Nancy_in_GA wrote: Cindy, can you give me an estimate of minutes of cardio for Thursday?

Did all the previous strength exercises plus a couple for shoulders, used 2 lb weights on legs and 2 to 6 lb weights on arms---16 reps.   Only 8 pushups.   Pushups seem to bother my wrist (which I broke 3yrs ago chasing a goat) more than my arms.

Friday, April 17: Cardio: 80 mins; Strength: Yes

OH, give me something like 80mins. It's hard to say when I walk with the kids. I will try and keep better track of the time.

Wow, Hiker---10 miles! That's really amazing.

Lami, isn't a cross trainer the same thing as an elliptical?  So isn't that strength training, at least in arms and legs?

Didn't get any cardio in today.   No excuses.   I've been reading about strength training and I need to do more sets at a time maybe every other day.   So I'm going to start that tomorrow.   And if it doesn't rain, I'll try to walk over to the track and jog.

Yes Nancy, I think it is the same but cross trainer is easier for me to spell!!!

Hiker, 10 miles, that is impressive. (you live up to your name)

I must be doing something right my butt cheeks have been a bit tender since yesterday don't know if it was the running or the flab machine.

Did the same amount of exercise yesterday

5 min walk
30 min run/jog
5 min walk

250 cross trainer
10mins flab machine

I'll get the time sorted on the cross trainer and try to measure my time rather than amount of rotations.

Good morning everyone!

Just wanted to report that today's strength exercise routine was much better.   On legs I did 3 sets, 20/16/12 reps with 3 lb weights.  On arms, 3 sets of 16/12/8 reps with 3 to 6 lb weights, and triceps using the chair lift method.   You're probably thinking that's not much, but all the muscles seem to be quivering right now, so that's a good sign I think.

I tried a different lower abs exercise which seems to work much better than the vertical leg lifts I learned in exercise class.   Put your bottom up on two pillows, tighten stomach and lower back muscles and do a scissors-like motion with legs, touching down to the floor each time.  This one could be easily modified to increase the load, too, by changing leg motions/positions.

I think I'm finally starting to get a decent routine here.

OK, Nancy, I read about this challenge in your journal and you can count me in!  I will start with tomorrow if it would be easiest.  Or, I could go through my journal and figure out this week too.  Let me know which would be easiest.  I am excited as this will motivate me to do the strength training, which I always skip in favor of cardio hehe.

MJ, really glad you're joining!   It's easy to add you in, either way you choose.  Give me the date(s),  minutes of cardio, and just whether you did strength training or not (yes or no type thing).

Hi Nancy, it does sound like you have a good routine going. I am really bad at doing the strengh training. I force myself to do a small amount but believe me it is minimal....just enough to hold off shoulder arthritis. :dizzy:.

Got some decent cardie in today, 45 minute hike with my dogs then I went for a 5 mile walk so for today 95 minutes cardie.

i havent done a real workout today, but spent about 2 hours outside, mowed the lawns, planted some new grass seeds, did covering of that, watered, scooped the horse poo, demolished an old small shelter and moved about 30 cinder blocks from one location to another, walked with each one about 50 feet and I also moved the bedroom around, so that is the dresser, plants, the bowflex machine, for about 30 minutes there.....not sure the calories burned, but i have been active today.

Really down today on a side note, the wt is up even more today, two pds more...not sure what i am going to do now....really discouraged, dont want to eat, just drink water...which i KNOW is not healthy.....son of a nutcracker if i dont know how i got so out of control.....:dizzy:

