I have been horrible in keeping up with these challenges and sticking with it. So I'm going to help organize the next one, hoping it will keep me motivated. I propose a Spring Fling Weight Loss Challenge to run through March and April.

pbf4326e (aka Bert) and I are going to run this challenge together, so please, if you have questions, concerns or suggestions, let us know!

Here are the guidelines of the Spring Fling Weight Loss Challenge:

  1. The challenge will run from Monday, March 3rd through Monday, May 5th.

  2. Beginning the weekend of Saturday, March 1st, try to post your weight each weekend, or at least by Monday night.

  3. The first week be sure to post your goal weight, too. This will help keep you on track.

  4. The results will be updated every Tuesday and posted right here just below these instructions so they will always be easy to find.

  5. You are very welcome to give each other support and carry on discussions right in the challenge. But to make it easier for me to find your weekly weight, if you have other text in your post please make sure your weight Stands Out.

  6. Newcomers can join this challenge at any time!

We are looking forward to organizing this challenge and I know it will help us keep on track. Your suggestions on how I can make it more successful are most welcome.

We can all do this together!

Please post any corrections.

I'm in!

This will be my third in a row, and I've been making slow and steady progress.

I have some advice for everyone... make your goal realistic.

We spend our lifetimes learning bad habits and putting on weight, then get impatient when we can't lose it quickly. Then we get discouraged, quit, and put on more weight.

Take baby steps that will last for a lifetime!

This sounds great.  I'd like to join.

Meanwhile...I need to confess.  I have a horrible time with "pre-challenge" syndrome...the sense that I can eat anything I want and don't have to excercise this week because next week I'll start the challenge and lose everything anyway.:pig:  So...to keep myself honest...I think I'd better make a pre-challenge committment to post daily and give myself a  or .

 Means I ate according to plan and worked out for at LEAST 15 minutes.

Been there done that!

If you really want to account for this next week, tell us what you weigh now so we can see how you did!

I'd be tempted too, but I'm still in the previous challenge... gotta walk a straight line!

Our last weigh-in is the first day of this new challenge. Keeps ya on your toes.

Sea Biscuit!  I know exactly how you feel.  I actually have been eating a ton of bad food thinking that in a few days the challenge will start and I better enjoy myself why I can.  It is that thinking that always makes me fail, so I better start my challenge today!

...And I better post.  Thanks to Peter, I braved the scale today.  Aghhh...Do I have to say it?  I weighed 155 lbs.  I think I need to be down around 120...

I behaved today.  Actually got up early and exercised at home.  Also at 5 servings of veges and ate no junk food.

It's been a while since I could say that honestly.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who needs a "pre-challenge" truth meter.

BTW, I didn't bold type that weight, 'cause I'm guessing you want my March 1 wt for the record.

I am currently reading "Portion Savvy" by Carrie Latt Wiatt, to get a handle on how much is really enough.

Looking forward to a new challenge.  The New Years challenge helped me stay focused while starting to get my eating/exercise under some sort of control.  Now the Spring Fling will keep me on the right path.  Thanks Monkey809.

Count me in!

I was hoping someone would start a new challenge.

I have lost 14lbs so far with the New Years Challenge (Thanks DG!) and am hoping to lose, atleast, 10 more by the end of April. (hopefully, I can feel comfortable in a bathing suit by then )

I will post my weight at the end of the News Years Challenge.

I'm in for this challenge, too.  I shouldn't have many pounds to lose at the end of the New Year's challenge.  However, the "keeping it off" part is so difficult that I think another couple of months of reporting will be helpful with the maintenance aspect.  Thanks Monkey for doing this.  AND, certainly thanks to DG for the good work you've done on the last challenge.

Yay! Another challenge to keep me motivated.  I am in on this one for sure. I will weigh in for the last day of the New Year's Challenge and then post my new weight here - goals will still be the same. I have 5 more pounds to go - those are usually the toughest to shed - I know.  But I'm in it for the long haul.  Great advise Peter on us keeping it realistic - slow and steady wins the race.

Thanks

I am glad that you are all interested in another challenge.  I think it's good not to take a break between the challenges so you don't loose your momentum!  I can feel it, I am going to loose weight this challenge!!!

I'm in too.  I only weigh in the 1st and 15th of each month so my weigh ins will be a little off from those weighing every week.  Hope that's ok.  I beat my goal weight for the new Year challenge by 2.5 pounds.

I did weigh to day so I'll go ahead and use that as my start weight and set a goal for myself.

START WEIGHT:158.5

Goal by May 5: 145

(That's just a tad over 1.5 pounds per week which is what I've been losing for the past several months.)

I'm ready!!!  Let's go!!!

I've been battling with food and weight for over 40 years, and as far as being consistent goes, this is one of the best runs I've ever had. I've lost more quickly, but never felt so consistent and determined to continue. I think these challenges are really helping me.

I've given a lot of thought to my goal for this nine-week challenge. I'm excited to lose a lot more weight, but a pound a week is just too much. I'm trying to put on muscle as I lose fat, and it's just about impossible to do both at the same time. So at least I want to lose as little muscle as possible.

My goal for the nine weeks will be a five pound loss, and I will have to work just as hard to see that I don't lose more than five pounds as I will to lose the five pounds. I think I lost a little too quickly in the last challenge. It's long-term that matters!

My results for the New Year, New YOU! Challenge:

My goal for the Spring Fling Weight Loss Challenge:

I have been reading these forums forever and love them. Today I decided to register and join the spring fling. I have been so inspired by the diaries and today decided to lose weight.(for the third year)I need help. I leave on vacation at the end of April.....a cruise. I know that I will gain weight that week but I cannot afford to gain an extra pound as things stand now. While I want to diet for long term at least I can do damage control by losing as much weight as I can before goingso I won't do double damage. I had 12 weeks and now I have 8 so I want to lose as much as possible. I have been so good today. I must do this.

Here goes.....today I am 175 :sad:My goal is for the challenge is 159  Is that too unrealistic? My ultimate goal is 135.Maybe I will do a diary.

OK.  I actually weighed myself today.  I am at 125, which means I gained back the 6 pounds I lost 5 months ago :(

My goal weight for the end of this challenge is 115.  I plan to eat healthier, excercise at least 3 times a week and improve my posture!  Wish me luck!
