Ok, I got this idea from Cool (thanks) and I thought this was a great idea!! I'm doing the same thing she did! I challenge all of you to take 10,000 steps each day this month! (31 days) That will be a total of 155 miles for the month! LETS GET WALKING!!!!!!! MUAH!!!!

I don't have a step-ometer thingie...I lost mine...but I can shoot for 155 miles!! You're on!!

(Course I probably won't make it...cause I'll only be able to count the miles I put in on my treadmill since I won't know the rest of the time...but oh well :P)

I think this challenge is fate, I was cleaning out an old dresser the other day and found my pedometer.......hmmmmmmmmm.  I even put it on to see how many steps I took during the day.  So I am game.  I may not be quite at 10,000 steps, but if I can make 5,000, that will be great.  I am a customer service rep, so it is a little hard to get up and walk around during work.  Really can only do this on my breaks.  But, I will give it a go.  Please count me in.

i am really tempted.  very curious to know how many steps i take (i walk a lot at my job- or maybe it isn't as much as i think????)... and it may help me get off my duff on the days i don't work!  are those things expensive?  i think i want to do this!

You can pick up a pedometer for around 15 dollars, depends on what kind you want.  Walmart, Kmart and any department stores sell them.  I have even seen some up by the cash registers when checking out for like 5 dollars.  I received mine from work as a gift for a job well done.  We get some strange things. 

You can also go to a web site called justkeepmoving.com and sign up, they will send you a free one, but, I think it takes about 6 weeks to get. 

I also have probably misspelled it, but, if you go to the fitness dept in most stores, just let them know what you want and they should help you with it.

yes, soontobeme is right! I got one of mine at Wal-mart by the reg. and it was only $2!! It works pretty good! (It tells how many steps I took, cal burned, how many miles, and how many Km it would be!) I hope you will run down to Wal-mart and grab one and join us!! :wink:

Soontobeme- If you put it on right when you get out of the bed in the morning and wear it all day you will add up more steps than you think!! I'm wearing mine today just to see how many I take around the house and It makes me want to walk around the "long" way! LOL Good luck to all!! MUAH!!!!!:smile:

oh, and CG- it would only be 5 miles every day.  2.5 in the a.m. 2.5 in the p.m? you can do more some days and less others... it's something to aim for, at least!

Today was a tough day for me!! I'm still working on my steps!!! lol Yeah I know, it's 8:03 here!! lol Good thing I don't go to bed till late!!! I'm running around the house trying to clean up and do some laundry!! I should be close!! If it wasn't for this freezing cold weather today I would of had plenty steps!! I went out yesterday and tried to walk...I did walk for an hour but today it was MUCH colder!!! Not sure what I will do for the rest of the week! My house can only get so clean?? Any ideas??? I live in a pretty small house! Maybe if I went out for just 15 or 20 mins at a time and walked???? I might try that tomorrow!! Well, I'll be on later to post my number! Hope everyone is doing good!! MUAH!!!!!:dizzy:

Yesterday I was nursing a migraine and no it wasn't from a new years eve hangover.  So not a lot of steps, even gave up, maybe got 3000 steps in. 

 

Today was better, didn't make the 10,000 may not either, very cold outside here to, so no walk today, plus have desk job, walked on breaks today, but not enough to get all my steps.  My total as of right now is 7,841 if it goes up a lot before bed, I will post a new amount in the am.

Tomorrow is to be a little warmer, hopefully I will get all my steps in, if not more.

Great job Soon2beme! I know there will be days for all of us when we can't get all of our steps in! I plan on walking extra miles on the warmer days to help my grand total at the end of the month!! I'm still walking around trying to get in as much as I can! So far you have more than me!! I should be up to at least 7,000 by bed time! I'll post in another hour or so!! MUAH!!!!!!  :wink:

I'm lucky I have a treadmilll...our high today was 27! And I don't think it ever actually got higher than 24, so. We did go out and do some shopping though...

Alright! Well, great job girls! I'm so proud of us!! Like I said earlier, it was very cold here and I would have went out anyways but the wind was just to much!!! I just finished walking around and around my little o' house to make it to 10,000!!! I'm surprised that I can feel it in my legs!!! I tried to walk around all day and clean house, but just an hour and half ago I noticed I just didn't have enough steps, so I started to just walk!!!! (and walk and walk!) Well, I'll for sure go out tomorrow...I don't wanna go through all this again!! I'm going to try to take extra steps each day that is is warm out so on the really cold days (like today) I don't have to worry as much!!! Good luck to all of you for tomorrow!! WE ARE DOING GREAT!!!!! MUAH!!!!! :wink:

I got my steps up to 9,812 by bedtime, really suprised myself.  Today I will try harder, but, I have court today, not sure how long it will last and how much walking I will get to do while in it.  But, have a vacation day from work, and will try and do some walking outside or at the mall later, if I feel like going to the mall, may just hit super walmart, it is next door and the only mall we have in this rinky dink area is an hour away.

