Can we have weekly mini-challenges. Like things for the whole group to focus on. One week it could be the total minutes of how much cardio you did that week, another week it could be how many servings of junk food you ate that week... Or just something to focus on because I am still having a hard time getting motivated.

You are welcome to organize anything you like! I monitor my sweets with my Diet Buddies group.

You can do it right here if you like, but it might be better to start your own challenge topic for whatever your challenge is. Then you could "advertise" it here.

I have a question! :chewing: Does anyone else seem to almost bloat a little during the week, then by the end of it just suddenly loose one or two pounds?

I’m pretty sure it’s not my scale, although it might be how much water I’m drinking. I just want to make sure that I’m actually losing weight, and not just gaining and losing air. :nono:

Be sure to read the tutorial topic on salt. That could have something to do with it.

Peter,

I don't want to wuss out, but I want to change my goal wt. to 150.  It will be hard enough to maintain my wt. while my husband is home, much less lose wt.  I will probably gain a pound or two (I have several wonderful meals planned, I know he is sick of MRE's).  I would like to stay in the challenge, it will add to my incintive to lose.  I don't know if I will be able to post the two weeks he is home.

Thanx for all you do!!!:clover:

I am taking this mornings weigh in 124lbs. I am sure I can keep it at that over the weekend- since I always do well on the weekends.

Hope everyone else has a good weigh in for the week. I am very pleased with mine even though it is only one pound. Better than none.

Keep up the hard work everyone.

Thank you Peter and Bert for your support last week! I made sure to not give up and am please to post my weight this week!

Current weight - 165.4, Yay!

Now a question - I looked through the "ideal" weights in the CPH tutorials and I can see myself at 140 (although even my doctor thinks that is too thin), but 132? I am 37, I think that might be scary thin! BTW I am 5'8".

Any comments on these "ideals"?

Hey Peter!
I'm back, and I'd love to join and stick around this time! I know I'm a little late, but time to try to get back on the wagon!
Current weight 154
Goal weight 140
That is over two pounds per week, but I'm sure some of my weight is water.
Thanks for doing this. It's just what I needed!

Whatever your loss or gain, just do your best and commit to continue reporting. I'm sure however it goes, you'll do better if you account for it.

Enjoy your time with your hubby and thank him for serving!

I've lost more than my goal weight in all the challenges!

What's important is that you're learning to eat and exercise in a healthy way that you can continue... forever.

Hello

Checking in this week- still at the same old weight 122.  I am beginning to feel that maybe that's the weight I should be - but we'll see - I hang in for the challenge and see if I can tweak some things while on the challenge.  Everyone seems to be doing great!

Still at 247 but I got a new scale this week so there might be some variation.  I had a pretty good week.

It was hot, hot today in the Pacific Northwest-93 degrees,  we're not used to that kind of heat! Still got my walk in, fortunately in the morning.

I hate to say this but I don't think I can stay with this challenge anymore. At least not on here because I just moved back home from college and I do not have a scale at home. I know it may sound like a poor excuse but I'm using it to my benefit because I am a compulsive weigher and I think this will force me to look at eating healthy and being healthy for the sake of all the benefits other than just losing weight. I am still on my challenge of getting back to my old self and I can assess that by how my clothes fit and by measuring my waist line--all without the scale! Wish me luck, and good luck to all of you too!! I know you all can do it

I posted my weight on Friday, I just have to post something I noticed.

First, we went out for BBQ on Friday and I ate too much. That is not surprising, but what was surprising was that I did not eat even half of my food and I was uncomfortably stuffed - I felt like #%@&! the rest of the night!

Second, the weather here in BFLO has been #%@&! all weekend (contrary to popular thought, that is unusual for spring here) so I have not been outside working in the garden and I had a cold, so I used that as an excuse to not workout (bad, bad girl).

Last night I had real trouble sleeping, which I hardly ever do since I started working out again.

I am just posting this as a testament as to how your body changes when you change your lifestyle. I think that whether the changes are healthy or not, a lot of things are affected.

What can I say, you think a lot when it is 2 am and you can't sleep.

My weigh-in for today:  133 lbs

I was at 131 lbs all weekend and was so  happy.  Then, of course, today when I weighed in for the challenge I was 133.  I guess it was all just water weight.  Oh well.

I'm 172 which is pretty good since I was 177 on Monday with all my pigout water weight from the week I didn't eat well. I'm sure I'll be 171 (my challenge starting weight) by next Monday and start going down from there.

172 is also pretty good considering that I had company all weekend, and we went to a wine tasting event and out to dinner twice. They left two gallons of ice cream in my freezer which I didn't touch and will give away.

