EDITED DAYS!
Okay, so lately I’ve been snaking on the absolute worst things; so I’m going to try for a challenge!
How about we all try to eat healthy food (no junk), for 31 days! You get to set up a list of up to 5 foods you aren’t going to eat; and try to stick with it. We’ll post each day that we are able to meet this goal, and say when we don’t.
This will run from Dec. 8 to Jan. 8
It's something like the 21 days to Make or Break a Habit challenge, so lets try and make good habits!
We'll post trackers of our days, like if we get 5 good days; we'll have . See?
So!
1. Post your list of 5-10 things
2. Post your weight to see if this helps
3. Post as much as possible and keep us updated!
4. Good luck!

I will post my wight on the 8, as that's when the actual challenge starts, AND my weight is hopefully a bunch of water weight.

Why no pasta? Pasta is a staple in my diet. I make it with whole grain noodles and ground turkey breast.

Vega, whole wheat pasta is healthy, in moderation. Unfortunately, some of us don't know the meaning of that word.
Butterfly, count me in! I can try to be good for a month's time. I NEED to be good for a month's time. I don't think it's too productive to deprive yourself of the things you love permanently, but one month sounds reasonable...and TOUGH.
So...my list contains some foods which are healthy, but that I have great difficulty eating in healthy portions:
1. No pasta
2. No red meat
3. No chips
...break here. Butterfly, did you put frosting on your list?!? Tee hee...
4. No sweeties (including that notoriously deceptive Little Debbie...!!!)
5. No fried foods
OK, so that's my list. #3 and #5 shouldn't be too hard. With this being December, #4 is going to be quite difficult. There is homemade peanut butter fudge and chocolate fudge in the kitchen as we speak.
I'll already be honest and tell you that I might break down on Christmas Day. Or...I could just make my usual dinner and sit down at the table with the family and eat it. We will see, but regardless, moderation is the key.
#1 is one of my favorite foods ever, along with tacos, which I won't want without #2. #2 isn't bad, per se, but far from necessary. I can do without it for a month. My colon will likely thank me.
All right, I'll post my weight tomorrow...let's see how good of a boy I can really be.

Awww gee, you had to do this through Christmas. But, that's ok. I need to be good this month for the cholesterol test coming up. So, count me in.....
Ok, this is my list...
1. no ice cream
2. no red meats
3. no cheese, with the exception of the fat free kinds
4. I can't give up chocolate completely, so I will say no candybars or cookies
5. no pasta
Ok, I tried to set realistic ones that I know I can do with a little push. So, that's the list and I am sticking to it.

I don't know about everyone else. But, I tend to over do it with pasta. So, it's just easier not to go there. I have the same problem with potatoes.

Exactly! I have an addiction to pasta, potatoes, and bread. One bit; and I'm off! The sad thing is, my mom cooks things in bulk around my house; so I'll end up over eating pasta for the next 3 days!
...break here. Butterfly, did you put frosting on your list?!? Tee hee...
Yeah; I'm special like that. ^^;;
Yay! I'm happy I got some people to do this with me! I hope we can all push through; especially with the holidays comming up!
Good luck to everyone and thanks again for joining!

This is what one serving of pasta looks like:

1 serving of pasta is 1/8 of a 1 lb. box! 2 flippin' ounces! That's sort of like receiving a hug from somebody, but instead of using their arms, they only hug you with the tips of their fingers.
I'm adding something to my list:
6. No bread
Lately, the vast majority of my bread intake has only come with pasta, so this should be reasonable. Just thought I would add that...
Hmm...OK, I'll add one more:
7. No cheese
I can usually eat this in moderation, but not lately. I can get the protein and calcium from other sources.
Good luck to us. I'm glad this is daily...good for accountability.

o.o Oh my! My serving is about twice that! Or more!
I hope this helps everyone with moderation, because I did this on my own; in a way. I stopped eating peanut butter for about a month; and now I can control myself around it!
Lately, I've been snaking on all the wrong things. Things I used to not even touch! It's odd; but hopefully this challenge will help.
Thanks for the picture Crimson! ^^ Maybe that will help me after this challenge!

Today it starts! We went grocery shopping today, and I thought about what all I would like to eat, most of which included one of my items.
But...didn't buy ANY of it. So...the challenge is helping already!
Also, oops! You said post up to 5 things, but I posted 7. Shall I condense my list? I could probably remove chips and fried foods - I usually don't eat those anyway.
It's funny...I saw ham at the store, and I thought "Hey, pork isn't on that list." Naughty me...but I didn't buy it, either. LOL
Weight today is 209...goal is 199.