GREAT JOB S2BM (nickname lol)!!!  6.4 is very good!! Just try to walk ANY time! Last night I was walking in place watching T.V! My son thought I look funny! He even got up and walked with me (in place)! It was cute!:duck:

Today it is a tid bit warmer, I'm going to try to go out for a bit and walk. I'll try to walk VERY FAST for about 30 mins or so! If I'm not frezzing I'll stay out longer. I'll probably try to go over 10,000 today and tomorrow (tomorrow is suppose to be warmer than today). Good luck to everyone!!! MUAH!!!!! :wink:

hey all.  yeah, i got slammed by a head cold.  i feel like i am swimming underwater.  feeling pretty gorss.  i did work part of a shift yesterday, but i forgot to wear the counter.  i also forgot on the first (that's when the cold really hit)  both days were horrible (as in a felt like i got hit by a truck).  today i am feeling a bit better and i am going to attempt a real workout today.  i am also going to wear the counter.  i havn't put it on yet, but i havn't really wlked much...  i guess i have some catching up to do!  can't really walk outside, as the wind chill is 9 and i don't want to make my cold worse, but i am planning on running some errands today, so maybe i can get a decent number in.

sorry this is late....  but i will get there!!!!!

I just got finished walking for about 45 mins. I've got a total of 5600 steps in so far! I came in to eat lunch, I'll be going back out in about a half an hour to get another 5000.   MUAH!!!! :smile:

you should definitely wear it ALL DAY!! Wear it while you are working out, walking, cleaning..every second!!! It is known if you take AT LEAST 10,000 steps each day you will lose weight (as long as you are eating it). Next month my goal will change to 12,000 per day!!! It's possible, I'm just trying to get myself worked up to a much higher number! (I'm sure when I get up to that number I'll be jogging or running instead of walking!) You are doing great!!! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!!!! MUAH!!!!!  :wink:

All your steps in TJ may not actually count though...I know that least with the cheap ones, with all though jumping round and everything in TJ, it may register some extra steps. But if you actually only take 9,000 instead 10,000, then that's still amazing, right?

yeah, i think the jumping around causes it to count, but jumping is a form of stepping, yes? :wink:  i dunno....

also, the stupid thing reset a few times today.  not sure when the first time was, i think it happened in the car.  the second time i noticed when i was in the changing room at Penny's.  it reset again sometime between the store and coming home.  so i really don't know where i am at so far today.  really a bummer.  oh, and i hit it against the counter when i was putting away dishes and it reset AGAIN!!!!   ggrrrrrr....  i can just see this happeneing at work, too...  do any of you guys have this problem?  maybe i should return it and find a different one with a reset button that doesn't stick out so.....

Yeah that happens to me too! I have two of them, one is like yours and the other has a cover so I have to open it to see the screen. I use to wear mine on my right shoe, that might help. Now, I just watch what I'm doing and make sure I don't lean on anything! You could take it off while you are driving? Hope that helps!!! MUAH!!

I only got 4,258 steps in yesterday..........court took forever and then was just emotionally drained, went home and slept.  Will update my steps for today tomorrow am,  I am really close to the 10,000 steps today.

I'm sorry I wasn't on yesterday, my boyfriends kids came over for our weekend, and well I hardly have any time when they are here!! lol I did kinda bad yesterday: 5,355 steps but I did great today!!! I've got 13,739 as of right now and I still have to clean up the kitchen and get the kids in and out of the bath, so it'll be much more! My feet really hurt tonight! LOL Good luck to all of you! Ok, I did get a few more steps in last night! I added another 534 to my total of: 14,274!!! That is sooo great!!!! I'm not sure why each of my trackers are changing to the current #!!! I looked at the others before last nights and they all say 25.3 miles? Maybe I need to make a new one each time instead of updating it each night? I'll see! Here's the new one:

Ok, I didn't do as well as I wanted to! I only did 3,980 as of right now! I'm not feeling my best today! I'll try to make up for it over the next few days! The weather was GREAT today, but I think it is going to be nice tomorrow too! Good luck to all of you!!! I'll be posting everyones first weeks numbers on Tuesday!!!! Well, I sat at the doctors office all day (from 9 AM to 1pm) so I didn't do that good! I did go to Wal-Mart for an hour or two and get some healthy food!!! So far I'm at 6,000 steps for today! I'm going to walk around in the house for the next hour and a half to try to get more! I'll post my tracker in two hours or so! I hope everyone did well today! MUAH!!!!!

BTW: I'll be posting our first weeks totals tomorrow night....please post your steps as soon as you can and I'll get the list together! THANKS!!!!

Yesterday Sunday before my counter broke, I had a little over 6,000 steps, so I will say that I have done a total of 7800 for  Sunday.  I did not get to get a new counter yet, will be going later tonight, so I guess since I was back at week, I could guess that I did about 6.400.

After doing my math, I have done a total of 63,921 steps! That just blows my mind! It should be 70,000....I'll have to make up for this tomorrow!!! GOOD NIGHT!!!!

ok, so i didn't bring it with me on the trip, but today, from work ALONE was 18775.  yup.  on a pretty average day at work i walk that much.  that doesn't count anything before (grocery shopping, getting ready), or anything after!  i think, even though i missed alomost a week, i will be able to catch up pretty easily!
