Hi all,

Didn't weigh in this morning.  We almost lost one of our dogs last night.  A trip to the emergency vet and $750 later she's stabilized but we have to keep an eye on her.  She's not out of the woods yet.  She's 15 so I have to be realistic.

Get your postings in.  I'm updating the list.  Please don't forget to highlight your new weights in red.

It seems we all had a tough week.  Easter will do that to you.   I'm not expecting great results either.  We'll see.

Monday am - I gained 3 lbs.  Total back to 263.   If this challenge was for weight gain then I think I am winning...

Good morning,

I would love to take credit for this weight loss but I was sick over the weekend and unable to eat or drink much.

I am recording this anyhow but this is not what I would call a legitimate loss. I usually put a quick loss like this back on.

Lost:  3.5 lbs

Down 1.5 lb this week which is still too fast. I'm cutting down from three to two Diet Pepsis today (on my slow trip to zero) and will hopefully replace that Pepsi break with a healthy treat.

Haven't lost all my muscle (yet)! Took this the other day when I was working out and reading my camera manual between sets.

I have to confess... when I cropped that picture in PhotoShop, I tried the one-click fix to improve the picture quality. It did, and my skin looked like... my skin! With it's age and imperfections. So I undid the fix.

I have to admit my skin looks nice in that photo. It's kind of like needing glasses in old age. You have to learn when to wear them, and when not to.

For example, I never wear them when looking in the mirror, or dusting!

I'm alive.  It's been crazy since I was last here...a week, maybe two.  I'll update my diary later today.  And I need to visit Bert in the buddy link....I'm sure he thinks I've abandoned him...I have not.  Just a quick note to report my weight is at 198 today.  Up a tad bit, but I'll explain why.

I missed you guys.

Hi Butterball,

Glad you're part of the team.

I've been on a fat reduction program since mid-July, 2007.  To date I've lost 75 lbs.  I'm trying to lose 100 lbs and then I'll fine tune it.  I'm averaging a couple of lbs. a week but I've hit another plateau and having a tough time of it.  No matter; this is a life long change and if it takes me a couple of weeks to break the plateau, so be it.  My goal for this challenge is 16 lbs but I'm only 2 into it.  Gonna be a battle!

I didn't weigh in this morning.  I'm playing nurse maid to a very sick dog.  I don't know if she's gonna pull through but we're doing what we can.

I found this wonderful site in October (I think) and have been on the forums since then.  There's a great bunch of folks on the site who are going through what we are and the support is terrific.  We're not alone!!

Hang in with us and stay in touch.

Bert

Hello

Sorry for the late posting - I was hoping for an Easter Miracle and loose another pound - alas it wasn't true - still at 122 pounds.  This week I am on a business trip - I hope to stay within my eating limits but there is always tempting junk at conferences.  I'll have to pretend all the sweets have poison in them or something!

Finally got on the scale this morning.  213 lbs. for a 3 lb loss.  Seems I've broken that plateau and now I'll have to hit it hard to keep up the losing trend.

Total lost since July, 77 lbs.!!!!

Thanks Bert!

I am feeling much, much better today!  Very grateful about that!

Now that my appetite is back, it is hard to keep my hands out of the kitchen cupboards!  LOL!

Have a great evening!

Skinnieme,

Thanks for asking about our dog.  She's holding her own.  I spent all day yesterday hand feeding her, giving meds, taking her out and monitoring her temperature (that was fun).  I think I'd rather get on the scale and monitor my weight.

We thought we lost her but she's back from the brink but very weak.

Glad you're better.

Hang in there.

Never too late! Welcome!

But this challenge just runs through May 5, so you'll want to give a goal weight just for this challenge. 73 lb loss must be your final goal.

Then another challenge will follow!

Just thought it might be fun to post these all together. If you want a ticker, click on the Help link for instructions and then post it in a reply. I'll pick it up and add it to the parade.

It's just for fun, and not necessary for the challenge. If I missed yours, please send me a PM!

Also I see people making new tickers each week. Just click on your old one, and you can update it!

Oh my did I have an interesting day!

It was actually horrible, with my puppy vomiting and diuretic all morning... he's doing better now. I'm sure the worst has past.

Then I had a financial emergency, horrible dealings with my dad, and I'm helping a frustrated friend with PC problems. But something very interesting happened.

When I was walking through the supermarket thinking about quitting my move scheduled for today, going from three diet sodas a day to two, I realized how much progress I have made. The feelings and thought pattern were exactly what I used to go through again and again years ago. Only then each time it led to giving up my healthy eating and bingeing for weeks or months on end.

Here I was only considering not reducing my diet soda intake, and just sticking with three for a bit longer... which is what I decided to do.

But I was all excited to think how much progress that is, especially when I realized that I hadn't even considered anything more than the diet soda... hadn't given eating over my horrible day a thought until I realized that I wasn't considering it!

I think the accounting for my weight loss in three consecutive challenges, as well as my Diet Buddies forum where I am accounting for my sweets, have really made a difference for me.

Thanks so much for your support,

Peter:monkey:

Hi Melissa,

Welcome.  I just want to clarify something with you.  Your goal is 145 but this particular challenge is only until the end of April.  I don't think it's your intention to hit your goal by then, is it?   Think about how much weight you would like to lose between now and the end of April.  2 lbs a week is realistic, depending on your calorie intake and exercise program.

Let me know and I'll revise your numbers on the chart.

Thanks,

Bert

Peter,

You know, you're right about how we look at changed habits.

I used to go on "diets" and lose weight but when I went off or binged I'd say "What the heck; I can't do this."

Now, I don't even like the term "diet."  It denotes something temporary.  I've begun to think in terms of a lifestyle change and that change allows for the occasional pizza or desert.  This past Easter we had a big family meal and I ate everything but in smaller quantities.  I also enjoyed desert.  In the past, I'd worry about gaining on the short term and get defeated.  Now I simply say that "Enjoy this as part of your life style and get back on the wagon tomorrow."

Diets are temporary!  Lifestyle is forever!

We've had a rough few weeks in my family, so I have not been updating my weight.  I have made a determined effort to make sure I don't use my family issues as an excuse to eat junk and not exercize.  I'm down 1 pound, 205.
