Hi,
I'm in. I havn't even tried to loose weight in so long I am not sure how to start. But here goes:
My current weight is 212.
My goal by 02/29 is 204.
That is only 8 pounds but I figure I ought to be able to manage 1 pound a week. I will try to set up one of those tickers by next post.
Wish me luck.

I'm not sure of your BMI at 5'2" 120 lbs, you may want to check that out. You may have a little weight to loose, that could take off some of that flabbyness. I am 5'61/2" 130 lbs. with a BMI of about 22. I am very lean as I lift weights and bike regularly. I maintain a healthy diet of veggie's and fruits, fiber-grains, omega's 3's through fish, fish oil, and flax seed. I take vitamins daily, esp. multi, C, A&D, E, and B12 since I maintain mostly a vegetarian diet with fish about 2x a month. Exercise is the key to keeping that lean body, esp. strenth training. If you don't belong to a gym, and I don't right now. Do what I'm doing. I have 2, 2'lb weighted balls, 2 5lb. hand weights, a small bar with 30 lbs of weights on it, an 8lb weighted (medicine) ball. I love working out with the weighted balls, they are fun to me and they give you a good workout. I do at home a kickboxing type exercise using the handweights and the 2lb balls and it's a great workout, along with the treadmill. I also bike about 3 days a week, about 100 - 120 miles a week.
A few more items I like and use: Hula Hoop, Medium non-weighted ball for squeezing between legs while crunching, holding 5lb hand weight. Exercise mat for doing crunches. I bought all of these items, most for under $5 - $10 at Walmart. Danskin makes great products, and exercise gear too, and cheap!
Sounds like a lot, I take an hour before bed to do my exercises while watching HGTV at night, and make time for biking during the week. You have to take time for yourself, or no one else will!!! It's kind of like the Oxygen rule, give to yourself first, then your child. Not the other way around. I know that's easier said than done, but when you make yourself a priority in your household, everyone else will fall in line. They may have to re-adjust, but believe me they can and they will! Oh! Did I mention I was 44! Every morning I can't believe when I look in the mirror and see myself, 44 years old, with a six-pack! I can hardly believe it myself! It's hard work but I hope to live a long healthy active life, and I think that's worth it! I was stopped in Target last week, this is absolutely true! A woman, total stranger, stopped me to tell me how healthy I looked and that my skin radiated. She just wanted to tell me. If that wasn't a validation of living a healthy lifestyle I don't know what is! I wish all people would do this, because I believe if we had respect for our own bodies, we would have respect for others as well. Not only other people but wildlife and our environment too. It would be a better world all together. God Bless you, and I will be glad to help you in any way possible. Have you seen the REALAGE.com website? check it out, it's a fantastic reference and I recommend it highly! Take the test! That is probably the best recommendation I can give anyone.

Hi,
SherryB with my weigh in figure: 238.5
Eventually, I'd like to get down to about 180. I am 5' 11", so I think that weight is fine for me. But, if I look good and feel good at a bit higher weight, I'll be fine with that also.
By the end of February, I'd like to lose 25 pounds. I think that is realistic.
Thanks for the opportunity for support.

I weigh 152 and I'd like to be 138. but, for now I will aim for 145 by the end of January.
I am 65, walk 5 brisk miles 3 days a week and linedance for 3 hours, twice a week. I still have to struggle with every pound. I quit smoking 5 years ago--and I still miss the physical habit. I have to learn to avoid the munchie habit.
I got down to 142 last March--but then.........
I got down to 132 three years ago--but then..................
So, here I go again--wish I could find a way to stay below 140!!!!!

I just added my weight loss ticker. I am hoping to see progress in the next week, even though for lunch today at work we had a "staff" lunch and ordered pizza and breadsticks. So, even though I brought salad I couldn't resist the pizza:(.

| I weighed myself on Monday, December 31 and am at 166. My goal my February 29th is 150. That's a little over 1 1/2 pounds per week so it should be doable.

Hi PBK - my BMI is 21.6 - relatively normal. I'm embarrassed to admit I have a complete home gym in our basement, floor to ceiling mirrors and all. I have free weights, nautilus equipment, treadmill, exercise mat, ab roller, exercise ball, and a multitude of DVD's....I'm addicted to the stuff...if I could just keep up with it. I go for 1 or 2 months working out 4-6 times a week....then I go for a month or two without it. I need to stick to it! I eat relatively healthy actually, today I had grapefruit for bkfst, cheese stick and almonds for snack, ham with pico de gallo for lunch with an orange. That's pretty typical for me. I don't eat much fish but it's a new goal for me so I just bought some whitefish and salmon yesterday to try a new recipe. I'll keep trying. Some days I feel like "I'm 41, why do I care anymore?" and then other days I say "I'm ONLY 41, I should care!".... right now, I care. I really want to keep it up and make exercise a very important part of my life - for me and my husband and our kids. Thanks for the advice...I'll keep looking for you.