Hey BJD, don't get too down on yourself...I've been there and am just getting back on the horse, maybe one foot in the stirrup if you will.  You've done tons of exercise today, it doesn't have to be a "work-out" it still counts. And don't worry about a day or two of fluctuations, it is going to happen, you're doing great, just think about the new smaller cloths you have bought and how great you look in them

big hug hiker...thank you for your encouraging words...it helps me alot. :heart:i forgot to enter that i also brushed the horses for about 30 min. I enjoy doing that cuz they snuggle with me around my neck and give me affection..which is a lot to both of us, since they arent really trusting yet...SO,  I also almost just cut my hair, i went to the bathroom and was just gonna grab it on the bottom and chop it off, giving myself a choppy bob. But I didnt. I guess it looks ok and well, we all get split ends....its just nature. When I was standing there, I realized that i got my first sunburn of the season! Its a lovely day today, I am in shorts and a tank top, and well, i got some SUN!:sun::caution:

Turned out that D isnt working tomorrow, and we havent heard a word from my folks, so we are in limbo as to when mj is due back. I hope all is going well for them!!! Thanks also for cheering me on hiker in regards to mj spending time with my parents. I know how important it is now. I see it. I wont try to break the bond they have. Anyway, I am not sure what will be on the workout schedule for tomorrow, but i will post whatever i accomplish! :) (at LEAST i am working out and doing good there!!! )

I'm looking forward to having a full week on the challenge.  I have lots of exercise plans, but honestly I just need to DO it.

4/13 swam laps and water jogged = 30 minutes

4/14 ran 2.25 miles = 25 minutes

4/15 None that I can remember ha~

4/16 Leslie Sansone DVD- 2 miles- 25 minutes; walked ~ 5 miles = 90 minutes TL = 115 minutes

4/17 None

4/18 ran/walked 3.5 miles = 50 minutes

4/19 ran 2.25 miles = 25 minutes; elliptical = 20 minutes TL = 45 mins

Well, I can see I need to work on this strength training thing!  I need to get my stability ball blown up since the last one deflated after an unfortunate incident with the electric baseboard heater... and tomorrow I am also going to look at a friend's treadmill which she is willing to see me for a very good price. The timing of this challenge is perfect~

Wow BJD! That you had a busy day is certainly an understatement. I can picture you moving the concrete blocks.

This evening, 12 min fast walk to the UGA track, 3.5 laps(lane 8, ~1 mile, half jogging, half walking, 16 mins), 12 mins back.

Wore a brand new pair of shoes and they didn't bother me!!! I have a feeling I won't be able to get out of bed tomorrow and I have to go spend the day at the farm mending fences (literally).

If someone would start a spring house cleaning challenge, I would join.

April 19:  Cardio: ~38 mins;  Strength: Yes

Hi Everyone

BJD you've probably done more exercise in the most natural way and it's a good feeling getting things tidied up. Keep going the lbs will eventually even themselves out.

Well today I'm off work and wasn't too rushed

5 min gentle walk building up to brisk pace
31 min (did one minute more) running/jogging
15 mins brisk walk
10 mins flab machine
2 mins cross trainer (I need to improve on this)

Plan to do some weights tonight.

I have a tendency to go MIA on the weekends.  It's just going to get worse as the warm weather approaches.  Here is my weekend round up....

Friday:  Taught a 45 min advanced Pilates class (not sure what that would be considered between cardio and strength)

Saturday:  Took my children to 2 different parks and nature trails....combined time playing and walking....4 hours (I would say I got in a solid 60 mins of cardio I suppose)

Sunday:  Lazy day.... 20 min walk.  (I did get in some cardio with my bf if you know what I mean ....but I don't think that counts. lol)

I'm going to do my workout for today in about 2 hours.  I will post that later in the day.  Happy Monday All.

I went to a stretch and tone class today so I got my strength training in. I also walked and got 45 minutes of cardio in. I have to say I enjoyed the weights a lot more in a class with music and an instructor. I only used 3 lb weights but my shoulders are a little stiff tonight, I guess that shows you how much I need to do them .

