hey guys....well i survived but i am up a pd. :( didnt eat too much but i did go over my numbers each day....and did yard work to balance it out, or at least some good physical activity helped keep it from being a bigger gain!

its always so hard with D off for the two days. I hate to say that but the whole routine is just getting set and we go back into weekend mode! He actually apologized for it on sunday, when i finally got myself something to eat and he wasnt interested in eating. I cant do the no eating all day and then pig out anymore...i dont know if he gets that totally or not.....i am trying not to inflict my routine too much onto him, but some days its hard for me.....

next weekend our company is arriving, so Lord make me strong for that visit! We will have one adult, a black lab, a preteen of 12 and a 17 rd old..both boys. Oh boy! I cant wait, its gonna be great, but oh the food! I hope I can hold strong! I cant buy anything for them, so they get what we eat or they will have to go shopping when they get here......

ugh then easter the weekend after that! Oh boy I am already seeing the challenges!

I can do it!

Ok, the weekend is here again. Who is in this with me. I really need to do good this weekend. I haven't been so good today. So, I need to turn that around and have a great weekend....

My plan is to get lots of rest and try to exercise as much as possible. I do have a cold coming on so that might be a challenge depending how bad it is. Also, the eat thing is always hard when I get sick. For whatever reason I think it will make me feel better. lol, yea, just more bloated.

Ok, so I can't pig out and try to exercise as much as I can...

Anybody else joining in???

hey guys! i am here...chugging along trying to not eat everything in the house! just having a munchie day, it has been tough from the first moment i opened my eyes, just felt off. Wanted to stay in bed. No luck! I did get a 3mile workout in though! Company leaving TONITE instead of sunday, gonna try to beat a winter storm running thru wy. and co. Lets pray for safe travel but my guests will be here tomorrow noonish..so if i disappear i am entertaining! I WILL DO MY BEST NOT TO BE A:pig::pig: I will be running around so much I am sure, keeping MJ in line with the two boys, one is autistic and not into being touched, and MJ loves to be affectionate....so it will be constant for me while they are here. Its good though, keeps me distracted from the food. :) maybe I can actually LOSE while they are here!!!! LOL...that would be wonderful!!

Cindy Hang on, if you are getting a cold, maybe dont go nuts exercising, just do enough to be tired, if you wipe yourself out you will get sick! Drink lots! Stay Warm! Vitamins...oh i am such a mom!!! always wanting to advise and help.....if only i could take my own advice!! lol..take care guys, check in when i can!

Oh yeah, D is bringing home a truckload of scrap wood that we have to cut, sort, and move to the wood pile, so i will definately be ACTIVE! :)

Sounds like some very good plans for you guys. And maybe BJ is right, I don't think your immune system would like you weakening it with exercise? But I am not a doctor... No way I could get a cold where I live, in Tanzania. It is 32 degrees celsius here. And its summer now because TZ is on the other side of equator.

My grandparents and father have come to visit my mother and I and with them in the house I have been so so stressed. They are picky eaters. And they are eating the low-cal food that has been specifically bought for myself. And something like my grandparents bringing cheese from Denmark to sit and eat here! It can drive me nuts. Its just rude. Eat the food that is being served or go hungry! And my grandfather can't even cook and he expects we do and do it to his taste. ARGH:angry: My father continuesly offers me food, and advocates for how good white bread is?! He's just being stupid and does not like to listen to facts if he doesn't agree. None of them are fat, but they sure aren't the healthiest, or politest eaters.

Now to the next problem  I will be gone for a week on safari with them. It will be good because I will not feel they are invading my personal space, but the food will be irregular, I will not be cooking it, buffets and sitting in a car all day. - Not ideal for weightloss. So I'm out for next weeks challenge because I won't be back to write. This is also my only post for this weekend.

