Hey Clagger, when I started back in May 13, I was 315. Exactly two months later, I was 282. I don't think I was anywhere near as disciplined as you when it came to eating and working out. So I'm guessing you will lose much more than I did and I lost 33 pounds. So I'm pretty sure we'll be welcoming you into the under 300 club in about 6 weeks.

Thanks Nir!

Height: 5'2"

Current weight: 132.2

Goal weight: 121.2

That goal has me losing 1% of my body weight per week, in theory very do-able as long as I stay on track!

First of all just want to thank you for starting another challenge. I think I have lost over ten pounds since joining these challenges, after months of maintaining! They really do help me :)

:clover::rainbow:Good Luck everyone!:rainbow::clover:

Stats:

Height: 65.5in

Weight: 117.3lb bmi 19.2

End of challenge GW: 113.3lb bmi 18.6

I have entered the bmi myself because the half of inch to my height does make a difference to my bmi lol.

I will weigh in at least once a week, however sometimes twice a week. I cannot dedicate myself to a day as I am not always home, but I will definately weigh in every week.

Arghhh today I weigh 52.0kg (114.5lb) so I'm changing my starting weight to that and so my goal loss will be 2lb.

I've been trying to figure out how to join this challenge with the goal of an actual 2 lb loss.   I could probably just not drink any water all day and make the goal overnight.  And I don't much like using the average for the week because one day overloading on salt would require several super low days to balance it out.   So....

If it's OK with you, I'm going to report my lowest weight during the week, including the start weight.   For the last 7 days the high was 122.0 and the low was 120.5 (new digital scales).

Height: 5'5" (65 in)
Start weight: 120.5

Goal weight:
118.5
Weigh in day: Wednesday

If I don't make it, hopefully, I'll at least maintain the 120.5.   Thanks, Nir

Hi everyone, thanks for running another Challenge. I missed the last weigh in on the last challenge, though Im sure it wasn't anything worth shouting about anyway.

I have weighed this morning and my stats are as follows:

Height: 5'4"
Current Weight: 245lbs
Target Weight: 231lbs
Weigh in day: Thursday

So my target is to lose a stone (14lbs). I have no idea what my average has been over the last couple of challenges, but I am sure it is negligable. However, I have a sticking weight that I seem to settle at and that has moved from 255lbs to 245lbs. So I have achieved something!

My goal is ambitious and I won't be too disheartened if I don't achieve it. However, I am going away with work to an international conference in November and there will be a lot of people there who haven't seen me for a couple of years and I would like to be somewhere near the size I was back then, rather than even bigger!!! Also, I am in the process of moving house, so I am painting, laying floors and spring cleaning every evening. Also, I am about to break in my horse, so that will involve lots of walking out and grit and determination! So there is no excuse for not doing well!

Hello,

So I weighed in today and I lost 3lbs. Wooo!!! I am so excited. I am now at: 207

Next week I start school, so it's going to be an adjustment to go to the gym and eat as good as I have been doing. But I just have to plan everything out and try not to overwhelm myself:smile:

For the last few days, I've been eating kinda badly, but I somehow lost weight.:shock:

That was the sort for the 2nd day. I've now sorted it a third way, any guesses?

Yay, I can see the chart again! If Nir hasn't changed anything maybe it is to do with my server blocker at work? Cause I am now logged on at home with the same laptop?!

My weight is 167.6.  I had a lifestyle change this week (new job)  and I did some late night eating which resulted in weight gain.  I'm surprised by this gain because I cut out so many carbs. I have to go right to bed after work and no trips to the kitchen. Onward and forward!
