I put a pound back on. So 149 Hardly surprising considering my diet lately. Guess I'll have to turn around and lose it if I want to get that red back!

Weighing in at 185

Still going down at a snail or slower pace.

Went shopping today and nothing seems to fit either too large or too small, guess I don't know what sizes to try on.  A whole new attitude needed and more than a half hour of time to find something.

Did buy one red shirt,  wow!!  And then it was time to meet hubby for lunch, oh well better luck next time.

Cheerio

I hate the buying new cloths and loosing weight thing. I have so many cloths cause everything is to big or to small. I usually have about three sizes at once to unsure I have something that fits. I do allot of thrift store shopping now. Great places to find jeans, but no luck on shorts for the summer. So, I just bought more jeans and cut them off. What a pain and it gives me a headache everytime I go out shopping for cloths.

Yes, cph is going away. But we don't know when, and we don't know what if any cph features are being moved to Livestrong.com. Nir asked recently, but hasn't received an answer yet.

I have really loved the series of challenges I have participated in, and I especially loved doing the weekly updates for this one and reading all the posts. I think you all have done so well. And as I've posted repeatidly, those who didn't lose weight but stuck around deserve much credit. For so many years I'd just disappear when I was eating poorly and do much worse.

Because I don't know what is happening to cph, I am not going to start a new challenge myself. However, if someone else wants to do it, that's great.

You don't have to create a stats sheet in Excel as I have. I just love playing with Excel! You can post the numbers any way you like as has been done in previous challenges.

However, if someone does start a new challenge, say for July/August, they should be willing to continue the challenge at Livestrong.com if/when this forum is closed. We don't know yet if the forum posts will be moved over or not, so you might have to start from scratch again over there.

Lastly, I'd prefer not to start a long dialog about cph going away. Life's all about changes.

Fondly,

I really don't know, Peter. It's probably a combination of my diet and exercise regimen.

I've read various places about a supposed "fat burning" mode that you can put your body in, but have never really believed it until now. I think I've put my body in this mode.

My diet is listed in my diary, and is practically free of corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, and foods with trans fat on the label (except for a cookie I ate yesterday LOL).

I make sure to eat fat at every meal to increase the nutrient absorption from the foods I eat, along with plenty of Omega fatty acids. I get about 4-5 servings of veggies and 5-7 servings of fruit most days, and with the exception of my low sodium V-8, they are raw foods - no more canned veggies or fruits.

I limit red meat intake, getting the lean beef when I do, and stick with turkey and chicken. I also try not to eat foods with artificial preservatives.

I eat a lot of fiber (about 40 grams daily) to help me stay full. I'm really only hungry when I wake up in the morning.

I put a good bit of cinnamon in my cereal every day, and in my oatmeal when I eat that. It's supposed to have great effects on metabolism.

I drink between 80-112 fluid ounces of water a day, a lot of which is because I sweat quite a bit during exercise. My post workout meal includes plenty of sodium and potassium to help replenish what my body loses from sweat.

My workouts vary from week to week, but are almost always 60-90 minutes of cardio, 6 days a week. Last week and this week, it has been 30 minutes bike, and 60 minutes treadmill, with close to 11 miles per day cycled and about 4.2-4.4 miles walked daily.

I'm trying to get myself under the mentality that it's just something I have to do, just part of my life, like getting up in the morning and brushing my teeth. I'm sure the results I'm seeing also help to motivate.

Of course, I have no social life at all, and work from home, so I'm not confronted with some of the temptations that other people here are, like pigging out at a party. Still, it takes a lot of willpower, and kudos to all those here who have lost weight and are trying to.

I'm close to halfway through my journey now, and once I reach 279, I will have lost 80 pounds this year. My family tells me I'm half the man I used to be, and while I might not see it physically, I can tell that I've lost a lot in the way that I feel and the way my clothes fit.

My legs have some serious muscle from the cardio, but I still haven't done strength training. I will start that soon, so that I can keep the weight off once I reach my goal.

