pbf, is right! I weigh myself to much. I usually weigh every other day. I was at 129 yesterday morning- that was not a day I weigh, but did anyway. Down this morning to 125. So yea, if you weigh in all the time, then there will be great swings. That works for me, cause I was good all day yesterday, thinking I was gaining.

I am almost to my goal and it is harder than ever to get the pounds off.

Also, agree with not putting the diet word in your vocabulary. I try to tell myself to eat healthy, be healthy. Cause, if you do that, then you lose weight, cause your not eating all of the garbage foods. I don't believe in diets or sticking to a plan, it doesn't work for me. I don't have time to count calories and what not.

I do make time to read food labels and decide if something is healthy for me to eat. And if I do eat something that is not healthy, I make a few bites only- or try to anyway.

One other thing I do is "treat myself" when I have a weight lose. I have done everything to having an ice cream cup to buying new cloths, shoes, whatever suits me that week. I am currently working for some oreo cookies, lol. I need to lose two more pounds before I can get some. Also, with treats, one is plenty, don't eat the whole container if your reward is food items.

exercise- if you walk, you could try virtual walking. Find a place you always wanted to go and see how many miles it is, and then get busy on that treadmill or outside and go that many miles. Don't have to do it all at once. I have not done this yet, but would like to try it.

Some of the rules I try to live by:

Only eat red meat twice a week

walk 20 miles a week minimum

eat lot of fruits and veggies

fish and turkey are my friends:dizzy:

drink lots of water and take vitamins

Don't eat alot of carbs, but don't cut them completely out either

Never drink non diet soda

try new diet recipes and food products weekly

drink non fat milk always

WOW! I am going to town here.....Sorry, I will shut up now...bye all

My weight this morning is 166.2.

With three weeks left to go, I have to admit to myself that I might not reach my goal.  The truth is, I am okay with that.  I am continuing to workout, and eat better than ever.  I made up my mind at the start of the year that it was not about weight, but about being healthier and still enjoying my life. I will see where that takes me.

For 2 days in a row, I have weighed in at 202.  I may not make my goal, but I will be under 200, which is a big accomplishment for me!

Don't feel so bad....I doubt it if I will make mine. It has taken me forever just to get some weight off after getting stuck at 133-134lbs. But, it is moving again...so we'll see how it goes.

Glad to hear everyone is still going to stick with it.

Maybe someone will start another challenge when this one is done.

I wouldn't mind doing some sort of challenge like the bikini challenge and focus on body measurements instead of weight. You know...losing inches not necessarily weight.

I don't know about a bikini challenge.  You don't want to visualize me in a bikini, speedo or anything remotely resembling butt floss.

I thought of that cause of that stupid commercial for cellulite

Someone come up with a better name and I will start one when this challenge is over.

Great! ... to everyone for hanging in there.  My weight has been wildly up and down the last 3 weeks.  Friday is my weigh-in day, so here are my stats.

Starting weight for the challenge 185.0
Goal weight for the challenge 167.0
Current weight is 174.5

I finally pushed past the 40 pound mark on my weight loss!  I am down 41.5 pounds.

I have really been pushing hard on my workouts the last couple of weeks and can really see the results.

Tonight I have the challenge of going to friends house for dinner.  We are having hamburgers and hotdogs and ice cream!  This does not really fit in to my healthy food plan.  I am preparing by eating extra healthy small meals today and will eat small portions tonight.

Anjan,

41.5 lbs.!!!!  That's huge!  Congratulations!!  What an accomplishment!!  Keep in up and stay focused.

Have the burger and lose the roll.  Load up with mustard, pickles, onion, tomatoe and salad.  You'll be fine!

Bert

P.S.  Enjoy the ice cream but just have one scoop.

Hello All

Checking in again this week - still at the same weight 122.  I really enjoyed reading Bert's advice about diet and lifestyle - it's so true and I needed to hear that right now - so thanks for sharing.

I will check in next week.