For today: I will be a little active and otherwise of course try to be within my limit for food. I have no idea what food we will have with all these people in the house. What annoys me is that the food-mentality I have brought into this house is being pushed out by others. I make great low-cal food for my mother and I, but as soon as they come she makes dinner for all of us and it is not low-cal. That I am eating something different from everyone else at the dinnertable does not help to disprove the thought that you are deprived when you are on a diet. Because I know that normally you are not!

oh sqzee...you have a unique situation, you will make the best of it! I am not sure how this coming week will go for me either, my scale is not my friend the last two days and i am already unsure of what i will cook for the "picky teenagers" who are coming here! They will be here today by noon, and I am not ready! I have been looking forward to this visit, but then i havent? does that sound funny? I have become so isolated in this world since cutting my family off (with excellent reason) but now, D's family is coming and I have to be on "good behavior" i feel. I want to be a good hostess, and have all they need..which we know is impossible, i never try to understand what teenagers want. They are good kids! Its just my head psyching me out! (AS ALWAYS!)

So MJ was up at 7, she has had 3 icee pops, wouldnt eat any "food". I am forcing down oatmeal and trying to do right today but i feel irritable. We are dealing with 50mph winds today and all last nite, it makes me edgy and mean. I dont enjoy the wind, esp with all the dirt blowing! I know you may appreciate that since you are going on a safari!? WOW! HOW COOL IS THAT!? Have a great time, even if you see this post returning from the safari...together, in a week you and i will get back on track if we stray!...... :sheep::cow::horse: (we dont have giraffes and lions here or i would put them up!)

Last nite I had neopolitan ice cream before 8pm. I had some sugar free cocoa before 9pm, tossed half of it out. Eating isnt making me feel any better. I am very upset with myself for allowing myself to eat extra this week. I have been in the 1800-1900 calories a day like 300 over what i try to maintain.....BUT i did get in 4 miles yesterday. I did 3 all together then before i started dinner i pushed thru another mile...trying to burn off the extra snacks....that didnt go too well, since i went back for ice cream....

Hiker, Cindy, OUATG, girls...where is everyone?? I hope you guys are all successful this weekend!!!

Well, I blew this weekend also. UGH! I can't seem to resist fast food when we go places. Went to the city to get my game, see the daughter and hubby had parts to pick up at some guys house. So, of course we ate when we were there. I had arbys. Otherwise I did ok this weekend. I wouldn't say I was good, but not terrible. So, I am back on track today and hopefully have a good weigh in sometime this week so I can post in the spring challenge.

hey all!

well, company here since saturday, had some home made (super sugared) rice pudding...wow. i had about 1/2 c and it was good but too sweet! (happy I can say that!) i made them all pizza and i had leftover fajitas, so that was good..but i have been eating neopolitan ice cream the last two nites for dessert, before 8pm! and not too much, about a cup. Overall, I guess I aint doing terrible, but we will be heading to town today, her boys wanna go to Toys r Us since they dont have one where they live. That means eating lunch out, most likely Sonic...I will just have a meal, keep it simple but I wont try to resist it either, but I PROMISE..no sundaes! I will be good!

i am hoping to maintain thru the week, and next Monday weigh in will either be the same or less!? HA! DO YOU THINK I CAN DO IT??? :)

Hang In Cindy! We can survive this!!! :)

i enjoyed eating this weekend: leftover chicken and dumplings:chicken:, peanut butter egg, jelly beans:rabbit:, eggs galore and orange juice! I combatted the extra intake with a 5 mile workout saturday and sunday was 3 miles and strength so i am ok today! :)

Next weekend will be better! :)

Okay, it is Friday morning and I am in this challenge for the weekend! I am coming off a very bad eating binge, I am stressed at work and I still have remnants of a 2 day headache. But  I have channeled my grandmother who is the strongest woman I have ever known and she will get me through it. I know that when I make it to the other side she will be waiting and I will have to answer for every time I gave up...and quitting is out of the question. So here I am ready to take it on . Whose with me?

LOL, wish I had a grandmother like that to keep me in line. Even if she is on the other side....

Ok, I am game also. We both have been struggling so we can do this together. I plan on doing more exercise this weekend. I haven't been doing much on the weekends. So, I plan on yard work and exercise. So, we see how it goes.

Food, I am just going to try and avoid it as much as possible. lol, that seems to work the best for me at the moment.