Most of my nice clothes are too big for me now, so I'm going to buy a new outfit at the end of the month. I plan to post some before and after pictures here for halfway through my journey. Thanks to everyone here who has given me their knowledge and provided encouragement.

EDITED because articial is not a word. :P

I'm so impressed with the attention you're giving to every detail of your diet and exercise!

As a side note, it seems funny to me when people say it's impossible to get in five servings of fruits or veggies a day.

I don't keep track of this stuff, but realized the other night that I had six just for dinner! Two of V-8 juice while I was cooking (cooking for me was boiling the veggies!), what amounted to three servings of frozen peas, mixed with two servings of mushrooms!

Hey Crimson,

My program for the past year is very similar to yours, even down to the cinnamon in oatmeal.  I just use a sprinkle though.  I think I'll try more.

I don't do as much exercise as you though.  I'm good for an average of 4-5 days a week and 60 minutes.  Some days are 60 cardio and some might be 20 cardio and 40 weight training.

I shoot for 5 servings total on the fruit and veggies.  Sometimes I do more.

How many calories do you shoot for each day?  I started at 1200 but I've increased that to anywhere from 1600 -1800.  According to the RMR calculator I'm still below what I'd have to be to maintain my weight as it stands today.  I'm at 199, down from 290.  It will be a year in mid-July.

I eat about 1800 calories per day. It might be a little more or less. I eat a lot of raw foods, and it's a bit difficult to get a really accurate calorie count, especially for the salad. On occasion (once every week or two), I'll spike it up a bit, like last Saturday when I maybe ate about 2500. And congratulations on your loss, Bert!

Peter, I struggle with my daily salad sometimes. I wish veggies tasted as good as fruits! In the beginning, to get my veggies, I drank two cans of 12 ounce low sodium V8 daily. I got sick of V8 pretty quickly. Your body really benefits from the raw veggies, anyway.

On the subject of fruits, I decided to buy a fresh pineapple a while back. Great decision! Pineapples are a bit expensive ($4.99 each here), but the taste is far better than what you get in a can. It's become my second favorite fruit, after grapes. I recommend it for those who haven't tried it.

I really admire people who can be that philosophical about change.  I'm rather the opposite.  I'm still not happy with the diary page lengths.  (wink).

Congrats on achieving your goal for this Challenge Peter.  And thanks for being the "Challenge Keeper" your ideas with the color coding have added to the motivation and fun.

Thanks for the info.  I think we're pretty much on the same page.

Regarding the veggies, they weren't my favorite in the beginning but I've gotten used to them and I like them now.  Brocoli, cauliflower, carrots, beets, etc., are all part of my salad.  I generally will have a piece of broiled or grilled chicken, pork or steak with it and a vinaigrette dressing.  Check out some of the light Greek Vinaigrettes or sun-dried tomato.

Stay strong!!

Ok, ending the challenge with todays weigh in. Cause I am going on vacation and not sure if I will here on monday. So, todays weigh in was 124lb.

I think that is a loss of one pound, not much, but one pound closer to my goal. Yeah!

Hi,

I am posting my June 30th weight today.  I won't be near any scales the next couple of days.

Current weight:  152

This past week I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia.  I was telling my doc I didn't seem to have a trigger to stop eating if I ate a big meal and she asked me a few other questions and suggested I get a glucose test.  I thought she was wrong. Shows you what I know!

And I've been put on a gluten-free diet.  I also have food sensitivies to all dairy, eggs, pineapple, banana, asparagus, spinach, almonds, black & white pepper, and wheat.  Which means I need to avoid those foods.

This pretty much has me discombobulated.  But I am dedicated to getting my body in a healthy state so knowledge is power and to have the information I received this week gives me tools I can use to reach my goals.

I am sorry to see this website go.  I have received so much inspiration and encouragment from reading everyone's postings.

Thanks to all of who maintained and updated it!  I appreciated it.  Take care everyone, I am signing off.

I am so disappointed in myself!

Back up to 166.2

At least I am not more than my beginning weight, right?:nono:

Still, I got to credit the challenge for helping me maintain my weight! I mean I am still 20 lbs down from my high!