Oh, I am glad it didn't start until today. I totally blew it last night with a cookie. Was pretty at myself for that.
But, I have been good today. Every time I think about those cookies on the counter, I grab a tangerine. Well, I have had five of those so far, lol. Shows ya, what I am thinking about.
HaHa! Nick! I am already trying to figure out a way to have that chocolate without the cookies and candy bars. My fat free ice cream has some fudgie stuff in it. OH wait! Ice cream is on my list.... dang...have to keep thinking... jk
Anyway, I really want to do good with this challenge. So GOOD LUCK EVERY ONE!!!

Cindy, have you ever eaten real chocolate? You can usually buy it in the baking section of the store. It has no added sugar, no milkfat, etc., just pure chocolate, and very high in fiber (about 7 grams per serving). Not everybody likes it, but it's a thought.

So, yesterday my mom makes thing thing with pasta; and said we have a whole pot of it! T-T I freaked out a bit, then I though that I could probably figure out away to avoid it, so it should be a challenge!
Also, oops! You said post up to 5 things, but I posted 7. Shall I condense my list? I could probably remove chips and fried foods - I usually don't eat those anyway.
No, no! It's fine. It's more of like; a bade line to go around. ^^;;
I'm glad everyone's doing well! I'm doing pretty good too!
Hopefully I'll stay away from any incriminating stuff tonight at this party I'm going to!
Oh, and current weight is 143! Goal, will be to get down to 137.
Hmmm. That chocolate is probably bitter though; right? I hate dark choclate, and that's the only kind thats good for you! T-T

Yea, I think I had that once when I was a kid and my grandmother had bought some for something she was making. I remember it being bitter and not that good.
I will stick to the bad stuff, but thanks anyway, Nick...
I don't eat allot of it, it's just when I get cravings for it, it's better to just eat it. Otherwise I eat a ton of stuff trying to make up for it or trying to find a substitute. You know what I mean. It's just better to have a little of what I want and avoid the whole eating everything in the house to get the same feeling from it. Plus, I do good on portion control if I freeze it first.
Did that make sense, lol.
Anyway, have to admit the cookies sitting on the counter are getting harder and harder. I might have to let the daycare kids scarf them down tomorrow.....

GAH! I knew that stupid party would be my down fall! It had EVERYTHING on me list.
There where chips, rice/ pasta, candy, and worst of all CHOCOLATE!
I did SO well, until me and my mom were walked back to the car and shoved a cookie under my noes. I felt bad for rejecting it, so I had to eat it! But I mean, it's not as terrible as it could have been!
Anyway, today I passed ALMOST everything.
Keep it up loves! I believe in us!

Ack. Sorry, Butterfly, but I'm dropping out. I could just stay in and say that I might do good from time to time, but that wouldn't be productive, physically or psychologically. Maybe I'll join a future one, when and if it occurs.
Best of luck to you all.

Hey, come on... I am trying hard, someone else needs to also.
I am not in this alone.... someone needs to do this with me.
I have a pantry with cookies in it... and I can't resist them, if everyone is giving up...
ugh!
I even wrote down what I couldn't have, so I wouldn't mess up....

I'm sorry! I couldn't have chosen a worse month for myself. This will be almost impossible for me to do! T_T

Sorry for not posting in so long! Welcome to the challenge!
So, I haven't been doing fantastic, but I think we shouldn't have trackers. Just keep trying, and let it go when you cant do it one day, or anything. That way, there isn't quite so much mental baggage and stuff.
ANYWAY!
The good thing? I have avoided chips for a while now! yay for me!
GRR! I can't fix the challenge first post to say that you're doing the challenge with us...so yeah. I'm sorry!
You're still part of it, it's just not going to be up there on the list.

its ok, i am happy to mentally put myself on the list. well, my weekend got shot to the moon in food, but i happily say that i didnt eat anything except 3 candy canes on Thursday. Havent done well, but i didnt eat anything else on the list, so I am proud of myself in some way. oddly enough i dont want any of those things today, or the past few days. The things I ate were homemade sugar cookie dough while making cookies for the fund raiser that we had on Saturday. I made another batch yesterday for my hubby. he liked the frosted ones..so we made a batch and cut them out and decorated them together. It was fun! :) But, yeah admittedly, I ate a bunch of dough a small ball here a scap of ending from a cutout there...you know...munch munch munch...
i keep looking at a pepsi can sitting in the fridge, its so tempting...but i cant...no it wont win!

i am still doing ok. but i should have put cookies on my no no list. there are my challenge.
it is so easy to tell myself that bran flakes are ok for me. or that i can eat pizza and not gain the weight. it is so easy to think i am normal. but i am not. i have addictions to food. sometimes i think that even the healthy stuff hurts me when overeaten and not eaten in proper proportions. that is sad.
i need to modify my list.
1. COOKIES
2. CANDY
3. FAST FOOD
4. COFFEE, REGULAR SODA
5. OVEREATING ANYTHING AND NOTHING IN PARTICULAR.
I HAVE TO GET TOUGH WITH MYSELF OR I WILL NEVER LOSE.