HEY EVERYONE! GOT SOME EXERCISE IN TODAY BECAUSE I GOT ON THE SCALE TODAY AND BLAHHHHH I WAS UP ANOTHER PD...THAT TAKES ME BACK TO 172. OMG.:shock: SO, I REEVALUATED MY DIETING PLAN, STUDIED UP ON THE MED'S I AM TAKING AND READ UP ON HOW TO BETTER BATTLE GAINING WT FROM MEDICATIONS....AND REALLY STRUCTURED MY DAY FOOD WISE...AND I DID REALLY WELL, AFTER THE EXERCISE I ENDED UP WITH UNDER 1000. NICE CLEAN MEALS, NO JUNK. ONE DAY DOWN.

AS FOR EXERCISE, D AND I HAD MORE TIME OUTSIDE IN THE YARD, I WATERED FOR ABOUT 1.5 HOURS, WEEDING AND PLANTING 7 TRANSPLANT CACTI FROM OUR OUTER FIELDS THAT TOOK ABOUT 30 MINUTES. TWO HOURS OUTSIDE, LOW CARDIO THERE AND THEN SINCE THE DAY WAS SO NICE WE WENT FOR A WALK, PROB ABOUT 2.5-3 MPH FOR AN HOUR. SO, I TO ADD IT ALL UP REALISTICALLY, I GUESS YOU COULD PUT ME DOWN FOR 1.5 HOURS OF CARDIO TODAY.

THATS IT FOR NOW FRIENDS....WILL REPORT BACK TOMORROW WITH MY AGENDA FOR THEN! MJ IS BACK, THE EXIT OF PARENTS WENT OK, WE DID DISCOVER BY ACCIDENT OF DAD BLABBING THAT THEY HAD MY GRAMMA THERE YESTERDAY...THIS DIDNT PLEASE D TOO MUCH, NOR I WHEN I FOUND OUT. I ASKED THEM FOR NOW, WHEN THEY DO HAVE MJ TO PLEASE FOCUS ON THE TIME BEING WITH HER, NOT GRAMMA. ITS A LONG STORY, BUT IT MAY BE SETTING US BACK IF THEY DONT WANT TO HONOR MY LITTLE REQUEST. WE WILL SEE HOW IT PLAYS OUT. OVERALL, I GUESS IT WAS A GOOD VISIT. I HOPE IT WAS A GOOD VISIT!

Good job Midge.  It gets easier, I think.  I hope...

Spent all afternoon at my mom's putting some insulators on the fence (electric wire to keep out coyotes and dogs). Coyotes like to eat goats and dogs just enjoy chasing them to death. A lot of climbing over the fence and walking, but nothing that would count as strenuous.

Still it was hard to get myself moving tonight. Left house fast walking, at 7:58, 0.5 mile to track, 4 laps in lane 8 (mostly walking, some jogging, just enough to keep heart rate up), back home at 8:45--something over 2 miles. NWIH would I have gone out tonight if not for this challenge.

More walking than jogging tonight because I can feel a little bit of the beginnings of shin splints from yesterday. Should have started off a little slower. Last time I got those I couldn't run for like forever.

WOOHOO.  Did some strength training today.  Don't know why I avoid it so.  I got the new exercise ball blown up- that oughta count for 15 minutes cardio.  Seriously.  No lie.  Have you ever used a hand pump (the bicycle kind) to do that?  Up and down with the pump, so I started doing squats when I pushed down haha.  My son was laughing so hard at me.  He was like Mom. Stop.  Anyway, good time management skills if you ask me.  I also did 20 minutes Leslie Sansone's you can do abs which has a core workout and an upper body workout w/ weights, and then I did 8 minute arms so that was 28 minutes strength.  I am getting on the elliptical in 2 minutes (no really hahaha, as soon as I finish here) and I will do 20 minutes on that to = 35 minutes cardio.  This challenge has really focused me on the exercise, especially that strength training.  You can see from last week's exercise, done before I joined the challenge- I do NO strength training and ALL cardio unless I am challenged...

Hi Nancy, just wanted to say you are so right, if you are feeling the beginning of shin splints bring it down a notch as you are. A few years ago I did a simalar thing with walking and plantar facituis, I wass doing the breast cancer walk and I knew things weren't right but I figured I would get the walk done and then rest...wrong... I ended up setting myself back 2 year :nono:! So you are wise to listen to your body, it is not worth it.

