There are only 8 days left on our Jan/Feb challenge, but I expect we shall have the March-and-April challenge start (in the Challenges) section on or around March 1st, so you might like to join it then.

i would like to be at 155 by July. I am currently at 174, succeeded on the New Year New You challenge and will join Nirs next challenge as well......but accountabilty everywhere really helps me too! Welcome to our family!

We are planning a vacation to Ca in July, and I would love to be in better stronger tighter shape by then. I am losing the weight but i have been unmotivated to really work out. I do by keeping busy with horsies we have, my 3.5 yr old daughter and i have videos as well as a bowflex. What i want is a bike to ride while I am home bound on the really windy days on the mesa.....its no fun to ride in the wind and dirt! Alas, that is not something I can have at the moment, so I make do....but exercise motivation is more of what I need now.....

I can do it !!!! So can you!!! Good Luck!

Thanks, fellow challenge-lover :)  I know what you mean about getting the motivation to work out...sometimes it is SO hard! i've been doing pretty well with it. I find that if I can just make myself go, I'm fine once I'm there, and then afterward I am so glad that I went. We can definitely do this!  And, thank you a bunch for the welcome :-)

The best thing about many challenges is that you can post your succes several times!

Haha, anyway I would like to join your challenge.

I live in Tanzania with my mother, but my moms family, my dad, and most of my good friends live in Denmark (where I have lived for long and my mother is danish) and I go to visit every 6 months about. This means I will see them this summer! My friends in Denmark love me no matter what (thank God!), but I know they would be very happy for me if I did something for myself that made me happy.

Starting weight for challenge: 67,2kg

My final Goal is: 55-60kg (121-132lb), there is no date on this, but it would be good before I go to visit which is in June/July/August

A closer goal is by April when my dad and grandparents come to visit. 65kg (143lb)

Another goal I have for summer is being able to run for 30min without dying.. *cough* I mean get tired

My weight goals might not be so ambitious but I will not make the mistake of setting myself up for failure. My running goal is very new to me, and it was something I never thought I could do - like loose weight, but I can loose weight, so I trust I can improve my overall fitness as well! (those experts out there say its possible )

I think those are some great goals!  Similar to your running goal, when I first started, one of my exercise goals was to be able to do the eliptical for more than 15 minutes without literally falling off and laying in the floor panting, haha. Now, I can do all the way up to 45 minutes on days I just focus on cardio.  If I can do it, you can definitely meet your running goal! But yeah, I think you have some great goals! It is really good to have family who support you and love you no matter what.  But it is also definitely a good thing for them to see your progress too, because then they can be great motivators to keep up the great work :-) We can meet our goals together!

I would like to join the challenge. My goals are about the same as everyone else.  I want to lose weight and excercise more. My beginning weight is 217 and I would like to be down to 185 by the end of this.  I would like work out about 3 to 4 times a week.  I know we all can do this together.

Thank you, that does give me some inspirtiation to continue. My running goal is actually more interesting to me right now, because I have already proven that I can loose weight, but the running is really pushing me very very hard.

I forgot to mention, I have a goal of 67kg by the 25 feb. Which is this wednesday I believe. This morging I was 67,1kg so I only have 100g to loose. I should be able to pull that off.

And for the exercise today I will do a work-out video.

Hello, I have a question for anybody.  My goal is to excercise at least 3-4 times a week.  My problem is that when I come home from work I am tired and I have all the things around the house to do. You know fix dinner and such.  I am a teacher also and I have school work to do too. So, how do you make it a priority to excercise and not get bogged down with all the things you have to do?  Thank you for you suggestions.

How to make time for exercise? I think if I had the answer to that question I could make 1 mil dollars. (or just be very very fit:wink:)

Maybe put on some music while you do your house-work and dance a little. I've read that the part of your brain that controls motoric skills can be manipulated by music. House-work is also good exercise.

Another thing you could do is every time you go to the bathroom set an alarm with 5 min and do jumping-jacks (or running in place or whatever) for those 5 min. (depending on how you bladder is , that should give you a little work-out)

But the best thing is of course to go do some continueuos exercise. I know you say you are tired, but I find if I do exercise (and this is proven as well) that I get more energy from it. I find that 1 hour (of sport or something, not intense cardio) gives me an energy boost but 2 hours make me tired, but I think that will change the fitter I get.

And finding an exercise form you like is also very important. I am best with sport type things because I get wrapped up in the game and stop thinking about things hurting, but it doesn't give you as much exercise as more focused things do, so its what fits you best.