Well that is the plan......

i am with you guys! i am here! i am kinda starting my weekend today since my folks are coming to take mj for the weekend...so today is kickoff to what i hope will be a healthier weekend for me. the junk is lessening, but its still around. the doughnuts are gone, the cereal wont be touched since i am out of lowfat milk, not worth using the vd milk, too many more calories....(ha listen to me!! worry about those things after a high calorie week like i had???).....i will do my best to avoid the snacking. I will do my best not to go to the kitchen, esp when i am here alone....maybe i should just go back to bed and read a book? that would keep me out of the kitchen! lol.....no i wont do that, but i have a bunch of House, Bones and my thursday nite shows to catch up on...so today i will do some of that, my workout and just relax a little. Try not to think about the way I have behaved this week food wise. I can get it back!!!

Today, just relax and enjoy the quiet.
Saturday, not sure yet....maybe the same, since d is working, how many times do i get to be here totally to myself??? relish in that while i can! Cant go out, cant spend any money, so yeah..just hang out here, read and clean and workout.. :) ahhh heaven.... :)
Sunday, something here with d i am sure, either a project outside if weather is nice or just be together... :) will know more later as days pass. Workout if he has a project he wants to do solo, like car work...
Monday, mj back so back to our routines.. :)

We can do it guys! I am here with you!!!

Glad MJ is with her Gram for the weekend...gives you and break and will give her the opportunity to have the kind of relationship with her Gram Cport and I had with ours. Grandmothers are wonderful people,.. so much more understanding than Moms :grin:.

anyway, tonite is here, not sure what tonite brings....hope you guys all do well! :)

Just wanted to stop in and let you guys know I had a great Friday, calories were 1140. I was really busy and didn't get any exercise in but I have been eating so badly for the past 3 weeks it felt great to be in control again. I knew channeling Gram would do it:cool:. Now I just need to keep her with me for a few more days. I know it may seem silly but if I feel like she is with me, pushing me on, I am so much stronger. Today I have a 10 mile walk planned so I will get some exercise today. I'm not on that horse yet but at least I have my foot in the stir up .

BJD, hope you are enjoying your time without MJ....moms need some time too.

thanks hiker! so far it has been nice. we had a quiet nite last nite, hot tub for an hour! this morning i got up early and went to walmart, got some stuff, and a new pair of size 12 capris! Yay! I went over the budget, but hey stuff is getting more expensive, i swear to it! Had to get dog food too, and some healthy sweets for me, or i will go crazy. I have gained! I have to accept it, I am up to 170. I am up fairly about 3 pds, which is hurting me in my head. Realization of changing medications two weeks ago, knowing they may cause some gain, also working out every day, and eating more this whole week has done it. Shows me that I cant slack off at all, or it call can come back just like that!!!

So, today has been nice, I will sit down soon and watch some of my shows, i didnt get to do any of that yesterday...I really hope mj is having a blast, and they are taking good care of her. The sun is out, which is nice, she can play outside!

I havent really eaten anything yet, i am boiling more eggs, i am gonna make an egg salad and some more beets and eggs...the eggs are soo good in the beet juice. I also cut up carrots, got more peppers and cucumbers, fruits and sugar free popsicles and even 1% milk. I cant go to the fat free, cuz its blue to me, but i will try the 1%....see how that works out. Kudos to me for making the step! :) I am trying to make good choices...its just so much more expensive even when you price compare with the big stores... argh....

I am not giving up!! 3 pds will go away!!! I have to make it go away!!!

BJD, beets and eggs?? I'm intrigued, what do you do with them, make some kind of salad? Does it use mayo? Hmmm. do tell. Have you tried shopping consignment shops? I have great luck in one near my house,  I picked up an LL Bean shirt for $7, it was brand new...tags still on it and it retailed for 39.95. I don't always find those kinds of deals but it's always worth a look before I hit the regular stores.

I had a good day today, got in a 10 mile walk and calories were 1149 so far, I plan on yogurt with some honey before bed so I should be around 1300, which I am happy with.. I'm feeling strong so I should be able to. I haven't felt strong for the past three weeks so I am really hoping this is the start of a trend.