I am going to be in the next one, even if it just helps me maintain.

lol... nope just camping not far from home. With gas prices thought that was the way to go this year.

Thanks again for the encouraging words. Now, if it would just quit raining I could load the camper.

Sorry to hear of your bad news. But, maybe this will help you in your quest to lose weight. If I had never found out about my thyroid problem and high cholesterol, I would of gained all my weight back. But, now thanks to the thyroid meds and the cholesterol diet, I stay pretty slim. It's nice to be healthy.

Good luck to you!

Good thinking, that is just the reason I joined this one. Even if I don't reach my goal at least I am not putting back on any weight. So, that is a good thing.

Keep at it, and don't beat yourself up, I gained in this challenge also, but got it back off. So, you can do it to.....

One day I'll get my run in for the day, but I won't eat right, another day I'll eat right, but not get my run in.  It would be good to manage to do them both at the same time.

Hello

Checking in for the final weigh-n - I am at 123 - so I did not improve the stats but I am still thankful to have been part of the challenge - and it has truly helped me stay on track. I really enjoyed the cph website - so thanks to the founders for doing all that it takes to keep a good solid website going - it's been a great forum.  Take care - and maybe see you in the next challenge at LiveStrong.

I'm going to post again tomorrow, since I missed a whole night of sleep the day before yesterday, and spiked my calories yesterday with a bit of a splurge. Tomorrow is also the last day of the challenge...what a ride it's been. :D

This week's weigh in 244, no change from last week. (edit: I guess I did change-but only to get back to where I was before my trip, so I'll take it.  But still gonna step it up!!)  Bert and CrimsonAnimus, I read your eating and exercise plans and am inspired to take it up a notch.  I've been getting 45 minutes of cardio a day (up until this week when I've had a house full of guests) and only hit and miss with the strength training.  My calorie goal is 1600, I'm actually hitting between 1800 and 2000 for the last couple of weeks.  I keep telling myself that I'm changing my lifestyle and whatever I do needs to be sustainable...but it needs to be effective, too.:dizzy:  Obviously what I've been doing isn't effective!  So thanks for the inspiration, I'm gonna try and step it up!

I'm now 158lbs which seems to be good new but sadly I've had some health problems uncovered which may have contributed to the weight loss.  Luckily it appears to be nothing serious and treatable, but has no doubt contributed to the weight loss.  Still on a positive note, If it means I've gotten used to smaller portions, then hopefully I can take that forward and keep my weight down/off.

My final weigh-in:  129 lbs

So, I didn't quite make it to my goal of 128 lbs.  But that doesn't matter a whole lot to me.  I am just happy that I made it this far and this challenge really helped me pull it off.  I was whining for the longest time about wanting to lose weight and this challenge really helped me follow through and pull it off.  I've still got a few more pounds to go but I'm sure I'll get there.  Thanks for hosting this challenge and congrats to everyone who stuck it out!

I lost another half pound, just beating my goal.

I'll post results tonight, and update them the next few nights as we finish this challenge. I think I'll cut the chart down to only those who have posted in the last week.

Thanks so much to all who participated!

Would you please update me!!

After a very disappointing few weeks away from the computer, I'm back to 144.

Thank you Peter fro this challenge, and thanks Nir for starting the next one!

Good job everyone who made it!

And my final weight is 128. I suppose not gaining really is an accomplishment...

Peter,  sorry for not being a regular with updates..........I get busy, and carried away in the diary section, and forget to pop over here    Evidently I should make more effort, and maybe I would have made some progress.   I went up the scale during the challenge, but did get back down to starting weight.   Hope to do much better on the next one.

Wahey, I screwed this one up didn't I? Still here though, still hanging on. Although I fear my categorisation of "no gain" isn't exactly truthful considering my drop out and restart ;) I was 127.2lb this morning, so a little bit in the right direction.
Obviously, don't worry about updating for me Peter, I'll just head over to the next challenge and see whether I can do any better!
Thanks for organising this, I love the colour coding.