Hope that helps:apple::grin:

Thank you both for being here! Sounds like we all have some pretty good goals :)

As for making time for working out, that can be tricky. I am up for work at 7, work from 9-6:30, and also in school full time (online classes, though), and trying to fit in exercise can definitely be a challenge in itself...I definitely understand where you're coming from!  I make a calendar and try to stick to it as much as possible. I usually don't work out on Saturdays and Sundays too often, so I use those days to do all my homework, house work, etc. monday-Friday, I work til 6:30, then work on homework for a couple hours before the gym, that way I don't have this dread on me, worrying about getting everything done when I get home (i find that it bogs down my workouts). Then, I workout around 9pm. Since my workouts are at night, it does keep me up for a little bit after I get home, still winding down. So, I use that winding down time to finish any small homework or housework related things. 2 other things that I have found to work (but I find my current routine works better for me) is to either get up earlier and get exercise done before anything else, so then I have the rest of the day to work, get housework and homework done, etc.  Or, I'll bring something to eat and go from work directly to the gym before I even go home. I find that sometimes going home first does get me out of the mood to workout. Try some different routines and see what works best for ya. Hope this has helped a little.

Tomorrow (monday) is my weigh-in day. I'll see any changes then, and come on here to this challenge and update you guys.

Keep up the good work, guys! Getting the motivation to even start eating better or start exercising, and just coming on here to post, is a big first step. We should pat ourselves on the back for even being on here!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

hello all!

working out is so hard for me to find time to do, along with the motivation..:dizzy:..some days are better than others! being an at home mom, its tough to get 20 minutes alone to focus on a workout without an interruption. I get workout by tending to the horses, taking care of M our 3.5yr old daughter, a 2500 sq ft home, 2 dogs, etc.. I have the bowflex, I try to commit 2-3 days to that, and i have the workout videos but well, for the last month I have been doing my own jogging, etc...and havent even wanted to look at the videos. I go thru phases all the time!

I did find more time before I was married and an at home mom...that is the wierd truth. When I was busy like you guys are, going to school, taking care of my gramma and keeping my parents place nice, plus working.....it was easier for me to work out then....but now, i am lucky to stay up past 9pm...! I am so tired by the end of the day, I go go go and mommy is pooped before she is ready to be pooped! We are up at 545am D is out by 645 and i start the day. He gets home at 6 or so and we have dinner immed. after and then i get baby ready for bed by 8, with bed bath and reading while daddy unwinds. I feel like 80% of my day is spent in the kitchen somehow....crazy eh? but I make his lunch, then breakfast for her and i, then lunch that is separate for her and i, then often 2 or 3 different dinners to satisfy the 3 of us.....argh..i could be a chef by now!!! I should be a caterer!!

I jest and this all started over exercise....I think too, that for me, its partly the winter blahs and not wanting to get out in the cold or wind...and i just wanna be indoors warm and cozy....reading a book if i can. I just finished Harry Potter 7. Ready for the movie to come out this summer! Cant wait! I will be back on the walking with M track in the summer, early spring....etc. We are also in transition there, she is really into walking with me, not being in her zoomer stroller..but i walk like 3.5 miles...fast, she cant do that with me, so we have to find a compromise where I can still get my workout in......

Anyhoo, baby calls...so i must say see you for now! Todays weigh in is 174...holding strong... :) Have a great week all!!

Thank you for all your advice about working out.  The last couple of days I have just come to the conclusion that working out is the first thing I have to do when I come home.  I have done 30 minutes of walking and weights in my room the past two days.  One thing that has helped a little is I have my work out clothes sitting on the bed waiting for me.  So, thank you again and I will check back later to tell if you this trend is continuing.  Talk to you all really soon.

Sounds like everyone is doing great!!!  Keep up the good work, everyone :)

It looks like (as of yesterday morning) that I am sticking right around 204.

Did okay with calories yesterday and today (1500 and 1125).

Worked out hard yesterday evening (1 hr. on eliptical, 30-40 min. weight training).

Did 45 mins today on the eliptical b/c I hadn't eaten as many calories.

Had a horrible/stressful/emotional day. Surprisingly, i didn't let it make me eat everything in sight, like I usually would when I get upset. So, i guess I'm doing pretty well.

I may weight myself again in a couple days....cheat a little bit on the once a week thing. I find that if I see even the tiniest bit of loss, it motivates me to keep going and work even harder.

Starting weight (Jan. 2nd): 220

Current weight: 204

lbs. lost so far: 16 lbs.

1st goal weight:  199 (break 200!!!)

Final goal weight: 140-ish (I figure I'll know it when I get there).

My scale is being mean to me :nono: , it's all over the place.

I am going running tomorrow so wish me luck that I live to tell the tale:shock::cool:

Sounds like you guys are meeting your goals! Brilliant :apple:

Hey guys! What about an update? Seems this challenge deflated a bit?

I'm doing good with my running. Can do 15min now, but it is very hard. Am keeping at it though!

Eating has been very disturbed... Don't know why but I am buckling under for stress... Am trying very hard though and I hope I can get nearer too my goal!

Hello there! An update that is an okay one.  I am doing better in working out almost every day.  I am at least 4 times a week now.  My weight is not going down though.  I think I am eating too much.  I need to get that under control.  I still stiving and reaching.  Talk to you all soon.