Okayyyyyy! I babysat today! Normally when I feed the grandkids lunch, I nibble on their leftovers besides my own lunch! today, I spent lots of calories running around behind the 15 month trying to get that last bite into him :)) (notice the double chin). In time (hopefully within a short time) that second chin will be history! Still, I gotta do better than today; but it was a start! Time to shift into first! I am off tomorrow and friday so I will have a better plan to follow! Wish me luck; and good luck to all of you with your plans!

Alright. Just stepped on the scale and see I've gained since the holidays. I'm starting at 203.
By the end of February I hope to lose at least 17. Then I'll make the next goals for the next challenge.
I'm new to this. Do we continually share our weights and challenges? Do I just check back in at the end of February? I'm hoping this is something that can give me daily motivation since I'll definitely need it!

| I'm a little late but I'm in. As of today I weigh 141.4 lbs. I plan to get down to 135 by the end of February. I would really like to get down to 130 but if I put too much pressure on myself, I'll eat more and that would defeat the purpose. Thanks for giving me a bit of a push - I really need it!

| JennB, I think you are already on the right track. I do understand that you want to be more consistent in your exercise regimen. Maybe you overdo it, when you are doing it and that's why you can't keep up that pace. Why not just strive for 3 - 4 days of a good workout and not beat yourself up, then maybe you'll stick with it on a more consistent basis. But, remember, we all take little breaks now and then. It's okay. Don't be so hard on yourself!! Your 41 and probably gorgeous, remember that! Hey, 40's are the new 30's! And, you probably look better than a lot of 23 year olds? I don't know, but I have a sneeky suspision! LOL!

I'm up for the challenge! I've been using this site for years and read the forums occassionally. I received the e-newsletter this afternoon which had a plug for this challenge. I'm really excited about it.
Today's weight ... 160.6 lbs
Feb. 29 goal ... 149.6 lbs. (11 lb loss)
Ultimate goal ... 135 lbs.
Keep your spirits up! I've found that recording (admitting) everything I eat and the calorie count, every day, helps keep me on track. I also walk at least 2 miles a day, 6-7 days per week. After my first son was born (1998) I was at my heaviest, 227 lbs. I lost some weight, had another baby boy (2002) and stayed at 195 lbs. Since then, I've slowly but surely come down to 160.6 as of 1/2/08 (includes a two year stop at 173 lbs). I'm currently 14 lbs less than when I met/married my sweet husband (1996).
I'm looking forward to the journey with all of you over the next two months. Many of you have inspired me in the past. I hope that continues and perhaps I can return the favor.

OK, I'm officially ticker bar challenged. I configured my bar but can't figure which of the codes to add to get it to show up. There are several different codes showing up which one actually works?

im4Knines,
I noticed on your post that you are going to go on Carnival cruise line and want to lose before you go. Which Carnival cruise line ship are you going on and from what port? My brother works on Carnival as a piano bar entertainer! Let me know. Is this your first cruise?
Good luck on your weight goal?

I'm in as well.
Weight today 176. (BMI 27)
Target Weight 160 (or whatever I need to lose to get my BMI to under 25).
I know there will be times when I don't appear to lose weight in spite of excercising, watching what I eat etc, and I'll lose weight when I don't know why (ie I've been to a party or similar).
Anyway I'll be there trying to achieve any rate of weight loss that I can keep off.
Any way off to try and work out how to get these ticker things set up.
Good luck everyone.

Hi All,
Some of you may remember me as Elliptical lover! I am getting married in June, and Decided to change my name!
I gained quite a bit of weight, more than i originally started out at this site. However, I did re-injur my neck, so I have been battling lots of medications, sleeping all the time, massive amounts of pain, and the inability to do certain exercises.
I want to make a new years resolution. I want to lose about 55 lbs. I am currently 179.6 & I would like to be 125. I would like to lose the weight by my wedding day 06-07-08.
This gives me 5 months to do it in, which means i must lose about 10 lbs per month to make my target or close to it.
So, the first leg of my challenge:
Weigh 170lbs or slightly less by February 1, 2008

I will do this by working out on the elliptical and working with my physical therapist on what else i can do. I will also be cooking my own food at home, chosing health meals with lots fo fruits and veggies with proper portions. I will eat about 4-6 times a day and limit myself to 1200-1500 cals/day.
Lets see how i do!!!!

I want to join the challenge too!! I'm at my biggest ever, and I've got to do something about it or I'll soon be as wide as I am tall.
My starting weight, as of this morning, is 186.2 Ugh! So, by the end of February I'd like to be 176. My ultimate goal is 110-120.
Good luck everyone!!!!

Hey Im joining the challenge. Im in my last year and a half of college and decided that before i get into the work world I better get to my ideal weight. My current weight is 152 and I would like to get down to 138 that is a loss of 14 pounds which given my fairly open schedule and my new found love of fruits and vegies i find this realistic.
Good luck everyone. Together we can get this done!

Hi, I'm from Rocky Mount, Virginia. I hope you do great with your weight loss. I just got back from a walk with my dogs - it is in the 20 degrees F here, and I was glad to get back in the house. It is a beautiful night here, lots of stars, and it felt great to get moving.