Ok, reporting in.... I did the elliptical last night with one small break. I had full house yesterday and didn't really have a chance to get anything in during the day. But, I only have two little ones this morning. So, I think I might do the wii fit for awhile and then the bike...

Mon. 80mins cardio - no strength

Hiker, I'm glad you brought up plantar fasciitis.   I used to do a lot of walking at my job and had trouble finding shoes that wouldn't kill my feet.   Ones with arch supports were best, but decent looking ones were hard to find.   I had just resigned myself to having "bad arches."

Then I started stretching the tendon along the bottom of my feet.   After a week or two of that I could wear any shoes, no more problems.   I notice it coming back again now, showing up as sore feet first thing in the morning.   I need to start the stretching again.

I couldn't agree more, streching is the key. I learned and after it got so bad I had to have surgery I now stretch every morning and I have very few problems. A couple years ago I traveled for work for a couple of months and since I was out of routine the stretching just sort of got forgotten and sure enough after about 3 weeks of skipping it came back. I just do a simple stretch on a step, I hold it for 30 seconds and repeat it 10 times. It seems to be working. Good luck.

Hey everyone!

I don't know how often I will log on and give a report... hopefully daily!  It looks like everyone else is doing well!

To BJ, I think your are doing great!  Remember to try to weigh yourself just once a week and not to get too worked up over the #'s as it's now been found to not be an accurate reading of body fat %'s!  I am one of those people who gets depressed at the #'s and says "Why bother!!!"

Until I realized that muscle weighs more than fat.  The more muscle you have the more fat you will burn!  Remember to take daily vitamins to protect your muscles from your body eating them instead of your fat and try to eat dairy products with casein in them to help repair and build new muscle tissue! (cottage cheese is the best I think!)

Now that you have an idea of what I am doing for my diet! (calories deficit w/ work out)

I have a plan to do brisk walks in the AM and PM  trying to stick to 30 - 40 mins each.  And about 3 miles long with a steep hill in the middle of it!  And eventually trying to switch it up and do the route faster until I can actually jog or run. >.<

After that I get home and do about 40 mins of calisthenics and 15 mins of problem area light weight training stuff.

(4 days in and already seeing results!)

I've already met 2 new people in my neighborhood too by getting out and walking around!   It's kind of neat!

UGH..I HAD WRITTEN DOWN STUFF AND HIT A MAGIC BUTTON THAT TOOK IT ALL AWAY!

ANYWAY....ITS GREAT TO SEE THE RESULTS OF OUR FIRST WEEK LADIES! I AM INSPIRED AND WONDER WHY MORE ARENT COMING ON BOARD WITH US??? I AM PROUD OF MJ FOR TAKING ON STRENGTH TRAINING MORE! AND KAREL, WELCOME YOU JOINED US!
I KNEW YOU WOULD!
GUYS WATCH THE LEGS AND FEET, WE ONLY GET TWO PAIRS AND IF YOU START TO GET AN ACHE, STOP AND REST......ITS NOT WORTH IT! :nono:

I WEAR A BOOT TO BED FOR MY SPUR IN MY HEEL FROM AN INJURY LAST SUMMER. WENT FOR MONTHS IN PAIN, NOT KNOWING WHAT HAPPENED, ASSUMING THE WORST. AT LEAST NOW I CAN WALK AND JOG AND DO MY REGULAR EXERCISE RELATIVELY WITHOUT PAIN, THANKS TO THAT BOOT I WEAR AND I ALSO GOT GEL INSERTS FOR JUST THE HEEL THAT HELPED A LOT. HONESTLY, IT MAY BE A BAD WAY TO GO, BUT I AM DOING MY WALKING BAREFOOT ON A THICK CARPET, AND I DO BELIEVE I AM STRENGTHENING MY ANKLE AND HEEL BECAUSE TRACTION TENNIES ON A THICK CARPET STOP YOU UP AND MAKE YOU STICK....AND I HAVE TWISTED MORE IN THEM THEN WITHOUT THEM....:dizzy:

CALL ME CRAZY, I KNOW! BUT ITS WORKING AND I KEEP GOING BACK AND MY FOOT IS OK. NOW, IF I CAN JUST FIGURE OUT THE KNEE! I TURNED WRONG ON FRIDAY WALKING WORKOUT, BUT I HAVE BABIED IT SINCE THEN...SO WE WILL SEE HOW TODAY GOES...

AGAIN, LADIES PAIN IS NOT WORTH EXERCISE....TAKE IT SLOW IF YOU START TO HURT.....INJURY CAUSES US TO GIVE UP...WE CAN GIVE UP!

IT LOOKS LIKE WE WILL BE BACK TO 3 DOGS AGAIN, AS ONE SHOWED UP THIS A.M. AT OUR GATE...A SHEPHERD WITH ONE BLUE/ONE BROWN EYE, PUPP..NO MORE THAN A YEAR, NO TAGS, NOTHING BUT A TORN CARPAL PAD . I ONLY WISH WE LIVED WHERE HIKER IS, SO I COULD TAKE THEM OUT FOR A HIKE OFF THE LEASHES... I FEEL HE WILL BE GOOD FOR WALKS, BUT THEN, THAT TAKES AWAY FROM THE EXERCISE BECAUSE OF THE DISTRACTIONS OF ALL THE DOGS WE ENCOUNTER AROUND HERE....SO FOR NOW, OUTSIDE WALKS ARE JUST FOR HUMANS...THE PUPPS PLAY IN OUR BACKYARD AND GET PLENTY OF RUNNING IN! THEY HAVE THEIR OWN TRACK! LOL:grin:

I HAVENT DONE MY WORKOUT TODAY, BUT MJ IS BACK FROM VISIT, AND I AM BUSY WITH THE WATERING OUR NEW GRASS, THE DOGGIES GETTING ACQUAINTED AND NOW ITS LUNCH TIME....THEN NAP TIME.....THAT IS WHEN I MAY GET A CHANCE....SOMETIME TODAY I WILL POST MY EFFORTS!

GOOD JOB TEAM!

PS. BACK DOWN TO 170 TODAY, ON THE DOWN SIDE...HERE I GO AGAIN! YAY THANK YOU JESUS!

Hi Everyone

I slept in this morning and didn't have time to do my exercise.......I know. I did plan to do it tonight though and still do. My little grandsons have just left, they had some guitar practice with me. I'm away to my treadmill now. I know I'll feel better after I've finished.

It's really good doing this challenge with so many people, I don't feel I'm on my own.

Did my morning walk earlier and added a few extra blocks and a big hill.  Maybe about another mile or so...?  Didn't time it just focused on going faster.

Hey I have a quick question!  My boyfriend has SERIOUSLY flat feet... He sort of walks like a big clown and not on his heals and toes.  We've gotten arch support inserts and new tennies and it helped for a bit but now he's walking, or rather waddling,  goofy again.  Thinking of getting him more shoes or inserts but it just seams too soon to have to buy more again.

His step mom thinks that he didn't get to walk around bare foot enough as a baby so his arches did not develop right.  And by the time he was in school he was a homebody who sat around using computers a lot...

I'm worried it's doing damage in the long run to the rest of his joints.  (knees, hips, back)

I have seen better hard plastic inserts with foam padding but I haven't found any for a long time now.

We don't have too much $ to spend so we can't go to some fancy footwear place.

Any ideas?

