New weight  175 today.

One pound loss, slow but sure.  Walk 16 miles a week.  Lift weights 3 times a week.  Situps 2 times a week.  Journaling what I eat at "My Daily Plate" website.

weigh in March 10        174

loss 2 lbs. Somehow I had hoped to lose more the first week which I usually do.

My goal this week is to measure my portions of chicken and fish and to be more in control of my eating. I just kept feeding my mouth vegetables, salad and fruit. And one day I ate oatmeal in the morning (8am) and nothing again until 5pm when I devoured half a chicken.

Start weight: 125

Goal: 115

Weigh-in: 124

Loss of 1 pound for the first week!  I was really hoping for about 2 or 3 pounds to really get me motivated for this challenge, but I can live with 1 pound.

Monkey,

Remember!  A pound a week is 52 lbs a year.  At that rate we'll never find you a year from now.

Congrats!!!!

Bert that is true.  52 pounds from now I would be 72 lbs and that is just too small!!  The smallest I want to be is 105.  So if I stay on track with 1 pound a week, It will take me about 5 months.  I want to at least be 110 by summer so I can wear a bikini!!

You know what I find helps me.  I watch those shows on E! that have all the hot girls.  Last night I watched 20 hottest women on the web and it makes me jealous, but it also makes me really want tow ork out and try harder so I can look like that!  I mean of course I won't look exactly like that, but close enough right!

But earlier last week I did suggest people to post their before pics now and then at the end of the challenge post their after pics.  I would love to see everyon'es weight loss!!

I lost 4 pounds!  I call it "The Coughing Till You Pass Out & All You Can Grief Diet"!
Pleased that I'm at the end of my sickness, and grief is easing.  Very happy that I am not eating to try to fill the loss.  Super excited the scale is moving down.  I pray I stay on the downward trend!

Way to go everyone!  Yall will be in those bikini's in no time!

I'm planning on doing that when I hit my goal of 100 lbs lost.  Should be sometime in the summer if I'm on track.   The before and after should be dramatic.

Oops!  I posted on old site!  Now I am on the right page and found the information I needed for this challenge!

Good morning,

Well, I am going up instead of down.

I have been eating junk since I got back from vacation. I know eating isn't my problem, it is my thinking.  I think I can eat without consequences.  LOL!  Anyway I am back on track today and plan to stay on track.

I am determinded to get to 145.

Heavyinchitown,

Don't get discouraged!!  You can do it.  Do you keep track of how many caloried you eat each day?  I have a little book I use as a journal and keep track of how much water I drink, my weekly weigh-in and how many calories I burn.  I also put down what days I excercise.  Each day gets a page in the book.  It helps me figure out what I am doing wrong and what I am doing right.

Hi everyone,

Please don't get discouraged if you show a gain for the week.  This is not about what we do in a week but what we do for the rest of our lives.

True, the challenge is something we use to get us motivated but it's not just about the challenge.  It's how we live and what our frame of mind is about our lifestyle.

Don't get discouraged!!!!  We can do this!!!!!

Bert

P.S. weigh in today at 216 lbs. for a 2 lbs loss.  My son, daugher-in-law, grandson and daughter came over for dinner yesterday.  I ate healthy but too many things with salt and I'm holding.   I'll take the 2 lbs!

Down 2 pounds to 178.

As I posted before, my goal for this two-month weight loss challenge is 5 pounds and I'm not off to a good start. After eating well for a few months as I have been during the last few challenges, my body starts to lose weight very quickly. And it's not good.

I have just reached that point, and if I don't stop it my face will look so shallow that I will get comments, and I will lose muscle. I can see this at the gym as my strength decreases.

Part of my problem is that I am so compulsive. For example, I sat down at my PC with my OJ/protein powder mix this morning, but now it's after noon and I haven't eaten my breakfast yet. I'll have my oatmeal, but won't eat again till after the gym. I need to start committing to eating on a regular schedule no matter what I'm up to.

Also my daughter and family are in town, so we are having a lot of big family meals together. And I think I've been over-compensating... eating too little before the family meals and too little during them.

I will try to do better!

On a closely related subject, please take a look at my new topic:

Do you have an Eating Disorder?

Obviously... I do!

Peter,

Do y ou really think you have a disorder or is it just that your eating habits are haphazared and not organized?

I've been scheduling what I'm going to eat and stick to that plan.  For example, I get up and workout first.  I'll fix breakfast and plan a snack at 10 am or so.  Lunch at noon or 1:00 pm and a mid afternoon snack.  When I get home I may have a 100 calorie popcorn or a small handful of nuts.  Dinner and a little while after that, some yogurt or fruit.

At the beginning of the day, as I plan what and when I'm going to eat, I also calculate the calories.  I've been doing it since July so I have a good idea of what portion size/calories I'm having.  If I have the occasional pizza I don't really worry about it as it's the exception rather than the rule.

Bert,

In the past, my eating disorder almost killed me. My doctor said it would if I didn't get help, so I did. Now, simply because I can't deal with food in a normal way (wanting to eat when I'm hungry), I say I have an eating disorder. It's a loose definition and whether a person thinks they have one or not is up to them.

But if someone is eating too much even when they aren't hungry, they need to figure out why or diet after diet will only serve as a temporary fix. I would like to encourage more people to think about this.

I have a happy life now and much better control, but I'm either eating poorly (by my standards) and putting on unwanted/unhealthy weight, or I'm on a strict diet.

In one mode it's easy to put on weight because of the junk I eat; in the other it's hard to eat enough because I'm never hungry. (My system is so messed up I'm never hungry in either mode.)

I'll do fine with a schedule if I can just get myself to stick to it. These challenges have helped tremendously. My body has just reached that point I always get to where I have to be very careful or I lose too fast.

Thanks for asking,

Peter:monkey:

Eh, up .5 pounds from a few days ago. I had a really bad weekend :nono:

My body fat on the scale is still really off, so I'm starting to think something really is wrong with my scale. I think I might go return it soon and maybe pick up a new one or something.

Unfortunately no loss for me this week . Im still at 143.   Im going to try to switch up my workouts a bit this week and in the weeks to follow to see if that will help me keep moving downward.

You know, we don't (at least I never did) think that we have a disorder when we get heavy.  My idea of an eating disorder was always anorexia or bulimia.  Morbid obesity really does indicate a problem but in the other direction.

My doctor told me last April that I had high blood pressure and cholesterol and he was concerned about my triglicerides and sugar.  It never occured to me that I had a disorder that could eventually kill me.  I guess the process is so slow that I wasn't aware of it or was in denial.

The upside is that I'm down 74 lbs from that day and I have my physical again in April.  I can't wait to see the numbers now.

Thanks, Peter.

Be sure you read My Story by Peter. I was never over 20, maybe 30 pounds overweight, and it still threatened my life. And I didn't have anorexia or bulimia.