Well, I thought I would just stop in. Cause it seems I am having trouble with the candy and candy bars are on my list. I think I will start coming in here on Mondays to report how well I have done.
I kind of forgot what was on my list, lol. I had to go look...
So, after I did that. Yea, I had a few bites of hamburger today, cause I made the hubby barbeque's for supper. So, I need to be more careful and pay attention.
I think I will write my list out and put it on the refrigerator...
Good Luck everyone...

i already blew it. i was doing well today, but then something triggered me. it was madeline and then the conversation with D. i made the marshmellow things he asked for and while i was forming them into wreaths, i ate the bits that got stuck o my fingers. i also ate a small cookie. when will it ever stop? when will i learn that making the bad choices only hurts me worse and makes me practically run down hill to that weight i was trying to outrun???
agggghh......i can still work it out. i only had that egg, so add these items to what would have been my lunch calories count and then have a smart dinner.
Lord, i just hope i dont get any more upset today!!

hubby saw my note on the wall by the fridge. he read all of the items off the list and thought for a moment as i put away his lunchboxes. A second later he said "well, alright then! I am watching you!"...and then I laughed and he said " you must not have had a good weigh in today?"
How is that for a supportive spouse? Now, I have to do this!!! I have been weighed and measured...hee hee ha ha lol

Lol! That's too cute!
I wish my parents where sportive. Bleh, if I told them I want to be healthier (which I have hinted at many times) they'd freek out.
I can't control my eating! RAWR I'm so stressed about tests and finals and my friends and EVERYTHING!
Gar. But after this week, we're starting over. FOR SURE
and this time, I'm going to write down everything I eat down to the last bite! Gos darn it, I'm going to get there if it means fighting a hippo.

you fight that hippo...i have a rhino on my tail!!! we can battle them together!! I was pretty good last nite, I had my swordfish, a small corn on the cob, 1/2 of small red potato steamed with skin, and fresh orange cut up into Little Itty BItty pieces so it would take longer to eat!!! For dessert I had one of my wreath marshmellow things, with my hubby (we discussed that this is not a cookie on my list, that these are too rich to eat more than one, these are not my worry. If I were concerned for theses, they would be on my list as Crispy treats...So then we discussed how to get the calories counted for these bad boys...that is my homework today.) Then, later I had a huge mug of my sugar free cocoa with a splash of half n half and a BITE of apple from an apple pie i made for him on Monday.
I didnt do too bad. Have to find out Just how many calories are in a crispy treat? but see, my recipe is corn flakes, vanilla, butter, marshmellows and food coloring. Can I put the ingrediants with amounts into the calorie calculators on the website??? hmmmm...will have to see what I can do!!
On the parent thing, i dont know if my parents were ever really supportive, or they just were too busy. Once I was older, in my late 20's and back living with them, We Were All More Aware of What we all ate. We kept each other accountable. But growing up, noone ever saw What I Really ATE. I did that all alone. Parents are tough, one minute they support, the next they are in denial, thinking that it cant be their child with a problem. My dad is facing that now, my oldest brother is an alcoholic and doesnt want help. He has gotten busted too many times and must put interlocks on his steering wheels in order to stay on the road. Dad is beside himself. It is not up to us to save him, he has to do it himself and until he wants to do it, my dad has to step away and pray. It is hard for parents. We have to be strong so they see we really want what we are aiming for and then they get the understanding! We can do it butterfly hourglass!

lol... last night I didn't want to exercise and the hubby told me to get down and do it, that I was looking a little fat So, of course that totally ticked me off. He started laughing and said I am just teasing you and it is what you had already said. God, I was mad, but you know what, I got my butt down stairs and exercised...
I don't know if that is good support or bad, but it worked. lol
Update on the list. I resisted the candy this morning while changing in the closet. I thought about it. Even looked in the bag, but then I walked away from it.....
Yeah for me!!!!

I dont know if I like it or if he is mocking my effort to tease me.....so i roll my eyes and he starts to laugh and tell me to work it girl and get moving!!!
He does that reverse psychology trick and it always makes me work that much harder....
It was a good thing, they motivate us, dont they? isnt it funny how we say it about ourselves and we whine and cry, they say it and it pisses us off and we go do it!!! Gotta love those hubbies!!!