Though I do go on a week-long trip next week. In the past that ALWAYS meant putting on weight. But on my last trip I lost weight... so I'll see if I can't do as well.

I'll update the stats list for everyone tonight.

Hello,

Well, I am going UP instead of DOWN.  :rain:

Current weight:  152

Food is just not fuel to me ~ it represents many things depending upon the food.  I feel shame and frustration! But I refuse to give up!  I am determined to succeed!

It would help if the weather would warm up.  I am so tired of wearing my "winter woolies".  At least I think that would help....really, I don't know what would help at this point.

Hi! One full week of trying to make smarter choices AND trying to be active every day.

I started the challenge at 124 and am down to 123. I'm hoping the next weigh in will bring better results. I'm usually 121 but I'm holding on to water I guess.

GOAL of 116 is still possible?!

Hi! I usually like to work out but lately I'm needing motivation too. I've been making myself "work out" every day, even if that work out only consists of a 25 minute walk. Put it on you daily to do list and don't let yourself skip.

I usually work out in the a.m., and find that if I can't "fit it in" it just doesn't happen SO-- I'm now making myself evening walk.  Plan a two or three mile course in your neighborhood and force yourself to check it off your daily list. Reward 1 full week (7 days) of exercise with a pedicure or something that'll keep you focused.

Hope this helps!

That might be slowly does it but its better than staying still or putting it on - both of which I've done recently.  At least this week I've managed a 0.5lb loss.

Anyway well done Katie for a loss.

Oh my weigh in weight this week is 167lb.

143 still! But, I guess that's okay. I was actually expecting to gain weight because I didn't work out as much as I did the first week! Only a few more weeks of school left, and I hope to be ready for a swim suit within the first month of summer, hopefully.

Keep it up everyone!

Oh, and I read the tutorial on salt and stuff. I'm guessing that's what my problem was. Thank you Peter!

I just did something I feel awful about. It's ironic that I grew up in the '50s when our parents told us to eat everything on our plate because there were starving people in China. They could really use some food now after the earthquake! Though perhaps rice would be better.

Anyway, I just threw away a big gourmet cookie and two almost-full half gallons of ice cream.

My guests left earlier this morning and Lane, my ex-roommate, bought me the cookie. And his morbidly obese friend picked out the ice cream when we all went to the market together. I insisted on paying for it since a "normal person" would have stuff like that in his home for his guests.

I found myself thinking about it while I was at the gym. Who I could give it to, or if I could save it till the scale said I could eat some for a treat. (Instead of something healthy!?!)

I have plenty of neighbors who give me stuff, but I hate it when they do. And it would only encourage them.

When I realized I was obsessing over it, I decided the best thing to do was trash it, which I did as soon as I got home.

I never hide the fact that I have an eating disorder, but you just don't get the respect you would if you said you were an alcoholic... in which case they wouldn't think of offering you a drink. Unless they were really dumb. ("Well, you can have just a little, can't you? Everything's fine in moderation.)

Lordy.

Peter:monkey:

P.S.

I was just remembering that at the gym I had a very stong feeling that I wanted to be in shape and healthy more than I wanted the treats. This shows a lot of progress to be feeling this way, and it's the result of how well I've been doing in all the recent challenges and my Diet Buddy group.

We just have to keep working at this and not give up.

Hi Peter,

Wow, I did not know you had an eating disorder! I work in Mental Health and I always suggest that people channel the energy they use in negative behaviors into positive behaviors. So I say BRAVO!

Also, would it be less of a waste for you to have eaten that stuff? I think not! I try not to give away food, because once summer comes people will think that they can give you all of that zucchini that they grew, and I hate zucchini!

Take care,

Hey, don't feel bad. That is one of the things I had to give up when I started dieting. I hate throwing good food away. But, when I started out, I promised myself no more finishing the kiddies food, no more finishing something I don't really like, no more eating stuff that I didn't really want. So, I had to learn to throw thing away.

It is hard doing that when your a tight #%@&! like me. But, it is for the best sometimes. I feel like it's me against the food. So, I just toss it and don't worry about it.

Yes, and this is one of the reasons I'm always suggesting that people make changes slowly... lose weight slowly... so you can adjust as you go.

Baby steps!

Welcome to new members kendra, squid609 and vgreet!

I had to drop five members for not posting in over two weeks, but that's to be expected. Still, if you see a name you know and they haven't posted in over a week you might send them a PM. The date of their last post is in the stats.

Well, we're 25% through the eight week challenge and at 15% of our group goal, so I guess I'd better try harder! Haha... I gained a pound.

Keep doing your best and keep posting!