152 was my weight this morning.  I'm not sure I trust it, 'cause I feel like I've gained (haven't been trying that hard to lose either).  But....that is what the scale said.

Can anyone give me a really good diet plan?  Obviously what I am doing isn't working.

Dear Monkey,

Please remember that you are beautiful and that you can do anything.  You want to, so you WILL!  No matter if you've fallen off the wagon for a day or a week.  Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and carry on.  You owe it to yourself.

Take care (try GI diet for a kick start?).

Hurrah hurrah hurrah. Another 1.6lb loss. :D Was so scared I'd plateau again for another couple of weeks, especially not being able to exercise and/or stay awake.

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to let you know about something that really surprised me when I finally got over being mad.  Last week I was weighed and measured at the gym.  I weighed in at 174.  I was grief stricken.  What was the point of all my careful eating?  Might as well binge!  I did eat too much for about a day.  Then the thought hit me.  It wasn't all that long ago when I thought I would never again see 175.  My weight just never seemed to go down.  Now I was upset about it being up to 174?  I am now grateful that I am on the downward trend even though it doesn't always feel like it.  It helps for me to remember where I have been.  Today I weigh in at 172.

Norelfarms,

Your weight can and will fluctuate.  What I have seen is that it can drop drop drop, then be up a bit, then drop drop drop, etc.  That's why you need to not worry about the scale, but focus on the choice of foods and the activity level of the day.  Honestly, you want to get to a point where the food choices are automatic, and your own daily activities are enough to keep you at your optimum weight.

Happy Monday!!

Well, I'm down to 209 lbs.  That's another lb. gone!!

When I got up Saturday morning I weighed in and saw I was 208 but I knew we had a wedding ahead of us and we were staying at our favorite B&B.  I worked out before we hit the road for our 3.5 hour drive and brought appropriate snacks with me.

When we got to the church I learned there were two receptions; one at the church and one later at a country club.  There was food at both.

I kept to veggies and only 4 small meatballs for the church reception and had dinner and a couple of drinks at the other.  I only had a couple of bites of chocolate cake (with mocha whipped cream) and I gave the rest to my wife.  Breakfast was baked pears with a pear preserve glaze and fresh berries and blue berry pancakes with apples sauted in brown sugar, butter and Souther Comfort.  Oh, and maple syrup and bacon too.

Soooo, instead of reporting a two or three pound loss, I can only report one but hey, this is life!!  We're all going to have special occasions, and thank God we do.  This is lifetime and not just a weekend.  I'm back on the horse again this morning!

Excelsior!!!

I often give my partner the bigger portion or let him finish stuff off, but I find myself feeling guilty about the extra calories that puts on him! Granted his sedentary maintenance is 2000-ish, and the medication he's on at the moment is making the weight just fall off him regardless of what he eats, but I still worry like mad at the consequences of his not-quite-healthy diet.

Obviously not implying that you should feel guilty at all!!! I just quoted that as that is what triggered my mentioning this :)

Maybe I should leave carrying the weight of the world until I've built up more muscle...

Greetings,

I feel as though I have fallen into the abyss.  A place that is very familiar ~ and it isn't pleasant.

In this place, I don't eat nourishing foods or eat regular meals.  I start to think food contains the "solution".  And exercise?   I go out of my way to avoid that.

Not only is this place familiar but so is the pattern.  Dang! Dang! Dang!  It is a constant battle!!

Oh what a bother!  Still at 144 lbs.  I must concentrate on what is really important - me! - and stop charging around all over the place.  Calorie counting, carb controlling and Cindy Crawford workout video all begin tomorrow!

Maybe doing half an hour of swimming will help the ball rolling, too.

Have a great week everyone!  Bye, bye!

I am actually managing to lose fat as I gain muscle. I can tell by my body fat percentage reading on my scale.

The goal is not to lose weight, but fat! (Of course when you have a lot of fat to lose you will need to lose some weight.)