This weekend has gone very well for me. I was able to keep my calories low and my exercise was good. I walked 10 miles on Saturday and today I took :dog::dog::dog: for a short (45 minute) hike then I went out for another 5 miles so I feel pretty good about that. I do need to start adding more strenth training but I am happy that I have finally gotten back on the horse and I am eating right again for the first time in 3 weeks. Thanks for the support, it helps.

Well, I don't know if this weekend was good or not. I did good on Sunday and on friday. Sat. is questionable. I ate all healthy stuff, just to much of it. We grilled out and I had a bunch of veggies with fish cooked in foil on the grill. It was very good and I ate way to much of it.

So, I don't think I was terrible. I could of had greasy cheese burgers or something. I guess I did ok. But, I would still like to do better next weekend.

Cport, I would say you did very well, if you overeat on health foods it really is no big deal, maybe you needed it, who knows but as long as it's things like fish and veggies I wouldn't sweat it. Nice job.

Sounds like you guys are recovering well from some bad choices, I am trying to do the same.

I just checked in to say I am in for next weekend. This weekend I couldn't because my family and I went to Zanzibar, which I had forgotten we where going to. Like Cport, I chose the right food but ate too much of it. That is still a bit on the way isn't it though? I hope.

Sqzee, like I said to Cport, if you make health choices the quanity isn't such an issue at least that is my opinion. To much ice cream--bad, too much broccoli--not so bad. Since you went to Zanzibar for the weekend I assume you must be from Africa? It sounds very exoctic when you say you went there for the weekend.

 RED BEETS, ONIONS SLICED THIN, SOME SUGAR FOR FLAVOR(SPLENDA WORKS TOO), WHITE VINEGAR (JUST A BIT) WITH WATER MAKES THE JUICE (YOU CAN BOIL THE JUICES AND SUGAR FIRST BUT ITS NOT NECESSARY)...THEN I BOIL THE EGGS, PEEL THEM AND PUT INTO THE "SOUP"....IT MAKES THE SWEETEST TASTE IN THE EGGS, THEY TURN A PRETTY PINKY COLOR AND YOU CAN JUST KEEP PUTTING EGGS INTO THE BATCH....THERE ARE PLENTY OF RECIPES ONLINE FOR IT, ITS AN EASTERY THING THAT I GREW UP WITH. ONE OF MY FAVE WAYS TO EAT AN EGG! AND A BEET! I DO LIKE CONSIGNMENT AND CONSIDERED GOING, MAYBE WHEN I GET SOME CASH I WILL HIT THE STORE, I AM BOUND TO FIND SOME GOODIES! :) i LOVE THRIFTING!!!!

No (not in that sense) Hiker but I live in Tanzania (east africa right under Kenya) in Dar es Salaam. My mother is stationed for a 3-4 year period for the Danish Embassy. And my grandparents and father have just visited so we have been around a bit, on safari and Zanzibar.

Zanzibar is not too exotic though. My father is Tunesien (north africa, arabic indfluences, so I AM african haha:wink:), so I've been there and I live here in Dar. And I find Zanzibar kind of a mix between a very run-down tunesien city and small-scale Dar. I haven't been anywhere other than Stone Town so I haven't experienced the lovely beaches with dolphins on the south and north side others talk about yet, but I was on a tour of a spice farm and it was very interessting actually. It's probably my grandparents only time visiting so that's why we went, we don't typically go to Zanzibar on a weekend just, this is my second time going and we have now lived here a year, but my mother has been a couple of times but that was for work.

Well, it's Friday and today I start my weekend. My plan is to keep my calories under 1500 Friday, Saturday and Sunday. As for exercise I think I'm all set,  Today I have a stretch and tone class and I hope to get a 2 mile walk in and then I have plans with friends to walk 13.5 miles on Saturday and 11 or 12 on Sunday. It's going to be in the 80"s here and while most people are all excited about it I am not, I do not like the heat so I really wish it was going to be more like 50 or 60, oh well. I will do my best not to whine about the heat....but is so haaaaard:devil:.

Whose with me for the weekend? Let's go!