THEY ARE A GEL HEEL INSERT WITH A NICE ARCH ON THEM, THEY ARE PRETTY BLUE AND WERENT EXPENSIVE AT ALL. I HAVE TO BUDGET TIGHTLY WITH OUR CASH NOW, WE ARENT USING CREDIT, SO ITS BEEN ONLY AFFORDABLE THINGS FOR US THIS YEAR. I ALSO GOT A PAIR OF DR SCHOLLS CLOGS...THE KIND LIKE THE DR'S AND CHEF'S WEAR...YOU CAN PICK EM UP FOR LIKE 30$ COMPARED TO THE "REAL DANSKOS THAT CAN BE LIKE 180$...ITS WORTH IT. I WEAR MINE ALOT! :)

GOOD LUCK! GET HIM TO A DR FOR A SPECIAL INSERT WITH AN ORTHO AND PHYSICAL THERAPY IF ITS REALLY AN IMPEDIMENT FOR HIM. :( USE THE INSURANCE, ITS WHAT ITS THERE FOR! :) GOOD LUCK! GOD BLESS!

Well just to be true to myself and accountable here to everyone on this challenge I've just completed my best ever exercise routine

5 min walk
35 min jog/run
5 min walk
5 min cross trainer
10 mins flab machine

FEEL FANTASTIC

I've also noticed the last two or three times I've thought about treadmill I've not thought 'oh no' but 'I'll feel great when I finished'. That's a HUGE MASSIVE mental block slowly being knocked down. Now I really need to shift these extra 7lb I'm carrying for my MOB dress. ALL AND ANY ADVICE WELCOME.....

i have been tracking my inches lost since august, and now am around 22in off....in places i normally work but not quite the same as when i use the bowflex. its so worth the investment, we pay 24 a month for a great machine that only i use! its all mine! i track the workouts the wt and the measurements, about every 1.5 mos. Some months i am more into strength and i see a bigger loss that month. It has changed and shaped my butt, my legs, my shoulders, my collar bone area stands out and my upper arms, though still "flabby to me" are smooth on top, not raised as it used to be where my muscle was under the fat...now its more sleek. Its all due to that machine! I am also a believer in the hand free wts you can pick up at any walmart. I have 10pd hand barbells..i used those right after i had mj and it was good too...just more work and its not the same as the tension rods..they are smooth not jerky. With the machine, i have a book of workouts, it is easy to use and it doesnt stand to fall on my toes! :) I can do so much with the machine!

Ok, that is enough...you can do it with just about anything if you need to watch the cash...i picked up mine for like 20$ total, i think! Still have em after almost 4 yrs!

:) Keep goin!

Welcome Karel.ls!   Please post the date(s), minutes of cardio, and whether you did a strength training session or not.

Lami, I'm glad you're getting into it.  BTW, if I get mixed up because of the time difference, please let me know.

Same with everyone, if I mess up on that chart please let me know.

MJ, I'm just the opposite of you. I hate the cardio part.  If I go out tonight I'm stopping at exactly 30 minutes.  Going to the track is BORING!  I'm going to look into one of those Leslie workout tapes/DVD's tomorrow.

Finished 3 sets of exercises for 12/10/8 reps: Legs (various, w/4 lb wts), biceps(10 lbs), deltoids(4 lbs), triceps(upper body wt).  Then upper & lower abs, and a little shoulders, back & chest.

It's clouding up and looks like rain.   So I was thinking I could stop now with no cardio tonight, but you guys ruined that excuse with all your talk of jogging in the rain.

Oh! Sorry!  I didn't really get the format of all of this!

Okay...

4/20/09  30 min cardio
40 min calisthenics (push-ups, crunches, mountain climbers... type stuff)
              15 mins of weight training
2 1/2 hours hiking / walking on the coast! (probably about 8 miles total)

4/21/09    30 min cardio

*Going out for another walk here in a bit to spend time with friends.

hee hee lol...nancy you bet you cant get out of a good solid rain walk/jog, its cleansing for the spirit too! rain feels so good on your face, unless you are in a convertible or a motorcycle! :) go girl!

