I also vacillate between should I buy clothes for my current weight and feel comfortable or suffer in my tight clothes as a constant reminder. There are advantages to both  but it is important to keep up your moral while dieting so I would buy a few outfits that  see me through weight loss and work towards having them "fall off my body" due to weight loss. I just purchased a pair of burmuda shorts from a catalogue in my xl size and they were slightly tight. Instead of returning them for a plus size I will try them on every week to measure non scale progress. GOOD LUCK TO US ALL!

Greentea, that is a great idea.  Perhaps I will wait until I loose a few pounds and watch how my clothes get looser and looser.  Then treat myself to something more my size.

Does anyone know what the average woman's clothing size is?

Last summer when I was at my top  weight of 202 I had to break down and go buy some 18's for the bottom and 1X for the top.  Being in tight clothes is bad enough but when they're light summer clothes and the tightness shows off every little (or not so little) roll it's even worse.

I bought my stuff at Kohl's on the sale racks-usually 50%-80% off.  The fun thing is that now they are HUGE on me.  (I bought my 1st 12 last week.)  Now I am waiting to buy any more clothes til I can buy a 10 or 8-hopefully by June.

I have been putting back $10 for every pound I lose and when I hit my goal I can take that $700+ and go clothes shopping.  That is going to be FUN FUN FUN!!!

Don't feel bad, there are a lot of persons in your same shoes. I have tons, and tons of clothes that cannot fit. But at least you can wear anything to work. I have to wear suits. My suits range from 10, 12, 14, and 16 and some 18.  The 18 is because I have gotten fatter and could not get into the small ones. But I have vowed not to purchase another large suit because I must get into those that I have.

So from this new year rolled I have been eating healthy and exercising and now my 16's and 18's are too big. I have to get them adjusted.  Some 14's run a bit bigger than others so I can wear them now. but I will eventually get into those 12.

To answer your question, I think the average women size is probably size 10 or 12.

Keep the faith you will get there.

Emy,

That is a great idea.  Putting some money aside for each pound!  I have about 10 pounds to loose so maybe I will put away $20 for each pound .  That will give me $200 and at Kohl's , $200 is like a million!!

I am bummed because they don't have mervyns out here.  In San Diego they had Mervyns.  THey had the perfect jeans that fit my stubby little body and now I can't find anyplace with clothes that fit me.

I don't see my weights listed on your chart:

Starting weight:  143

Goal weight:  138

Though I have more to lose than 5 lbs - I figured I would set myself up for 5 lbs at first.

Thanks,

monkey809 wrote: So I am curious.  What is everyone's plan of attack on loosing weight this challenge.  I just don't know what to do.  Right now I am trying the no-low carb thing.  I am thinking about doing that for 2 weeks and then slowly eating a few carbs and excercising.  I know I loose quite a bit when I do the no carb thing.

I had cut out white sugar and lost about 2 lbs in 2-1/2 weeks.  I had gotten inspiration by reading this person's blog about cutting sweets.

My plan is the same as what has been working (just slowly):

-sticking to average of no more than 2000 calories per day.
-limiting the fat intake, as well as Sat fat.
-cutting down on the Alcohol
-Getting more fiber and protein in the diet
-Working out more. (striving for 50 minutes every other day)

I was wondering where everyone has gone.  There were 112 people in the New Years challenge and only 45 doing the Spring Challenge.  Where did everybody go?

Come on folks.  Let's do this thing!!!

Patchers,

Quite a few actually dropped out over the two months. We decided to leave in their stats so long as they had lost weight before they left.

I'm suggesting that in this new challenge we drop people from the list that leave the challenge, honoring those that stay active.

OK, The last challenge I set my goal too high.  For this challenge, I will go with a little more realistic 12 pounds.  Current weight, 206.  Goal, 194.  I'll do better about checking in on time too.

Peter, I just reread my home diary and on March 1, Saturday my weight was 176 not 175 as I posted.

Would it be possible for you to change  the STARTING WEIGHT TO 176.

Thanks so much.

Christe's Friday weigh-in=128lbs., for a loss of 2 pounds this week.

Eating lots of fish, tilapia, salmon, tuna and started adding flaxseed to my morning oatmeal. Feeling good so far. Trying to be more consistent with my exercise.

Hey guys! I'd be starting a few days late, but I'd love to join! My starting weight is 157 and I'm shooting for a 10 pound loss to 147

The day I like to officially weigh myself is Sunday, but I can move it over to Friday as well for this challenge.

Hello!
I figure it's about time I start participating again, I'm feeling pretty positive.

My starting weight: 133lb
My goal weight: 123lb

Oh, and since I haven't been weighing myself regularly at all I will weigh myself and report in every Monday morning. Even if that means I only have two days to get the scale to shift for the first weigh in. ;)

Thanks!

"Ha," my body said, "Your will is not as strong as my need to hold on to weight."

Yes, I gained a pound!

Starting weight - 170.0

Current weight - 171.2

Goal - 160.0

I have actually been on track this week, I have not even exceeded my daily calories once!  Plus I have been consistent in exercize, so go figure! But since I am happy with the fifteen pounds I have already lost, I am not even tempted to backtrack.

I'll see what I weigh Monday morning, my weekly weigh-in time, but today I'm excited that my scale says I dropped a percent body fat WITHOUT losing weight.

I do want to lose more weight... five founds in this challenge... but slowly so I don't lose muscle and slow my metabolism.

Losing a percent body fat without losing weight means that I have lost fat and gained muscle!

Ah, congrats Peter - that's great!!
I weighed in this morning and my scale told me what I suppose is the right weight (about .4 down from a couple days ago so it seemed like it could be accurate) but my body fat % was 10% lower than its been telling me! I hope my scale is still working and that it was just a temporary thing :dizzy: I think I'll check again tomorrow and see if it's back in the neighborhood of where I was.

Good Morning

Today we are springing forward - a little adjustments for sleeping and waking now.  I weighed in yesterday but only have time to post now.  I am at 122  -that was a tough pound to lose. I've been using the daily plate (http://www.dailyplate.com) to track my food intake and exercise - it's been very helpful.

Weight this week 173lbs (hangs head in shame     :nono:) a gain of 3lbs.  The only thing I can think off (apart from not sticking to watching what I eat etc hard enough) is that work has been manic and I've been so tired when I get in I've just eaten meals that have been quick to prepare which aren't necessarily the best for me.  Still I've two weeks holiday coming up so I can take more exercise and eat better.

Obviously not a huge change since I've only been going two days, but: 132.8lb 0.2lb loss. Hah. Might have been more if I hadn't had 75g of galaxy chocolate plus a large glass of milk last night. But pain is no excuse for bad eating! Buying lots of vegetables and fresh meat today. Really craving vegetables. :)