I'm so totally with you for this weekend. I want to lose two more pounds before the end of the spring challenge. So, I have got to be good. Now that I am feeling better I feel I can make some progress. It's amazing how attitude means everything. I had to try on shorts from my closet today and it was pretty bad. I need to get 5lbs off right away, so I have something to wear. Ok, the plan is to finish up some garden stuff and do allot of walking. I will continue with learning yoga (I am really enjoying that). Then for food this weekend, I just need to be reasonable and not shove everything in my mouth. I have been really getting into eating egg whites. So, I will continue with that. I need to pick up some low cal dessert things for when I get cravings for sweets. I think I will be set if I can do all that.

Who else is going to join us! BJ? Are you in? Come on guys the more the merrier. Let's do this and pull off a good weekend.....

I have no idea of they're good but I saw an ad for them and they sure looked good and I really like there ice cream sandwiches. Hope you find something you can enjoy too.

BJD, Sqzee, whre are you, we need you .

My favorite low-cal snacks are tic-tacs and Halters hard candy's, as well as tea with fake sweetener, mainly because you can get it here!

Anyway I technically had a weekend-day yesterday too because it was a day off. I was out and about the whole day but managed a very low-cal breakfast of fruit. A snack of cashew-nuts and an omlette and juice at a small bistro type thing here. Very happy with what they had on the menu, it was very healthy and low-cal, though I would have avoided the juice normally but my friends would have thought me weird to order water, and juice here is always magnificant because it is always fresh. The I went to the movies and had popcorn so I was a little worried about that because of the butter, but they were very good, and I came home late and all I had was a little pasta som salad and a banana. It must have been an ok day because I lost for today.

Now today is a bit more tricky but I will try to hang in there, I have tennis tonight but I don't feel like going. I don't get much exercise out of it anyway. Food shouldn't be a problem if I can keep myself in line but my mother and I are baking because she is having a brunch tomorrow at our house which will be hard! I am really close to a healthy BMI though so maybe that can motivate me.

Sqzee, sounds like you have a challenging weekend, with baking and all. All you can do is your best and if you have a sweet or two, no big deal.

Your iced tea gave me an idea, I think I will try and make ice tea with Chai Tea. Has anyone ever done it? This is my first summer with iced tea, until now I was a coffee drinker but I am enjoying the tea, at least I did in the winter.

Hi guys, just thought I'd check in to see how everyone is doing, hope everyone is meeting thier goals.

I went over on my calories yesterday but it was all health food and I walked 12 miles so I think I am ok. Today I walked 11 miles and so far so good on the food front.

hey guys, getting ready to crash for the nite, but wanted to stop in and report...gotta keep myself accountable! :)

overall it was a good calorie burning day. worked on the yard, built a fence, mowed three lawns and assisted with almost all that d did that was too big for me to do alone...we made sure to have a sturdy breakfast, we hit dennys before hitting home depot, so i wouldnt have to cook! :)

I had the chicken fried steak breafast with sourdough bread, home fried potatoes and 2 over medium eggs..with green chile and gravy, the meal in total is 660, i left 1/2 egg and 1/4 of the steak, 1/4 of my orange juice and the edges of my toast. I did have coffee...but we worked hard outside all day..i am not worried...then since it was almost 8 before we finished i called in a thin crust, extra cheese pizza, had two slices and a glass of pepsi.

Not too bad since i know i burned alot today...we worked really hard, the wind was hellish and we are windburned..yay! :dizzy: but we got a fence and two gates up and we removed 3 bushes! we are half way done! :)

Well, I blew saturday. I ate way over my calories and didn't exercise. But, yesterday I walked and did some jogging at the track. I tried to keep the eating under control and I didn't do to bad. I think if I want to do good for the end of the spring challenge then I will need to be more disciplined.

Ok, so going to try and get it back today.....

Cport, not to worry, I have had a good week and a half but I so blew it for 3 weeks I probably won't even make it out of the pink, let alone into the purple for the spring challenge . Oh well, that's why they call it a challenge right?

My sunday was horrible. I don't know where it came from, I felt like I was eating myself out of the house or something! I was eating unhealth stuff I usually never eat, loads of bread and it was just horrid. I put on a kg. But of course I did! I don't even think my stomach has digested half yet :nono::shock:.

Anyway I am right back at it and stuck with my fruit for breakfast instead of bread or cereal that I really wanted and considered.