ok, we just got back from a 50 min 2.5-3 mile power walk with mj in her zoomer stroller, one of those 3 wheel monsters that can even rock climb! so, i did some strength too as we are at the foothills, we were in soft sand about 3/4 of the way and she and stroller together is about 50-60 pds. I cant say what i could call that though....a 50 min hi cardio workout, i huffed and puffed and blew the workout away! :)

no bowflex today, will do that tomorrow. :) have a great nite team! :)

Ok, so today was great.... I did strength stuff on the wii fit this morning for about 20mins. Then of course spent the rest of the day doing what I wanted to on it. Then went for a brisk walk. There was a track meet tonight, so I didn't get in any jogging. Then came home and did my bike while reading one of my gossip magazines. So, all in all it was a good exercise day.

100mins. cardio and 20mins. strength

Plantar fasciitis - Glad someone brought that up. It is the most horrible thing to get. I found for me it was good shoes that did the trick. That and doing some other things like the bike and elliptical so I wasn't putting on as many miles. But, I truly love walking, it's more like therapy for me. It just makes my whole world a better place when I can get out and put on some miles.

Midge, I'll trade you one strength workout for 30 mins of cardio.  Anyone?

The sky cleared up.

Fast walk to the track, ONE lap only (2 laps would have put me 3 mins over ). A couple circles around a parking lot on the way back.  Exactly 30 mins.  Take that, Guidelines!!!

April 21: Cardio: 30 mins;  Strength: Yes

BJD, that's a great idea to have MJ with you in the power zoomer while you walk.

Cport, I've been wondering too. I hate to make that much of in investment if I'm not going to do it. How does it work, I mean obviously you have to buy the wii fit, then you buy games/exercises? I am one of those who tends to buy exercise stuff I never use so I am hesitant. How long have you had it and how often do you use it? Any details might help us make a decision.

I really like mine. The only thing I don't like about it, is there is allot of lag time in between stuff and it gives you advise and makes little comments. :dizzy: Like yesterday, I couldn't do this one exercise, so I stopped in the middle and it called me a couch potato and gave me no points. Ticked me off, cause I did do half of it and it was hard. lol

I would do it everyday if I could, it's fun. I can say that it is not a good work up a sweat work out. At least not for me. But, it is great for toning and warming up for a seriously cardio work out. I don't know if it would be worth the investment just for exercise. If you were looking at it for entertainment, then sure. But, I wouldn't invest in it for just the exercise part of it.

I wouldn't mind trying some of the other exercise stuff they have for the wii. Oh, and I want to get the dance thing, that is like ddr on the playstation. That should work up a sweat....

Ps: I don't know what is was that I did yesterday on that thing, but my abs are killing me this morning.

yeah i know, i love it!!! have had it since i took her to san diego and we used it to go everywhere....! The only problem i have now, is that she would Prefer to Walk....which I always make a deal with her...mommy gets in her walk, at least 40 minutes and then i let her get out and walk with  me while we do the cool down for 5-10 min. I love that its good in soft sand, since that is where we are in the desert! But yesterday, I walked on the side of the road to get to our dirt roads and it has a decent slant for water etc....and my rt hip was higher as i was kinda at an angle for about a mile and today my hip is achey. Note to self, if we go that direction for our walk again, I must concede to walk on the road...bullocks to the cars, they cant miss us! (its just they go fast you know! and there isnt a bike lane, its just a two lane in and out of our community...our :main rd: if you will! We live about 9 miles out of los lunas that is our road. :) Gotta love the sticks!

So today, it will be the bowflex strength training, and then probably a small walk with mj so she can really get her walk in. :) I am down another pd today to 169, back under the 170's....whew...its been so touch and go these past few days!!! I am clear headed and feel good about my new plans...its working for me!

Sis's kids just got a wii, they love it, but i noticed that its kinda slow too...D tried to play and couldnt keep his patience in the slowness of it.....i imagine there is much more in the wii fit than the one they had.......when they come this summer, if they have gotten one of the fit toys, i will ask them to bring it since now my curiosity is peaked too!!! :) Cindy you are a trend starter!!