Yea, I will be happy to stay out of the pink. But, I really wanted two more pounds gone. Nice weather is coming and I am struggling finding cloth to fit.....:nono:

Hi Guys! I need suggestions. I am thinking we need more motivation in this challenge to get us through these weekends. So, since all the other challenges have some sort of chart, I thought I would do one for this challenge.

Ok, now heres where I need suggestions. I was thinking maybe a point system to see how many points we can get over each weekend? What do you think?

You know, something like so many points for each good day and then so many points for exercise and food choices. Something like that.

Well let me know. I would like to set something up by tomorrow....

Cport, I love your  :lightbulb:. I think assigning points for exercise and food choices is a great idea.

I'm just kind of thinking out loud here but what if you had points for a certain amount of "exercise" like for each 30 minutes of aerobic exercise which could include actual exercise or things around the house like building fences (BJD) or riding bikes while our kids nap (cPort) and then an amount of points for any strength training. As for the food what about a certain amount of points for staying within your calorie guidelines and then possible bonus points for making an exceptionally good choice such as saying no to that cheesecake and having a bowl of fruit instead or skipping the french fries and Mickey D's and getting a side salad, or even walking or biking to the store when we normally would be taking the car. Anyway just some thoughts I'm sure there will be lots of ideas on how this can be done.

Also I know we all start are weekends on different days some of us include Friday, some Monday, some just Saturday and Sunday, being one who likes to include Friday I vote for a 3 day chart, the 3rd day could be either Friday or Monday, but whatever the group thinks is best is fine with me.

I'm sure it will take you awhile to decide how you want to do it and actually get a chart going so I assume it won't be until next weekend. But in any case I'm in for this weekend in whatever form.

My plan, Friday--Calories--1500--Aerobic and Strength

              Saturday--Calories 1500--Aerobic--probably a long walk

Sunday--Calories 1500--Aerobic exercise probably another long walk--I'm getting ready for my 60 mile breast cancer walk so I really need to get lots of training walks in.

Cport....thank you so much for thinking of doing the chart ....I love it!

Yep, I will get something going this weekend. Maybe that will help me stay out of stuff if I am working on something.

Otherwise, my weekend starts now. We went to the daughters last night and had pizza and chips. So, I need to be really good today to make up for it. I joined the new challenge and I really want to make some progress for a change.

I feel I am at a place now where I can really improve on some things. I plan on getting in some good exercise this weekend. It's suppose to be nice out. So, looking forward to getting allot accomplished. I am almost done with yard work for now. But, you know how that goes. It's a never ending project.

Ok, I got to go. I have a ton of paper work for daycare to do then I need to pay bills, dishes, etc. You get the idea. Always a list a mile long....

for me activities today: painting house and calories 1200 or less.
saturday: rest from painting, its supposed to rain all day. Inside, walk or bowflex if i can manage it and 1200 or less calories.
sunday: painting and 1200 calories or less
monday: will post later because it will depend on how the sunday painting goes, how d feels etc..how I FEEL!!!? :dizzy:

we are also rebuilding the deck on our backporch this weekend, moving about 100 pavers...(how i thought it was like 40 is beyond me...they are all over!) and then cutting, reshaping and moving the deck to make a patio and step down from our backdoor....that will be part of our time as well... :)

LOL, I guess that means I will never get to relax. My house is a fixer also, but we won't do allot of things until I quite doing daycare. So, I guess I'll be spending my later life fixing the house instead of relaxing...

bummer....might just have to move and not worry about it at that point....lol

Friday turned out to be a good day for me, I walked 10.5 miles as well as a work out at the gym. I was so busy I didn't have time to eat so my calories were only 916 which really is a little too low but I'm not worried about fading away .

I've already blown it. I just lost willpower. I think I need to take a break from it all.

I hate alcohol, too many calories.

And I hate staying at people's houses because my rules go out the window.

sqzee, sometimes taking a break is the best thing you can do. If it is stressing you out too much then it is not going to help. Just let it go for awhile and know that you will come back when you are ready. We will miss you but you need to do what is best for you and you should not put unrealistic expectations on yourself. We'll see you when you're ready.
